He sees a problem with 10 pairs of shoes? 10 isn't too many, especially taking in to account we HAVE TO have dress shoes, tennis shoes, dressy sandals, casual sandals, beach shoes, house shoes...the list goes on and on. And we can't be expected to wear the same color with everything. And, your trip is much longer than just a week. All things considered, 10 pairs of shoes seems too few!

I'm excited about a 3 p.m. meet on the first day. I had so much fun at the last DIS meet on the Magic. For those who have never done this, there is a lot of flexibility on items to exchange. Some people brought gift bags full of items and some people brought one thing to exchange, like a postcard from their hometown or a pencil. It's just fun getting to meet people in person vs. over the DIS.

I'm also glad to see more frequest posts. Is everyone getting more excited? I booked this trip January 08, so it seemed like forever to wait, and now it seems more real.

I bought 2 more pairs of shoes this week - and I thought they would be great for the cruise

Oh - I forgot -

You are going to love Wicked - great music, fabulous sets and it hits the emotions pretty hard too!

I second the idea to read the book - the play lives on its own pretty well but there are elements that are sort of unexplained that will make more sense if you've read the book. Although - I think the show is better than the book - it is pretty dang dense.

Dave's has been reading the book for the last year and has not had a chance to finish it. I think I might just borrow it from him. I want to read it before we go.

Thanks for the scoop Helen. I'm actually looking for a new watch this summer. Randy gave me money last year on my birthday to buy something when we were at Atlantis, but it was a quick trip and I didn't see any good deals. I'm hoping for some this summer.

I don't know if there is a Nordstrom's department store in NY, but if there is, you HAVE to go buy it. I find way too many shoes there to buy.

Kim - I noticed on your signature the tree house villas at SSR.

This is one development I don't know very much about.

I own @ SSR do you know if I would be able to book these @ 11 months or are they classed as different to SSR?

ALso are they diffERENT sizes ie can I get a 1 bedroom one or are they all grand villa size?

Hi Helen,
The good news is that the Treehouse Villas are part of SSR and are available for booking in the 11 month window for SSR owners. I believe there are 60 treehouses and most are scattered along the woods next to the river. There will be a boat dock for traveling to Downtown Disney and they will have their own community pool.

They all sleep 9 people and have three bedrooms. They open in May of this year but the reservations just opened a couple of weeks ago.

Yes -- we heard a lot on the news about pancake day. IHOP even gave away free pancakes, asking that instead of paying, a donation be made to a charity.

I LOVE pancakes, but I'm on WW for our trip, so I had to pass for now...

Anyway, I wanted to know what caster sugar is. In America we have something called "Powdered" or "10X" sugar - which may be the same thing. I ask because I remember a friend who travelled to Great Britain and couldn't find powdered sugar Anywhere. She ended up asking a relative to mail her some. Just curious!

The every day sugar we use for tea and coffee is granulated sugar

Caster sugar is like this although the grains are a lot smaller - so it is used in baking.

The icing that hardens here - we call royal icing.
Now you have explained frosting it sounds like our butter cream icing

cakes lovely but complicated.

BTW Marci congrats on WW - I'm so sorry I have been talking about cakes on this thread.

I too am trying to lose some weight before our holiday. As I know I will put on as the portion sizes in USA are vast compared to here.

Dave and I say Americans who come here must be really dissappointed. We dont get free refills either.
