HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!

Deb in IA - I saw on the main thread that you asked about the Wave Phones. I know you will get plenty of answers over there but I wanted to let you know our experience with them was awesome! We were the frist cruise on the Magic in December to have them and they really helped us keep in touch.

We had 4 different cabins in our group so it was a great way to keep in touch and let each other know where we were. Alyssa -DD(14) used hers to keep in touch with the other teens so they would know when and were to meet up. They also worked on Castaway Cay. They were not hard to carry around - I usually kept mine either in my shorts pocket or in my small purse. I have a iPhone so the hardest thing for me was texting the old way with the letters as part of the numbers.

Each cabin has 2 phones(concierge can get 4) and it is free to use them. I thought I read somewhere that you could rent additional phones but not sure of this. If they are lost or damaged it does cost you $250.

Whats that song by REM it's the end of the world as we know it and I FEEL FINE! Whew made it. Hope everyone else did as well.

The end of the world was a hot topic at school this week. Some interesting thoughts. Mine was a pizza and a cold beer. Just because I couldn't get a flight to WDW in time in case it was true. :rotfl2:

Everyone must be enjoying this weather. At least I am finally a sunny day here in Maryland.

Have a great Sunday and glad everyone made it through the "end of the world"

THANKS for the info!!

I think we will use these a lot. Our "kids" - ages 20 and 16 - will find them handy, and I think this gives them some freedom to go and do their own thing, without being tethered to us. But also lets us stay in touch!

I understand they are not waterproof. Do you need to keep them in a ziplock bag?

Crazy weather yesterday, huh? Hope you guys are all OK!

No, they are not waterproof. None of us used a ziplock bag but it would probably be a good idea if you are going to be around the pool area. We had a cabana at CC and I just left it in the cabana. I really liked the phones because they allowed me to keep up with the other people in our group without having to search all over for them. Alyssa used them a lot to keep up with the friends she made on the cruise. We had late dinning and some of them had early so it was a great way for her to find out where they were when she got done with dinner.

That was crazy weather yesterday. We are all good. It actually missed us by a little bit. It was just north of us(our county did get a tornado warning) and south east of us. I thought about you guys a couple times yesterday afternoon and hope all is well in your area.

We dealt with tornado's i guess it has been a month or so ago. I just read the sports illustrated article on alabama and the athletes perspective. The story is very sad and about made me sick with the amount of devistation.

As we approach this weekend it is important to thank and remember those that serve this country and protect our rights and freedoms. I especially want to remember 2 of my past students that gave their lives last year as Marines serving in Afg. I had both of these students in my classes and they both died doing what they loved and their dedication to the American people gave me goosebumps when they would stop in to say hello. Their Pride and dedication will never be forgotten.

Thank you David Smith and Curt Shea for your ultimate sacrifice for my family and The United State of America!

Reflect on your freedom and those that protect that everyday from our soldiers to our police, fire, medical....

Scott

Very well said Scott!

I would like to take a moment to thank all of those that protect and fight for our freedom. It is greatly appreciated.

Where is everyone?:sad2:

I'm here! Just haven't had a chance to post.

Brittany(DD) and David are coming to Iowa next week for a short visit and we are trying to plan a quick trip to Miami to help them look for an apartment. It's just one thing after another. :upsidedow

:wave2:

I've been checking in, but just have been super busy - I find out that DS has to sing with the HS Choir at Baccalaureate TONIGHT! It was originally scheduled for tomorrow, somehow, it got changed and I wasn't aware of it, until I got an e-mail from his choir teacher! (DS doesn't pay attention very well.)

DH had to go to Mason City today to give a 3 hour lecture, and just got back not too long ago.

And . . . washer decides to quit. Actually, it goes through all the cycles, and skips the "drain" and "spin", so the clothes sit in the water. Repair guy came today, and will have to replace the timer.

It's always something . . .

Where is everyone?:sad2:

I've been lurking online but not able to post. DD18 had her tonsils removed and has experienced some complications. :sick:On top of that I still have a full time job and stuff kept "breaking" for the past 2 weeks. Stupid telecommunications. Why do people want to call anyway.... there IS the internet. Oh that's right. I need a job.:lmao:

I HAVE been doing fun things like paying for the dining plan before and after the cruise. Every pay, I'm gonna do a little bit more so this vacation will feel "free". Fruity drinks will add up, I'm sure and I am prepared for that but, I'm trying to make this the least expensive Disney vacation ever.

Last year we couldn't even go because DH was not working (Morgage documentation/Home appraisal business) so we rented out our DVC points. Broke my heart but it had to be done. This is why I don't want to touch my savings at all.

The family is all excited by the fact that Lion King is on Blue Ray soon AND they're re-releasing it in theaters in 3D:3dglasses in September (just in time for my Birthday). Now, you'll figure this out when you meet us in person. My husband and I have Lion King tattoos:eek: So we are HUGE fans.

Anyone else with Disney Ink?

You can add DGD and me to the FE list.

Nancy (grammie)
Nicole 16
Cabin #8679

Just saw the teen thread, I'll see if I can get nicole joined on the board this weekend and maybe she can makes some friends

Would love to request a seating with someone, hopefully with a daughter near Nicole's age. Nicole gets along with all ages, so even younger/older is fine. She is a sophomore in HS, straight A student, cheerleader, likes all kinds of music and games. We have main (early) dining. Please let me know if anyone has room for a couple more people.

Oh haha - should have said something about me too! LOL I'm the grammie, fifty-something and look just like the fairy godmother (see pic below, and that is Nicole at age 8). Act like her too. Flakey, sing offkey, always losing stuff. I get along with everyone, young and old alike. :grouphug:

Here's the link for the teen thread. Not a lot of activity yet but hopefully it will pick up as the summer gets started. DD has not even had a chance to post on it yet. I think she will try once school gets out but she is pretty busy this summer too so we will see what happens.

Thanks for the information. 60days for us until we are wdw. My ds14 is shy so will see if he will jump on thread. If it was his brother he would probably lead with the most posts. Hot hear on the east coast. it is 9:40 and already warmer that Orlando.:lmao: Supposed to be in 90's all weekend. My team is in a baseball tournament and glad to have white uniforms. Have not heard to much about the new star tours other than some have come off of it not feeling great. My boys can't wait.

Have a great weekend and enjoy family and friends. Another sad day today as 8 american soldiers were killed in afg. Keep their families in their prayers.

Will you have a "final" FE list? I have some items already, but I want to make sure I have enough goodies for everyone.
