LOL - Sure you are, Melinda! Your DH, DD, DS and your parents! Your "private" table just happens to be in the vicinity of about 100 of your closest "friends"!

(Don't you want to request your table right next to Mark and Jazzman???:jester: )

YOWEEWOWEE!! Just got back from voting!! 1 1/4 hour wait on line to vote!! that never happened in my town, all that wait!!!

Gee, i can't have my own table??? We deaf people do live in our small little world...

Well, i admit, I really would not mind sitting next to Mark, Grumbo or Jazzman, Bob, (Izzi) (even if he does drools), and even you!!

It going to be the Best Feast for 2 weeks with all the best FOOLS!!!!! ::yes:: :jester:

:cat:

Wow Melinda an hour and 15 minutes.
We were really lucky. When we went there was no one waiting to vote. Walked right in did it and walked right out. We have friends who live slightly south of here and when he voted this morning at 8:30 there were 50 people in front of him. Said it had never happened before.

Welcome Katholyn- you are very welcome to this very ODD group . However you will fit right in if you like Zinfandel and Martinis. Margeritas okay in a pinch.

Mark I think you can probably add Phil and I to the list of people taking the bus to MCO. That'll be two more. There might be another 3 but I have to talk to them first. Try and do that tomorrow.

Melinda as far as I know Disney doesn't do tables for 1. Nice try tho.
By the way your singing cannot sound like a cat in pain... We found out a number of years ago that there is only one thing that sounds like that... your 14 year old daughter practicing on her bagpipes. She played them for Liberty (local high school) along with 15 others. I will admit you should have seen the reaction from our three cats. Does the word levitation give you any ideas?

Hmmm.... gotta wonder if DCL is monitoring this board

For the record my sister & I are both Virgos -- and as a member of the sign - I guess I will have to concede defeat in the obessive complusive planning dept. All I have planned is the cruise, HOJO resevation, bus to pier & back, linked ressies for late dinner. Esp. since some members have all their flights, cars etc. done.

But with this group is going to have great time ....

One favor from a CA member -- can you get current brochures for CA & DL ? I love to look at them and plan our routes through the parks. Plkease PM me :Pinkbounc

Thanks

{{{HUGS}}} Marsha. I will be sailing with KarenNY. Looking forward to seeing you in August. This is my birthday cruise :)

We also didn't have to wait in line at all to vote. We walked in, signed our names and voted. That was it. Now the wait begins......

Welcome Katholyn!

Hey, I like all your signs, you are good people, LOL! ;) Notice neither Mark, Grumbo, Jazzman, or izzinmac gave out their signs...CHICKEN!!! ( or more like, what in the heck is this gal up too???)

DisneyElf, here are the website maps for the parks. If you prefer actual brochures, I'll get you one for each park the next time we visit, might be a couple of months. I'm still not up to all the walking of the parks post surgery, but I'm ready to get back soon!

HURRAY for everyone VOTING!!!!!!!

Marsha- I thought we scheduled a "date" already for dinner!!
Hopefully, Disney will put some solo travelers together.
Where are you staying after the cruise??

How was your trip to WDW??

Renee'- I think I missed your post about which airport you are
flying out of. Was it Newark or Allentown? I will be
going out of Newark, if you are, which airline are you
using?

I have a few questions for the So. Cal. Disneyland experts in this group: (I know there's a Disneyland forum, but it's not fun compared to here! I have to make best use of my internet time!)

? 1 - Will I be able to see everything with two Disneyland days and one DCA day? Given that it's August, will this have to be "commando-style" touring (opening to close with no breaks)?

? 2 - How late are the parks typically open in the summer? Would it be late enough to allow a mid-day return to the hotel to have a swim before returning?

? 3 - Do I need to order tickets before leaving home or are they available at HOJO or somewhere nearby? Every guidebook I've read suggests having tickets "in hand" before arriving at DL! If not at Disneyland, where does everyone get them? The D-Store here in Canada only carries passes for WDW.

