Another western repo lurker......bad news about this plan....Deck 7 aft is locked about dusk each day.....at least that's what the guy locking it told us in May.....

DenverVal, I am having problems also. I tried this morning and I tried again tonight.

Hi all,
Just checked out the excursions on Holland America for Mexico...Acapulco had 5...and the city tour/cliff divers took 4.5 hours !!! So I guess we could go 5 times. Mazatlan, where we are not going had great excursions...including a Tarzan like thing through the jungle. DH will scuba dive wherever possible, but I would like something different, and the Tarzan thing sounds like too much fun. I can't imagine that DCL won't handle this in a way that makes us happy, but I wish we KNEW. DH is miffed because he would also have enjoyed the rain forest/jungle tour in Puerto Quetzal.

We wanted to do the Mayan ruins tour in Puerto Quetzal but it's a 10 hour excursion and we were going to be there something like 5 hours. Even if they extended our stay in PQ to 12 hours there'd be so few people that can do the excursion the other 2,000 people would be bored out of their skulls. :(

Since leaving Acapulco would have prevented most of us from seeing the cliff divers, I'd be thrilled if they extend our time there....

Here is the reply I received from DCL: However, I did not express disappointment about eliminating PQ -- I expressed disappointment about not adding another port like they did for the May Repo cruise.....

"Thank you for your e-mail.

We truly regret any disappointment you may have regarding the elimination of Puerto Quetzal from our 14-night Panama Canal cruises. However, we appreciate your sharing your thoughts and welcome your suggestions and observations regarding this change.

Unfortunately, the timeline for the East bound voyage does not allow for a stop in Mazatlan, which is why we have lengthened our stay in Acapulco. We believe that this revised itinerary combined with our terrific onboard offerings will provide our guests an even better overall experience.

We continually evaluate our operation and appreciate your feedback. We look forward to the opportunity to sail with you next year.

Sincerely,

Tracey, Guest Communications
Disney Cruise Line "

Can't wait to see what the "terrific onboard offerings" are going to be!!

'Maybe we should be very careful what we wish for...cuz you might get it!!'

I am so sure they will come up with great onboard stuff that is not offered on the May Repo which we will have a better time than getting off the HOT SWEATY islands!! Like i said before, i am not going to fret anymore...i will have a great time no matter what and i am very lucky, as well as you guys, to be on the once in a lifetime cruise...I have been on other disney chats, talked to few DVC and DCL reps and they all stated that we are so lucky to be on this cruise, some other people can't afford it, can't take off work or whatever other reason, and also they can't even get ressies now for the May or Aug cruise as they said they get calls daily inquiering about the Repo cruise..
It is so true what some of you said, Panama is what we wanted, all other islands are the icing on the cake!! You guys are great and i am looking forward to meet all of you either at the Dismeet or on the cruise. :)

Bmwdsny ....

Actually, you are SO right. We have also decided not to sweat this and take it in stride. Whatever happens, happens. The whole excitement for us was bringing the Magic home and all the goings on with that.

We have had so much rain and flooding these past 30 days that it has caused damage to our house and property, including our car trunk flooding, our basement has had continual water and our roof and walls on the second floor are now leaking after yesterday's rain because there's just no where else for the water to go. Nothing has a chance to dry out. :umbrella:

Anyway, the reason I brought that up is we were on the verge of cancelling next year because of these repairs but all decided we would do everything we could to hold on to that reservation because we know it is a chance in a lifetime. :boat: Soooo, after all this weather nonsense these past few weeks, a missing port doesn't seem to be that important any more -- as long as we just get to go! :moped:

We have been away on holiday and I'm a bit out of the loop on this thread. Can someone please tell me how the itinerary has changed. Do we get an extra sea day or is it that we have an extra day in Acapulco instead of somewhere else?

KEH,
DCL is dropping Puerto Quetzal...which was too short a stop for excursions anyway, and added on to the Acapulco stop...now we're there for 24 hours. The WB repo has a day in Mazatlan...since our cruise is 6 hours shorter...time change and a little earlier arrival at the end, DCL is saying they can't do Mazatlan on our cruise. I am not happy about this...if I want to see cliff divers in Acapulco I can do so during the day, will actually see more than at night...also Mazatlan has great excursions. I have emailed DCL but have a feeling they'll be sticking with their plan for now anyway.

KEH.....

So far (until further changes), this is what DCL is changing:

May Repo loses Puerto Quetzel but gains Mazatlan as a port.

August Repo loses PQ, but instead of gaining another port, we get an overnight stay in Acapulco. However, the ship leaves port the next morning at 7:30 a.m., so you won't get use of that day in Acapulco -- only the ability to stay later the night before.

invaderzim...so sorry to hear of your water problems..just wish this awful rain would stop....we hit a terrible rainstorm/thunderstorm on the way home from King of Prussia...you couldn't even see the cars in front of you. What a lousy summer we've had and it is August already. But like you, I have learned to roll with the punches....my husband's plant is hanging on by a thread and he said that there are all kinds of rumors that they will be closed by October with no severence pay (even though it is in their contract because the plant has no money) He has worked there 33 years! Yesterday he came home and said he hurt his arm/shoulder at work...today he saw the company doctor who said he might have a torn rotator cuff!! Life is a joy but it could be worse. If DH loses his job with no severence pay, we may just be able to scrape by to pay for this cruise but time will tell. It was very nice to meet you three at the meet..sorry we didn't get to talk more.

Pixie dust is headed your way that the rain will stop and your house will dry out!! Mary Jo

I'm also sorry to hear about your water problems. It seems to bee common here in very rainy PA! It is really unbelievable how much rain we've had here.

Mary Jo hopefully the plant will stay open and all will be OK. Good luck to you.

Mary Jo: I feel for your husband and your family. My husband works for Campbell Soup and they just went through another layoff (the third one in 5 years). He was lucky, but it was nerve wracking for several weeks! My thoughts will be with you -- and lots of PD!. :wizard: It was very nice to meet you and your family. Hope to see you on a cruise someday!

Kathy: Great fun on Saturday. It was wonderful to meet you and your family and everyone else. Hope we can all do it again sometime. :D

Full coverage is on miceage.com. They wrote about it on Disneyland's 49th birthday.

Actually the pictures I was talking about was from the brochure we were given when we checked in to make that Mickey on Saturday morning. I haven't seen this brochure anywhere else. It shows an Alice photomosaic, and another one of the ghosts from Haunted mansion. These things look like they'll be so wonderful to look at.

Hello, just got back from the Warren County Fair (NJ) and i am glad to be back since it is so hot out!! This summer just stinks with the rain and humidity!!

To invaderzim, Hope everything will be OK..Flooding is the pits...My DH parents got flooded to 4 feet back in 1984.

MaryJo: Let's hope your DH jobs holds well..that is tough when one loses a job...

Prayers on the way.....

Melinda-

I feel like a stranger, but I think I have finally gotten the DSL working through the wireless router. It took over 2 hours to straighten out the mess DH made of "his" laptop, then about another hour with Verizon and DLink. But all seems to be better. Still slow to load "new" pages, but that will get worked out.

Mary Jo, that is crummy news for your DH. I hope it doesn't end up that way. My old office will probably be closing with in the next year, as AT&T is getting out of the residential market, and that was the main stay of the office. When I started in that building in 1995 there were 260 people. When I got laid off in 2003, there were about 50. I'll send good severance thoughts out for you.

I agree too with bmwdsny (?), this cruise is going to be great, no matter what. Staying in Acopulco over night is not so bad. THere is a ton of stuff to do there, not just the divers. I would venture to say that DCL may make more changes before the May sailing and even for ours. This isn't a traditional cruise where the ports are the prize, this is a repositioning cruise, where getting there is the most important thing. We are lucky that DCL is arranging port stops, they could have sold it as all sea days, with stops only for fuel.

I hope that people will not jump all over DCL for what they percieve to be unfair changes, after all, DCL has NEVER done this before and they have a lot of details to work out.
