August 2, 2011 disney dream

My DS14 is getting an award at 8th grade honors ceremony. :scared1: High schooler next year. He will do great. He is going in with 2 credits already, algebra 1 and spanish. Other DS11 will be entering middle school.

I take it the letter grade is the issue with the grades that need to be put in. Is your son heading to college next year? Another big step.

Did I mention that I could leave tomorrow!:thumbsup2 We are only planning on going once this year but I know that once cruise is over I will be chomping at the bit to get down over the holidays. We had such a great time last year over new years. Froze our tails off as I packed one pair of jeans and said ah it will warm up it always does. I think I looked like rudolph after EE. Ok going to try to grade my finals and get grades done tonight so that I can clean up tomorrow after my son's awards ceremony. A lot of teachers at my school retiring as the BOE is messing with retirement benefits. I for sure will be working till I am 100. Hopefully in Disney but working.

The kids do grow up way too fast. Enjoy the 8th grade graduation.

Yep, it is the 4th quarter letter grade. The computer did the grade without it being completed. Some of the missing work was classwork while my DS was in the class that the teacher misplaced. And some other classwork was missing because it was done while he was taking an AP final. He asked the teacher what he missed, they teacher said he was good, then it showed up in edline as missing.:confused3 The teacher was going to fix everything over that weekend when he ended up with a fracture skull. I just don't want to drag this out have the summer, and I want the correct report card for us and the correct transcripts sent to the colleges. He does start college in the fall.

The only thing that makes the end of a vacation easier is planning another one. ;) I love seeing the holiday decorations. :thumbsup2 Happy dreaming.

can someone post the teen thread again. I can't find it. Know someone posted it but either my eyes are going bad or I am just clueless.

In regard to meets: We are up for whatever. Would like to get kids together. We will probably stay for fireworks after our poly ohana dinner. In addition I am up for bc/bwv. I have to check my spread sheet as only 4.5 days at wdw I am sure my DW will have me going and going and going.... Don't tell her I said that.

I am also interested in on board meet. New to this ship but like the idea of outside under the sun with a cold drink in my hand. 41 days until wdw. I hope it goes fast. Need to get my wdw fix.

Jon and I have reservations for the last night of the cruise for Remy. Now we are reconsidering.

He and I are having second thoughts... do we really want to spend 3 hours of our last night there? According to the Navigators posted, there is a show that night that I wouldn't want to miss. Jon likes wine but I'm not a big fan so we wouldn't do the wine pairing.

I think I would rather eat regular then visit one or two of the adult clubs for a nice fruity drink :drinking1....

I think I'll go troll the reviews:surfweb:

Back from Miami and just trying to catch up. We actually got back on Friday but I haven't had time to post. We found a place for the kids to live but they need to get their finances in order. Brittany found out she only has to do a year of grad school at UM so she doesn't start until January. That gives them a little time to make plans.

Great pics Deb and Nancy!

Yeah! for the the last day of school.:yay: It sounds like you had a rough year Scott and I'm sure you are glad to be done. I have so much respect for teachers, especially those at the middle school and high school level. I have spent some time in Alyssa's school and on field trips and I don't know how you guys do it. I know for sure it's not the job for me, they wouldn't like how I handle all the disruptive kids.

We've had a little change in the make-up of our group. Alyssa's friend won't be able to join us so my Dad will be the third person in our cabin. My Mom and Dad have done several cruises with us in the past including the last one over Christmas. My Mom passed away in April so Dad is trying to keep busy. When Alyssa's friend had to back out I figured it was the perfect way to have Dad join us.

So here is an update for our group:

Me - LeiLani 47
DD - Alyssa 15
DDad - Chuck 67

We are in cabin 11002

DD - Brittany 22
DD's boyfriend - David 22

They are in cabin 8022

David's Dad - Lee
David's Mom - Angie

They are in cabin 11014

David's Brother - Michael 24
Michael's girlfriend - Theresa 22

They are in cabin 8072

Nancy - thanks so much for making name tags. We have a lot in our group so I am just going to give you the names of those related to me. Alyssa and I are the only DISers anyway.

Adults
LeiLani (DVC4US)
Brittany (DD of DVC4US)
Chuck (DDad of DVC4US)

Child
Alyssa (Lyss or DD of DVC4US)

Thanks again!

My wife is a teacher, and knows EXACTLY how you feel. She's also counting down the days.

Your picture so makes me want to be on the beach in Destin or Panama City Beach. I was born and raised in Niceville until I was 14 and that's where my Dad lives. We own a condo in PCB and I love the beaches on the panhandle.

We have reservations for Remy too, but we have it on the Sea Day. I have heard 2-3 hours for dinner so it should be pretty interesting. I agree that I probably wouldn't want to do it on the last night.

We always like to go to the crew skit on the last night. On the Magic/Wonder it was called Pub Night but I think on the Dream it is called Crew Farewell. I believe it is at 10:30pm in Evolution and it is so funny. I know it's hard to catch if you have young kids but if you get a chance it is a great show.

First of all, WELCOME HOME! Glad to hear the house hunting was successful and that Brittany has some time to get settled.

Secondly, when are your Remy reservations? We are going on our Sea Day too, at 7:30 pm.

Good to know about the Crew Skit. We've never heard of that before, but we will definitely check that out this time!

Crew skits are awesome. Not kid friendly however. Put them to bed grab a cold one and be ready to have some fun. One interactive thing they did was if everyone can remember the old college drinking game I've never! it does get a little risque from time to time. You can look on you tube for the skit If I was not at sea a ____ I would be. I watched it the other night and :rotfl2:. Much better in person however.

School is out woohoo:banana:

Hi Deb! Thanks for the welcome home.

Since we couldn't get a table at Remy for 7 we have two different reservations. One reservation is at 7:50 and the other one is at 8:20. We are going to let the younger adults have one reservation and then the other adults will take the other one. We are hoping that the chef's table will be open that night and maybe they will give us that so we can all sit together. Now that my Dad has decided to join us for the cruise we would have 8 adults and be able to book the chef's table but I don't think my Dad has any desire to eat at Remy. He's kind of a meat and potatoes man. I'm sure we will see you guys there. We also have Palo brunch booked for that day at 10:30am so I'm going to have to work out that afternoon so I can fit in dinner at Remy.

The Crew Skit is awesome and hopefully it is the same on the Dream as it is on the Magic/Wonder. It is one thing we make sure we do every cruise. It's a great way to spend the last night on the cruise!

Doug wanted me to say hello to everyone as he has to get up early and work tomorrow. :lmao: Actually both of us will probably not get any sleep as our team was horrible in our game tonight. Sleep well coachycp. See ya at the game tomorrow.

I was paged at 5:30 AM by the help desk for something I already fixed at 7 PM yesterday. Now I read this....:headache::mad: I am sorry about the game. You win some... you lose some. Its a teaching tool. I know it hurts. Taylor (18) still talks about the travel tournament they went to where she was the last one up and the tying runner was on second. If she hadn't struck out......

I set up a cabana massage yesterday. If we aren't doing Remy I have a bit of spending money. Has anyone done this?

UPDATED from Post #384

Since we are talking about meets, I would like to make some nametags. I will make them to fit in the pocket that comes with the lanyard on DCL, but they won't have a lanyard with them. I'll make one style for adults and one for kids (younger than 18).

Post after this and I'll start keeping a list. I will put all nametags in this format

Real Name
(DIS Name)

Be sure to tell me what names you want for each, or if you just want one name, either real name or DIS name.

Adult
Nancy (kathleena)
Melissa (JMTStone)
Jon (JMTStone)
Taylor (future DISer - but at 18, still an "adult")
Deb (Deb in IA)
Eric (future DISer)
Jennifer (future DISer)

Child
Nicole (future DISer)
Mackenzie (future DISer)
Mark (future DISer)

Like the fish extenders, I will have a cut off of July 1st to give me time to get them all printed. I will hand them out during the meets as I see all of you. It will be a great chance for me to meet everyone!

I had a lot of catching up to do! The last few weeks have been pretty busy with the kids getting out of school and all that goes along with that.

Jeanne (jham)
Mike no dis name

Dear Kathleena, what a great idea, thanks so much. Here our input:

Adult:
Andrea (Swissgirl66)
Urs (Swissgirl66)

Child:
Alena (future DISer)

Wow, most of your kids are already on summer vacation, our system in Europe is a bit different, so Alena has another month to go. On the other hand, we have ski vacations in February, Easter Vacation, Autumn Vacation and of course Christmas Vacation. This sums up to 13 weeks school holiday in total.

We have been very busy, my husband announced that he might take an expat job in New York City, starting next spring. So far, our little girl does not speak english yet, but this would be a great opportunity for her and us. So we start checking a lot of things, where to live (my favorite would be Rye in Westchester), what school (private or public), etc. I used to spend a lot of vacations and job trips in the US, but to really live there, wow.

Nothing fix yet, but just the idea of it gives me the thrills :scared1:, this is a zillion times the organisation package than we do for a US vacation. If it becomes true, great, then we are ready for a great adventure. If not, we all have no bad feelings, because we wouldn't have to say goodbyes to our loved ones, friends and neighbours.

Counting the days until we sit in the plane to Miami, and not long before we see you all. We first spend a few days in Fort Lauderdale and Captiva Island before we enter THE WORLD....

See you soon and great start into summer

Scott - I guess we will see you guys at Remy too!

No rem for us. I can't cut and paste correctly.:surfweb: We are going to palo. We played much better tonight and then found out our games tomorrow are being forfeited  We are in the hunt for league championship and I hate getting an advantage this way. We will take the double forfeit but takes 2 games at least 8 at bats from my kids. My son if :headache: fuming mad right now. I also have to return the blue wrist bands that I bought for the players to wear in honor of dads. UGH! Oh well under 39 days and I will be at my happy place. Hopefully with a league championship.

Happy Fathers day weekend to all the dads out there!

Scott
