August 2, 2011 disney dream

Wow, most of your kids are already on summer vacation, our system in Europe is a bit different, so Alena has another month to go. On the other hand, we have ski vacations in February, Easter Vacation, Autumn Vacation and of course Christmas Vacation. This sums up to 13 weeks school holiday in total.

We have been very busy, my husband announced that he might take an expat job in New York City, starting next spring. So far, our little girl does not speak english yet, but this would be a great opportunity for her and us. So we start checking a lot of things, where to live (my favorite would be Rye in Westchester), what school (private or public), etc. I used to spend a lot of vacations and job trips in the US, but to really live there, wow.

Nothing fix yet, but just the idea of it gives me the thrills :scared1:, this is a zillion times the organisation package than we do for a US vacation. If it becomes true, great, then we are ready for a great adventure. If not, we all have no bad feelings, because we wouldn't have to say goodbyes to our loved ones, friends and neighbours.

Counting the days until we sit in the plane to Miami, and not long before we see you all. We first spend a few days in Fort Lauderdale and Captiva Island before we enter THE WORLD....

See you soon and great start into summer

Sounds exciting. Good luck on deciding what to do. I have a friend herre that is thinking of moving the family to England for at least a year. Her children are elemtary age and they figure it is now or never.

No rem for us. I can't cut and paste correctly.:surfweb: We are going to palo. We played much better tonight and then found out our games tomorrow are being forfeited  We are in the hunt for league championship and I hate getting an advantage this way. We will take the double forfeit but takes 2 games at least 8 at bats from my kids. My son if :headache: fuming mad right now. I also have to return the blue wrist bands that I bought for the players to wear in honor of dads. UGH! Oh well under 39 days and I will be at my happy place. Hopefully with a league championship.

Happy Fathers day weekend to all the dads out there!

Scott

Sorry for your game disappointment. Good luck though. Some of my happiest Mother's Days were sitting on the sideline watching my DD play soccer. I just love this game.

Maybe we'll see you at Palo. The Remy menu just doesn't interest me especially with my shellfish allergy. Hard living in Maryland with this allergy. I wasn't allergic until I became an adult. Dang it.

Great Idea Kahleena- Thanks for doing this

Since we are talking about meets, I would like to make some nametags. I will make them to fit in the pocket that comes with the lanyard on DCL, but they won't have a lanyard with them. I'll make one style for adults and one for kids (younger than 18).

Post after this and I'll start keeping a list. I will put all nametags in this format

Real Name
(DIS Name)

Be sure to tell me what you want for each, or if you just want one.

Example:
Adult
Nancy (kathleena)

Child
Nicole (future DISer)

Like the fish extenders, I will have a cut off of July 1st to give me time to get them all printed. I will hand them out during the meets as I see all of you. It will be a great chance for me to meet everyone!

Okay, here's my thoughts for DIS Meets. If anyone wants to set up something else that's fine too but this is what I was thinking.

Aug 1st - Pre-cruise at WDW

Belle Vue Lounge at BWV after 9:30pm. Right now we are planning on doing Illuminations then walking back to BWV and have a drink or two in the lounge before heading to the room.

Aug 2nd - Embarkation Day

2:30pm meet - but here is the question - we could meet on deck 11(terminal side) by the Donald Pool - there might not be a lot of room but if anyone has kids swimming in the pool then they would not have to move, or we could meet on deck 13 forward - apparently there is plenty of free space in this area(but I don't think there is any cover in case of rain or shade from the sun) for a meet.

Sail Away - unless it is raining we will be on deck 12(terminal side) for the sail away party if anyone wants to join us there.

For all of these meets I will try to figure out a way for you to be able to pick me out. Once I decide on something I will post it on thread.

The meet at Boardwalk at 9:30 sounds great. I've never been to Bell Vue. Is it kid-friendly? We will also be staying at EPCOT through Illuminations as well. We origionally thought of Beaches and Cream.