Another very subjective point - what are the "must-sees" considering we've been to Florida a number of times. DD will be 9 and thought Mission:Space was a ride to go on multiple times!!!

Thanks so much for any insights and/or info you can provide! I love planning!

Hi Bob,

I wound up getting our flights on Frontier out of Philly since they were so much cheaper than Newark. We're renting a mini-van to get to Philly for less than a limo so I'm pretty happy.

Arlene - If you have 2 DL days and 1 DCA day that should be enough time. I would think an afternoon swim and some evening shopping would fit into that commando schedule as well.

I am not sure about park hours, but they should be about the same as WDW.

DCA can be done in a half a day and 2 days for DL should be enough. DL is smaller than WDW and rides are closer together.

Most of the good neighbor hotels sell tickets. Otherwise, buy them when you get there. The other option would be to go through Costco online if you are a member or AAA. Our Disney store carries park hopper tickets. I can check out prices if you want I need to go get more Disney dollars.

Linking up for dinner - It will be late seating for us. The cast of characters are Myself (35), DH (37), DD (8), My Dad (63) and My Mom (61). Diverse group. We are not opposed to eating at a large table. Good conversation always goes good with a good meal (and lots of wine).

Hi Arlene,

Dh and I will answer your DL questions sometime this week, OK?

Drinking a Bloody Mary tonight?! I'm considering it, mostly because I love the spicy Bloody Mary mix, it's tasty even without the alcohol!

My new co-worker was laughing with me about Canadian tire $ this afternoon, her dh is Canadian. Thanks to you Canadian friends on this thread, I knew what Canadian tire $ was!!!

Hope your week is going great!

Barbara

I showed up to the polls at 7:15 this morning and had 55 people in front of me and the line continued to form behind me...17 degrees F and we had to wait outside on the shaded side of the building. My toes were frozen for hours!

I don't hold much faith in the zodiac, but DH does...I'm a Gemini and he's a Scorpio. As far as Chinese signs, I was born in the year of the Rabbit and DH is a Ram. According to our zodiac beanie babies, they think it's a good match too! ;)

You guys sure :chat: a lot! My boss is being a big meanie and won't let me lurk during work hours (found out he's monitoring my internet usage), so I spend a lot of time reading after hours  Too tired to post after all that reading!

I've switched over to go on the May repo cruise and need to also switch cruise lists!

There'll also be a cabin opening up on the August repo this week since I'm going to cancel mine.

Arlene you mention about doing Disnelyand and DCA commando style. I think I mentioned before but in case I didn't in one of my senior moments, you should have NO problem doing that in three days.
We did it in a day starting at 9 am going til 10 pm this year. Was it the best way to do it? Perhaps not but we had a blast, and saw nearly everything we wanted to plus our DD did many rides over and over she loved so it worked out well. (with the help of Sarah and Kennett from these boards I might add).
The two parks are so much smaller than WDW (Heck I stand to be corrected but I think they would both fit into the MK).
Now we were there in the summer on a weekend BUT next year being the 50th anniversary may make it much busier.
DCA I think was 10 pm and we watched the parade before leaving at around 9:30 and watching the fireworks. No problem doing the mid day swim thing, depending where you're staying will dictate the ease you can do that of course.
We bought ours at the gate as they didn't even advertise 1 day hoppers were available on line and I guess it was brand new.
Don't know if you have Air Miles but you can get Disneyland hoppers with them up here. Pretty good deal too.
I'm always leery of buying DL as opposed to WDW because there IS an expiration date on DL where as there isn't on WDW. You know your WDW are always going to be good.

My experience with DL is somewhat limited as opposed to others on here I'm sure but it IS a different experience than what you've seen in Florida, but lots of fun.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Barbara,

That would be great if you could send them in a couple of months when you are feeling better !

We did DL & DCA in two days - back in '02 - and we didn't get to DL until after 1:00 PM -- no parades that night since it was off season in May. We also didn't hit all the rides .... but it was fun.

Can you order the tickets from Costco if you are a member in New York ?
