August 1st 2009 - Eastern 8/1/2009 The Eastern Caribbean Castaways

Hi all,

I've updated the first post with our recent additions and also the celebrations.

According to my countdown its 102 days till our cruise.

Anyone staying in a suite can make their excursions and palo requests -

I'll have to keep our fingers x as when its our turn I'll be away at a dog comp in my motorhome so I hope Daves mobile internet will be working on his laptop:scared1:

I don't know about anyone else but I'm really started to get excited
.

:grouphug:

Wow! Tomorrow will be 100 days till embarkation! My DD loves to make paper chains, so we will have to start one before too long and tear off one link each day.

How is everyone - just bumping us back up to the first page.

Dave and kim - once the 90 days has passsed I will contact DCL,if its still ok with you and link our reservations so that we can dine together. I don't want to do it before incase it muddles up our accounts and we can't book .;)

I just found out today that I'm teaching the same year group next year and I'm really pleased with that.

We are on the August 1st sailing, as well. I'm not so well versed in abbreviations. So here goes:
We are:
Grandma (my mother)
Grandson (my nephew) 15yrs old
Husband (mine)
Me (Wife & Mommy)
Two Daughters, an 8 month old & a 2 yrs and 8 months old(they have the same b-day).

We might try and make the meet - do you have to do anything special to be invited or just visit this board frequently - which I do - way too often. I don't post much. However, I love to read all the info from those that do. This is our second Disney Cruise. We've been to WDW several times. We can't wait for the cruise. Less than a 100 days!!!!

:cheer2:Welcome

You are more than welcome to join us, no special invitation needed. Feel free to post and ask questions or just watch and read if you want too.

Its starting to get excited as we are getting closer.:banana:

For those wanting to participate (its not compulsory) we are doing a gift bag exchange.

Our meet is 3pm in the promenade lounge (deck 3 aft)

Sorry for what is probably a silly question.....
What kind of gift bag exchange? Disney Stuff, Children's Stuff, how much do you spend, etc.?!? I'd love to take part. Can you give me some idea of what the gift bag exchange is?!?! Thanks!!

Hi -No No questions are silly

The whole idea about the gift bag is that you bring 1 bag per family . In it you put things up to a value 0f $10. Its supoosed to represent where you come from - its up to you what you put in -

For example in 2007 i recieved a gift bag from a disser who lived in Montanna - in it was 2 different jars of jam huckleberry and another i cant remeber - there was also little book about jellystone national park and postcards of native animals - it was really great. I have also received macadamia (sp) nuts from a disser in hawwii along with a flower garland that sort of thing

Another thing we have organised is a Fish extender exchange for the children( that might sound funny but its not)

FE are Fish Extenders, they hang outside your door and DISers coordinate putting gifts in them.

Barbara (MsLeFever) is organising a kids Fe for this cruise. If you would like to be involved send a PM to her. What happens is Barbara will collect info on cabin numbers then before we cruise give a list out and perhaps assign a day. When its your day you go round the ship and put a little gift into the peoples Fish extenders. Its a little surprise each day.

See this thread for photos and discussion on the FE
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607&highlight=fish+extenders
Hope that helps
I'm Helen btw And I'm from the UK - on page 1 of this thread the very first post shows you all the people who are confirmed on our cruise
:flower3:

Wow, you are great!

The gift bag thing sounds interesting. I'm sure we'll do that. I'd love to do the FE things as well. So, for instance, if we did the FE thing and it was our day to fill all the FE with little goodies - appx. how many would I need to do? I don't want to committ to looking up 50 cabins some afternoon. However, if we're talking 5 or 10 then I'd love to get involved in that, as well. Can you help me out on this one? Thanks!

Sounds great! :goodvibes

Good to hear that you are teaching the same year group next year! I'm hoping to teach straight 2nd grade. There will probably be a 2nd/3rd split next year and I really don't want to be the one to teach it!

Hi

At the moment we only have 11 families on board and I know there not all doing the FE's - so I dont think there will be too many.

Barbara (Mslefever) is the person to send a Private message to and ask

100 DAYS!!

We had a party at our house today to celebrate! We made virgin Pina Coladas and pizza and cupcakes and a Mickey tablecloth. We made a 100 link paper chain (we tear one link each day) and bought the Disney DDR for the Wii (but haven't had to the chance to play it yet.)

So far we've only got 4 kids involved in the Fish extender exchange (2 families) If you want to get your kids involved please send me a PM!

Time is moving faster - dont you think

Happy Saturday everyone:goodvibes

Just popping in to say Hi! I'm busy getting ready for our May trip. I know it's hard to call it a trip when you live 30 minutes away but we treat Disney like any other vacation. Of course, my family and coworkers think I'm nuts but I'm sure my fellow Disers understand. :)

Have a great weekend!!!

Dear Helen, et al.

I was sure that Helen has posted a listing of the special dinner nights somewhere here, but I can't find it. If anyone knows, would they be willing to post the days for formal night, pirate night, etc. I'm trying to decide when to schedule Palo, and not sure when to go for it.

Thanks!

Hi all,

This is what I believe (taken from dis) but can't guarantee it has not been changed.:grouphug:

Departure Day (sat)
Sea Day / Formal

St Maarten / Pirate Night / Fireworks
St. Thomas
Sea Day / Semi-Formal
Castaway Cay

Also on dis as of 4/4/09 there will no no staggered dining times it will

... yesterday! DH, DD17 and I will be on board. We were lured away to other cruise lines by deals we couldn't refuse (Holland America was wonderful -- for adults), but we're returning to our first love!

I may not be able to read all 31 pages of posts. Can I ask if there is a list of Dis'ers and a meet set up?
