I'm fine with it either way, Tracy. I don't know that we really need food (I never found the need to snack between meals OR order anything from Room Service while I was onboard last time) but if most people want it, I'm happy with the suggest "per person" cost.

I know snacking isn't important to some of us (esp. the Sisterhood), but when you are sampling that much wine, a little food to counter the alcohol effects may be good. Granted none of us has to drive home, but I don't want anyone feeling they are coming to the wine tasting with no option but to get drunk. This is not a D&N sanctioned event

Either way I'm fine with it.

Am I the only one to read the Puerta Vallarta excursions, get worked up deciding what to do, then realize we weren't even going there ? I felt like an idiot. On the plus side...have booked a cabin for my dad and his GF through Allseas...they only had a 12, hoping to upgrade. I haven't told my dad I've done this, am hoping he will accept it as a belated retirement gift. Welcome to the newbies.

I still don't understand the wine tasting event. Will Disney really let you bring your own wine for an onboard party? Seems like they'd frown on it since they make $$$ from alcohol sales.

Yes, they will allow it. If we open the bottles ourselves, they will waive the fee.

I'm delighted to say that Dave and I, along with our new son Alexander, will be sailing with you all on this Panama Canal crossing cruise! Baby Alexander won't be a baby anymore -- he'll be just over a year old when we set sail!

We're very excited, and we'd love to join some of your meets. I see several familiar faces.

Of course, going on the Panama Canal cruise makes writing about all those Mexican Riviera ports for the third edition of our cruise guide that much more fun!!

I agree with Arlene. With all the food that we're all sure to eat anyway, I really don't see a big need for food at the tasting. The wine is the important thing!

But, if others would want the food, I'm OK with that too.

I have made a proposal to have a sponsor for our wine tasting event. If that falls through, what are everyones thoughts on 1. No food for the tasting event or 2. Contributing $5 to $10 per person to participate?

I think you'd need at least some cheese and crackers. I'm not sure I could enjoy tasting so many wines without munching on a few crackers or something. Just my 2 cents. But no matter what's decided, I'm still in!

I agree!! How much food are you guys thinking?? I mean, i can only stomach enough as eating food throughout the cruise...I mean i don't want to lost weight for the next 7 months to gain it back!!!! Just Cheese and crackers would be fine with the wines!!

I found out who the Capt. was when i went on my last Cruise in Dec. forgot who i said...I think i said Capt. Tom, Rachel is the cruise director.

Yes, we do have a t shirts..I know Andy (verndah man) made the Logo,
"Bringing the Magic Home" and i think couple people brought it, but i am not sure. I bought some from Andy when he cancelled his cruise. I think Mark did too. We also got the door sign magnetic backing of "Bringing the Magic home" that Andy did and Also Renee (piglet33) did the lime Mickey Mouse with our screen name.
