August 1st 2009 - Eastern 8/1/2009 The Eastern Caribbean Castaways

Hi Dan and all

Happy weekend!:goodvibes

Dan where is cape cod? I think I've heard the name but can't place it?

Kim hows the weather - hope the snow has stopped.

I think we are going to have sun tomorrow - cold but sunny all my daffodils have come out so I have some colour in my garden.

oh well off to do tea.

Take care
x

The snow was short-lived...just half a day, thankfully! Now it's officially spring and things can only get better! :cloud9: Glad you're getting some beautiful color in your garden! :)

Have a good weekend, Helen (and all the other cruisers!)

No cruise info here yet - I think my postman thinks I'm stalking him lol.

I'm thinking of doing the St. John Barefoot Catamaran Sail & Snorkel but need more info before doing deciding.

Dave is still doing the dive at St Martin - hopefuly he'll get back at a decent time so we can look around together in the afternoon.

At Castaway Cay we love serenity bay. So will just be hanging out there. The last cruise we were on in carribean we were first to get there and had the pick of hammocks and chairs - not that it gets crowded. I love puling a chair to the waters edge and reading a good book.

Think we are going to have a BBQ this afternoon. Its lovely and sunny if somewhat cold but we have a gas patio heater so we should be ok.

Have a great Saturday:thumbsup2

FWIW, although I've not been, my MIL says that St. John is WAY more beautiful than St. Thomas. If we were not doing out specific excursions, that is where she would be. I don't know the specifics of this tour, but it sounds good. Probably something we'd do if we weren't playing catch with the seals.

Thanks Joy -I heard St john was beautiful.

My spring break is next week and Dave and I are going to New York City! :goodvibes We can't wait! This week is conference week for me at school.

Oops! The last post was mine, not Dave's! :) I guess I'd better check the log-in name before I post something next time!!

Helen -- I think some people get Easter week off for spring break. We already had our spring break, so we'll only be off for Good Friday and the Monday after.

I hope you and Dave have a terrific trip to NYC!

you'll have to tell me all about NY - I cant wait to go in the summer

Could I ask- what is conference week? Sounds interesting.

I went to the hairdressers today and to my shock I only have 4 more visits till we go away- I'm sure time will fly after Easter but I simply cant wait.

Thanks Marci - BTW I love your moving tag from the tag fairy.;)

I have been blessed by my 4 tags from her:goodvibes

Conference week probably isn't as interesting as it sounds! We meet one-on-one with the parents to discuss their child's report card and progress in school. :) Since you don't know how they may respond, it's always a bit nerve-wracking, but it has actually been going very well. I only have 2 left tomorrow and Friday I can leave early with some comp time. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I had been giving advice on a thread and up it popped the next day. You do have some terrific tags!

Good luck on the conferences. We have them three times a year, and the one with my older son has to be attended by him, and all 6 of his teachers and two speech teachers attend. He's getting better about talking/answering the teachers. It's so tough as he already has an expressive problem, so they make him even more nervous. Luckily, the teachers come and go as they are attending other conferences.

I feel for your son! I hope his next one goes well. :goodvibes It definitely must be hard to have to talk to that many adults!

Hi Guys

I'm going away this morning with the girls from work (17 of us). We are going to york which is a beautiful city and stopping over night. Shopping food and wine - sounds great:goodvibes

Dave was wondering last night as I was packing how long i was going away for- he says he just can't understand it. :lmao:

Have a great week end all

x

Helen -- I hope you had a great trip.

I have to admit -- I was getting lost on names, kids, ages, who wanted to do the gift bag drawing, FEs etc. so I went back to the start of the thread and took notes. Now I know where my DS13 gets his memory issues. :rolleyes1

I've been doing a lot of planning the past week or so. I've finally booked the transfers from airport to WDW to port to the airport, have decided on ADRs for WDW, and have researched the excursions. Now we need to meet with our neighbors to decide on a lot of the details.

Some interesting facts I've gathered on info people have shared:

We have families from the U.K., Washington State, Pennsylvania x 2, and Texas x 2. Around 20 adults, 8 kids. At least two with shoe obsessions, a couple of scuba divers, and at least 3 actively trying to lose weight. We also have at least 6 teachers in the DIS group, counting traveling companions, two anniversaries being celebrated, and one birthday.

I hope everyone is having a great week! :)

I volunteer to organize the kid's fish extender swap! Post here or send a PM if your kids want in!

We are now under 125 days to sail! I'm planning a 100 day family party on the 23rd!

(it seems I can't write a statement without an exclamation point!)

I second Marci on that one, Helen!

My MIL and her good friend traveling in our group are from MD, so we can add another state to our list.

Also, I'm a quiet shoe addict. My problem in that I'm now too into comfort to wear truly fashionable shoes.:confused3 And I'm packing too much "stuff" as it is to want to bring too many pairs. However, I deeply appreciate those in our group who will!:cheer2:

I hope everyone is having a great week! :)

TG it's almost over. We start our spring break on Saturday, and I'm not sure I'm going to make it. Tomorrow is the end of our grading period, and I'm at my wits end! TG for a cruise to make it worthwhile!princess:

We just returned late last night (actually early morning!) from our NYC trip. It was fantastic and I'm sure you and Dave will thoroughly enjoy yourselves. I highly recommend going on a New York bus tour (Grayline, etc.) to really see everything. They offer tickets for hop-on, hop-off options, so you can get off pretty much anywhere in Manhattan (at least where the major tourist attraction sites are!) :)

Now comes the cruise!!! It won't be long now! :yay:

Good grief! I did it again! I forgot to see if it was Dave or me logged on. The previous post was mine, not his! :rotfl:
