Awwww....:cutie::flower:She can talk to my DD9 who has been taking tap, ballet and jazz since age 4. She's decided to try hiphop and jazz this year; she's Disney Princess Leia on the kids' thread.

Arlene, Same here!! MY DD is 11 and she takes dance still!!(Jazz, Tap, Theatre and Ballet) She drives me crazy here at home. She is always constantly dancing...Moving her feet while she is eating and even doing her hair!!!!!
(Perhaps, i should take the duct tape and tape her to the wall like the photo Mark posted!!!LOL!!!)
She is WackyDuck on the kids' thread. She hasn't wrote in a few days though...So much 6th grade homework! but she will post over the weekend.

Thanks Melinda! Your DD is one of the ones Lara wanted to talk to since they take the same four classes. She was worried that the older girls like Bre wouldn't want to talk to her because she's only 8:( Dance is dance, right? Definitely a common love there! Lara's actually been dancing since she was 3, so this is her 6th season. She's gotten to be quite good by now! (I have to say that - I seem to spend half my life in the car or sitting and waiting at her lessons!)

I'll let her know to go ahead and post on the weekend.

Arlene

yeah, tell me about it....That the story of my life!!!! Thank goodness i have a DVD player in my van...I used it many times even if it watching my son's Scooby Doo movie!! LOL!!!!

Believe me, Bre wouldn't mind talking to Lara even if she is 8. Dance and Disney is the story of her life!! As the matter of fact, Bre told her friends at school that she is going to Disney in a few weeks and their response?? "AGAIN???" LOL!!

Oh I forgot, Scratch, WELCOME BACK!!!! Hope you had a great time!!!

Saw on the news just now on CNN and Disney CM's may STRIKE?????
YIKES!!!!! Figures, it would happen just in time when i am going there in 19 days!!

I'm not sure if there's a place for me to say this, but I'm hoping to attend the Dis-meet onboard. It will probably just be DH and I. We'll let the kids play in the club and send my parents off to relax!!

Okay, it's bad when someone is able to hurt the feelings of someone else on this thread. I need some of you computer geeks to help me figure out how to put that picture of Geo on the bottom of my post so Melinda won't be mad at me anymore. It was an act of God that I was able to put the purple ribbon there. My punishment for offending Melinda will definitely be that I'll have to live with Geo for the rest of my DIS life because I'll never get it off again. Maybe Jeb Bush will run in four years, and I'll be regarded as very astute in realizing that he would be the candidate in '08 instead of too stupid to remove it (they look almost identical to me - I bet a lot of people wouldn't realize that it was Geo instead of Jeb.) I don't mind having the purple ribbon forever because it will always be a reminder of the value of today.

And, Mark, I don't think I'm clever enough to insult you . However you sound like such a drunk, I can promise you any size alcoholic beverage you want as I suspect you will be so drunk by Sunday am that you won't remember if I bought you a drink or not. How was that? I know . . . weak, but I'm working tonight and I'm tired. I'll try some other time.

I guess I insulted Texans, Californians, and people who like LAX also. And Mark, of course. I'll apologize to the residents of those two states also. If someone finds me some silly bumper sticker slogans, I'll put those on the bottom also (please note, I meant the bottom of my posts not my bottom. There's no reason to call attention to the width of that.) However, I refuse to retract my comments about LAX. Easily the most miserable airport I've ever been to. :thewave:

OK, I am lost right now and need help! (about many thing, but that's another story....
Who do I have to contact about a room for 8/19?

Thanks for your help!!

It's finally Friday:Pinkbounc

National Guard jet strafes school near firing range
11/5/2004, 12:39 a.m. ET By WAYNE PARRY The Associated Press
LITTLE EGG HARBOR, N.J. (AP) - The target was an object on the ground well within the confines of the Warren Grove firing range, a 2,400-acre scrub pine expanse used by the military to train pilots in bombing and strafing techniques.
But when the heavy gun in the left wing of an Air National Guard F-16 fighter jet fired Wednesday night it sent 25 20mm rounds smashing through the roof and zinging off the asphalt parking lot of the Little Egg Harbor Intermediate School 3 1/2 miles from the range.
Military investigators are trying to determine how it could have happened.
A custodian was the only person in the school when the shots hit at 11 p.m., and no one was injured.
The jet that fired the rounds was assigned to the 113th Wing of the District of Columbia Air National Guard, based at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. The plane returned there after the shots were fired, an Air National Guard spokesman said.
Military officials would not identify the pilot, however rumour were running rampant within the National Guard base after Air Force One had landed hours before this accident, and leaving shortly after the mishap.. Operations were suspended at the firing range pending completion of the investigation.
Police were called after the custodian heard what sounded like someone running across the roof.
Police Chief Mark Siino said officers who responded noticed punctures in the roof. Ceiling tiles had fallen into classrooms, and there were scratch marks in the asphalt outside.
The pilot of the single-seat jet was supposed to fire at a ground target on the firing range 3 1/2 miles from the school, said Col. Brian Webster, commander of the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard, which is responsible for the range.
The plane was flying at 7,000 feet when the rounds were fired from the M61-A1 Vulcan cannon in the plane's left wing. The weapon fires 2-inch-long lead projectiles that do not explode, Webster said.
Webster said he did not know what caused the gun to fire, however did confirm the fact that the pilot had been a former member of the Texas Air National Guard that was fulfilling commitments from an earlier 2 year duration. The pilot who now lives in the Capitol area of Washington was being interviewed with the help of an English speaking interpreter.
When questioned the pilot would only comment "I was merely staying the course. Stay the course." He was last seen walking away surrounded by a number of men in dark suits and sunglasses, with earpieces.
"The National Guard takes this situation very seriously," said Lt. Col. Roberta Niedt, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. "The safety of our people and the surrounding communities are our foremost concern."
Mike Dupuis, president of the township's Board of Education, said school workers are mindful that the firing range is nearby.
"Being so close to the range, that's always in the back of our minds. It is very scary. I have children in that school and relatives that work there," he said.
Schools in New Jersey were closed Thursday because of a teachers convention.
The Warren Grove range, about 30 miles north of Atlantic City, has been used by the military since the end of World War II, long before the surrounding area was developed.
In 2002, an Air National Guard F-16 that had been practicing at the range crashed along the Garden State Parkway. The plane's pilot ejected safely, and no one on the ground was hurt.
Errant practice bombs were blamed for forest fires that burned more than 11,000 acres of the Pine Barrens near the range in 1999 and more than 1,600 acres in 2002.

Hi DonnaDavid

Thank you for posting such a nice apology online. Sometimes the problem with online threads is that words can be very flat and seem harsher than intended without inflection or body language that can clarify the words. Melinda is a very generous soul and I'm sure she will understand. I can't speak for the states of Texas or California though!;)

As for LAX, I'll let you know after I experience it in August. I've never been there before, and most of the Canadian flights only go there (at least at a reasonable cost!) I'm not looking forward to it, but it's a necessary evil I'm happy to live with if it gets me to Disneyland and this cruise!

I'm more worried about getting from LAX to Anaheim. We DON'T want to rent a car and find our own way! I guess I'll need to look for a "Happy Limo" equivalent in LAX. I'm not sure I want to drag "the Seniors" onto a bus that makes multiple stops. I know they'll be stressing that their luggage will be getting off without them!

Happy Friday, everyone!!! I'm starting to get ready for Christmas this weekend. I'm taking Lara for her Christmas photo tonight, then I can work on the cards in the next couple of weeks. I proudly announced that I wanted to do them now so I wouldn't be stressed over them in December. My DD looked at me and asked "would you rather be stressed in November?" LOL Hopefully it won't come to that this year. (I know it will, but it's early enough that Hope Springs Eternal!)

Well we had terrible weather this morning, snow, blowing and miserable drive in.
Going to go to Buffalo to watch a Bill's game on Sunday. Son and DIL are taking me as my Father's Day/Birthday gift from this year. Should be fun but hopefully the weather will be OK.
We drove in L.A. this past trip and imho Arlene not much worse than the 401 in a morning or evening. I AM an impatient driver (yeah one of my many faults) but I just drove with the mindset who cares, I'm on holidays and just take it all in. I left myself loads of time and it was fine. The only thing is I was relying on DW for mapreading/guidance. :crazy2: We were still friends afterwards so it wasn't too bad :)

Off to see Olivia Newton John tonight at Rama.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Whats going on in New Jersey?

Yes, Grumbo, us New Jerseyans are wondering the same thing -- what's going on?? Of course, I'm sure we will never get the real explanation why that trigger was pressed, but thank God no one was hurt! I sure would be afraid to send my kids to that school now, however

When we were in Key West on our last cruise, I had my 9 yr old son mapread/navigate instead of Sandy. He was doing a better job. It must be a "male" thing. Once Sandy even suggested we ask someone for directions and my son said, "Mom, we don't need to ask, we have a map right here!", brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it. ;) ...Mark

A picture of Grumbo? I don't know if that would encourage me to remove the picture or make it bigger...;)

Just kidding, I have removed the W picture, since we all know who the president is, and will be. At least I hope we ALL know!

Have a great weekend folks!

Okay so someone messed up on a firing range in NJ. Having lived at Ft. Dix for some time , (granted many years ago)
you learn that mistakes happen. The married officer housing was on a hill and the jets from Maquire AFB routinely used the housing for mock straffing runs. The kids played in the back yards and would wave at the jets as they went screaming over the houses. Some how the babies even managed to nap with the noise going on. I do wish they had not been using that kind of ammo so close to any civilians. At least ours were always practice without ammo.

DH says he has been into LAX and will avoid it at any cost. Too big too busy etc. We're doing Orange County. Of course we have a stop over in Cincinati. Oh well can't have every thing perfect.

Nice windy day around here. All our neighbors Maple leaves have blown into our yard. Our trees haven't dropped yet. It's amazing how lovely their yard looks, not a leaf to be seen. While ours looks like we are holding a major garage sale for leaves. Be nice if they would off to help rake our yard. But it ain't gonna happen.

Grumbo,

Doesn't appear too many read your article in detail. I loved it! You obviously have too much time on your hands!!

HEY! My dh decided I was "the one" when we took a trip to San Francisco together pre-marriage and I was adept (very adept mind you) at reading maps! So, don't even go there...Sandra is just trying to torture you on purpose!!!

ARLENE: Dh wants to write the DL tips with me, so we'll do it this weekend. Thanks for waiting. :) How did your dd's speech go? That is a treasure! I was doing Christmas shopping this morning also - hope you had fun!

GRUMBO: Have fun seeing Olivia tonight, saw her years ago in L.A. before she had her cancer. Still LOVE her and especially her Grease songs - (now does that ever date me)

Time to go get lunch for dd's school picnic lunch day. It is sunny and in the 60's here today, gonna rain later in the week and dd's new rain jacket is missing in action (a reversible Puma one we just bought her...argghhh). Hope to find it at school.

TGIF!

I admit I read the post from Grumbo with my tongue firmly in my cheek. I also went over to CNN and checked out the story. I really is funny with Grumbos' additions. Without them I admit to being thankful that it happened at 11 PM and not 11 AM.

Just checked out the DIS info on WDW and Christmas. Must get DH to read the posts. Getting really excited and they help fuel the excitement. :cheer2:
