August 1st 2009 - Eastern 8/1/2009 The Eastern Caribbean Castaways

Thanks Helen! I guess I am just anticipating problems with the girls, knowing how HM they are. I even mentioned that we may be going on a Disney cruise yesterday and my oldest (Allison, 5) said she didn't want to go to the kids club because she wanted to be with us--even after I showed her pictures and told her about all the great activities. UGH!!!! SHe is not even open to making new friends and says she only wants her one friend, Hanna.

I will definitely voice my concerns to the waiter when we meet him/her, esp. if we are unable to get an earlier seating. I will try when we check in. When we check in at the desk (before boarding the ship) is when I should see about it, correct? I guess I need to not worry so much and not be so compulsive about planning. It's hard to do when you want everything to be just right, although there are no guarantees of course.

Maria
Hi Maria - when you board the ship you will be given a navigator - on this it will tell you the place to go to change dining reservations - Go there straight away - it is usually Rockin Bar D and says between 12 and 3 but people do cue and sometimes they start early - this is taken from a recent navigator See page 2 top left on this http://www.wdwinfo.com/Photos/DCL-Navigators/02-28-09-Magic.pdf;)

Thanks Helen!!

Does anyone have a picture of FEs? That sounds like it would be fun for the kids. What type of goodies go into the goody bag at the Dis meet at the promenade lounge? Sorry for so many questions...kinda clueless here.

Hi For fish extenders see this thread it has some photos http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607&highlight=fish+extenders

RE gift bags - in 2007 i recieved a gift bag from a disser who lived in Montanna - in it was 2 different jars of jam huckleberry and another i cant remeber - there was also little book about jellystone national park and postcards of native animals - it was really great. I have also received macadamia (sp) nuts from a disser in hawwii along with a flower garland that sort of thing

With the FE - some presents ive got in the past a pack of playing cards from someone in atlanta, gold choc money and pirate necklace, fridge magnets, little whiteboard and pen, glowsticks

Hope that helps;)

Having the meet on embarkation day means that through out the week when walking round ship you see a friendly face and someone to say Hi too.

That sounds like a lot of fun! The FEs are a really neat idea---especially for the kids to look forward to. We live in Collierville, TN (outside of Memphis) but I am from New Orleans, which is far more interesting so maybe I will combine the two to create a gift bag for someone. Thanks for the examples and for clearing that up. I am suffering from insomnia and am sure I will be zonked in the morning...oh well! I am so ready for a vacation and counting down!!

No Problem - I thought you must be up really late as its 9am here in the UK.:rotfl:

As there are more people joining our group :thumbsup2 I have updated the very first post to try and keep a list for everyone. Please can you check it and let me know if I have made any mistakes or if I have missed anyone off (I dont mean to offend anyone if I have) Thanks Have a great Sunday:goodvibes

I know we have some celebrations but cant remember what they are -If you want me to add them to first post just let me know. I'll be celebrating my birthday (all be it a week early;))

Welcome to our newest members. We now have several young kids and a few teenagers. Marci has two boys who are 10 and 13, but I think that our newest members now have the oldest kids.

Maria - another idea. I've been reading the room service threads and I don't know what your girls like, but wanted to pass along two things. 1) People Rave about the cheese and cracker tray. 2) Although not listed on the menu - room service does have uncrustables and mickey head ice cream bars. Those items might be useful to you.

And fwiw - I have a DD 8 (closing on 9 in August) named Alison, and a DS 5. It might not work, but my DS (who alternates from really shy to really outgoing) might feel close to your daughter since he has a sister with the same name.

Happy Sunday right back at ya!

Iam so happy at the mo:goodvibes

Hi Joy!

Thanks for that info. I am sure we will be using room service a few times at least. I am hoping to get to switch to an earlier seating--stuck with late/on waitlist as of now.

Allison (will be 6 in October) is emphatic that she will not go to the kids club. She tends to be quiet and introverted most of the time. My friend Trudy and her 6-year old, Hanna, will also be coming with us. Maybe your son and my daughter will get along. That would be great. It is almost like she is determined to infringe on any thought of "me time." Lindsey (3) follows along with whatever Allison does, but I am really not sure that she will go to the kids club even with bribery.:lmao: It would be great if the kids hit it off though!

Hi Fellow Disers!!! :wave2:

I was able to convince DH to try a 7-night so we are officially booked and ready for this cruise. It will me myself (Shamiki), DH, DD13 and DD4. I look forward to chatting with all of you over the next few months and meeting with you on the ship.

I definitely have to research the FE exchange. It sounds like fun!

Sounds like a great idea!

For the FE exchange, our friends do want to participate. Their kids are Matt (13) and Mia (8). I don't know if either of us will buy an FE, but we will put some kind of a bag up, or could the little gifts be put in plastic bags and hung from the fish? Will that work?

Cool - I think any sort of bag will work!

It is SO exciting that more and more folks are joining our group! Posting here should help make the time go by more quickly!

Helen -- I'm so glad you got what you wanted! Le Cellier is a must do every trip, as is Crystal Palace for us. For a buffet with characters, we think it has some of the best food. The only other place on your list we've eaten at was Ohana. We did it for dinner and it's the only place in WDW we've actually hated. It may have just been a bad night, so don't just take our word for it. You and Dave might just love it.

I'm celebrating my birthday the first day of the cruise. Our neighbors are Scott and Anisa Moretti -- you have them listed. Please add their kids Matt (13) and Mia (8). Thank you for keeping up.

Dave and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary (a month late!) Our actual anniversary is July 7th, but with our daughter's wedding on July 18th, we decided to take our anniversary cruise after the event! :)