I hope that we are on the ship by 2:30 to meet there. We're using Disney transportation so we're sort of at their mercy on arrival time. If not, a Sail Away meet at Deck 12 terminal side sounds good. I know Nancy is making us all name-tags (thanks Nancy) so hopefully we can pick each other out that way.

On another note - Fish Extender shopping and planning is going well. I do so love to plan! We have a small group. Newcomers are welcome. Shut off for the Fish Extenders is: Tuesday July 5th. I will publish a list of rooms and participants in addition to a map of the staterooms to visit to make it easier on everyone.

The Belle Vue is just a small lounge and I would think it is kid friendly. It is on the same floor as the check-in area but is on the Boardwalk Inn side. It also has a verandah area where we can sit outside.

Hopefully, you will be on board and can make it to the 2:30 meet but if not we will look for you at the sail away party. I am one of those that likes to get to the port early so I've never done DCL transportation. Wish I could help you there with a possible arrival time at the port.

Even though I really enjoyed doing the FE last cruise, I think we are going to opt out this time. I still haven't figured out how hard(or easy) it is to get the FE's to the concierge suites. From what I've been reading it sounds like it might be a challenge so I think we will just skip it this time. Hope you guys have fun!

We won't be at Disney World before the cruise, so we will have to do the Embarkation Day meet. Our kids won't be swimming, so we are flexible.

We are planning to get to the dock early, so the 2:30 meet sounds great to us! Just let us know when and where!

Sounds good Deb. I will decide on a location in the next couple of weeks and let everyone know.

On another note - maybe we can plan a meet at the mall sometime in July. Alyssa is traveling a lot this summer so I have to work around her plans. She leaves on Friday to visit her grandmother in Vegas for 2 weeks and then she will go to Sea World camp on July 18th -23rd. So maybe we can figure out a day in there somewhere. I can always come without her too. If not, we can just meet on embarkation day.

I'm pretty flexible - anything would be OK with me. It would be nice if Mark can meet Alyssa, but I know the summers can be crazy! We should be around until around July 20 - then we have a family camp and choir camp just before the cruise!

Sounds good to me. I will PM you next week and see if we can set up something for when she gets back from Vegas.

Ok who has their docs? Coachycp and ours have not come yet when do I start to panic and call dcl?

I don't have mine yet. Dizzyworld is on the cruise right before ours too so that's why she has her docs. We should probably see ours sometime next week. If you booked through a TA they might go there first and this could take a little longer. I can't remember if ours came straight from DCL or our TA for our last cruise. If you do online check-in you really don't need the docs. The only thing that will be in them you will need is the luggage tags. I would not start to panic until we are about 2-3 weeks out.

Both sets of cruise docs for both of our cruises came on the same day but in different envelopes in the regular mail. Both cruises are booked through a TA. :confused3

I like the new booklet. It's different than the last time we cruised in 2009. More details about what we have purchased, our excursions, dinner/brunch times at Palo, etc. And the luggage tags are there too.

I agree, I wouldn't panic at all. There is plenty of time.

Even though we checked in online, the docs make the cruise feel real. I always love when I am at work at my wife tells em that they arrived. Can't wait to get home and open them. :yay:

we have our cabin assignment (6686) is there a DIS list for this cruise?:dance3:

Dear LeiLani, this all sounds perfect for us. On August 1 we will have dinning reservations at Yachtsman Steakhouse and stroll then over to the Belle Vue at BWV, we will see how long my husband and girl will join us, but I am sure in for a drink or two :thumbsup2

:welcome: Welcome Aboard! :welcome:

jham - has put together a list for us and I believe the most recent is on post #272.

JMTStone - is in charge of the FE list. If you want to join in on that fun you need to let her know by July 1st.(might be first week of July but close enough)

kathleena - is making name tags for everyone. If you look back through the posts you will see the information she needs. The cut-off for this is also right around July 1st.

In post #425, I've listed some possible DIS meet times.
