August 19, 2007 Disney Wonder

Welcome BacK Dizzyworld! Actually it was Courtney who went to school with Ace. Both of them loved hanging with him. The first go around ( 3 day) the teen club was less crowed and more their age. I think they were a little overwhelmed by the amount of kids on the 4 day and we glad to have Ace to buddy around with.

As far as the DVC, check out some of the threads in that forum. From going to member receptions many people have used thier points outside of Disney and I have not heard complaints. Most spoke highly that Disney standards were carried on outside of Disney. I know DVC monitors things like that. I think that the idea of using outside of WDW is continuing to grow. When I first bought in there were no where near as many options. Now there is the Adventure Collection...etc....

Everyone has started back to school so I guess we are now moving into the fall routine. Boy that summer just went fast. :)

MickeyBeast...... "Actually it was Courtney who went to school with Ace. Both of them loved hanging with him." (Something went wrong with the quote feature.)

Sorry about that. Alli thought they were cool too.

Another question about DVC, have you found that it really saves you $$$? About what %, if that is possible?

Hi, Everyone -
Such a fantastic time! My DS absolutely loved every FE, and it worked out so well with the delivery times we all chose, there was something new almost every time we went back the the room. His routine was to run ahead, "frisk" the FE, yell out "cool!", then open the door.
There were so many of us, I kept seeing wristbands, and saying hello but did a terrible job keeping names straight. Maybe next cruise I'll do better. We all agree a 7 day would be welcome - time to start calculating points. ;)
Thanks to everyone for their wisdom and guidance before the cruise. Our Steward asked about the FE, and thought it was neat.
What a let down going to a non-Disney location after the cruise. We spent 3 nights at the Nick hotel, and ended up at DD each night. I've become a Disney-quality only traveler. Again, thankful we have DVC. Leaving out the maintenance fees, because I'm just not THAT good at math, this trip has now saved us as much as we spent on DVC. That means the next 32 years are FREE!!
Hope everyone had as good of a time as we all did, happy to see our conversations continue here.
Ahh, the questions begin again :
How do you heat seal the autographed pillowcases and t-shirts?

Would you all like to share a specific "magic moment" from the cruise?
Mine would have to be the first entrance to the ship, that beautiful lobby, and DS being shocked that they announce us!

Our Magical Moment had to be our serving team. Of 6 cruises these by far were the best (Grace from Jamaica and Alfredo from Peru). We really clicked with them from the 1st night of the 3 day cruise. We specifically asked to keep them on the 4 night and our wish was granted. I think that made them feel special too and we had a blast those last few nights. They truly understand what it meant to work for Disney and make some magic. DW and I are doing a 4 night in February to celebrate our Anniversary and specifcally asked for them again. :wizard:

Hello MickeyBeast,

It was great meeting you and the family. We kept running into you guys all over the ship. We had Rolly from Indonesia and Jackie from Jamaica as our servers and they were fantastic.

Our room steward Willy was way better than our steward on our first cruise. She gave us different towel animals in both of our cabins every night and she was very quick and pleasant every day.

Looks like we won't be crusing DCL until 2009 at the earliest. We want to do a seven day and we plan to spend a week in Mexico next year.

We definitely want to sail on the new ship in 2011 so we will save our pennies for that too.

Dana,

Thanks for the wristbands. The girls actually wore them:thumbsup2

I've done the following methods:
- put your dryer on the hot setting, and let the items take a spin in there for about 30 minutes
- turn items inside out and iron them.

I usually use the first method.

Glad to hear everyone made it home safely. We had to sit at the airport for a while. Our flight wasn't until 2:30p.

It's been hard getting back into the normal routine. School started on Monday. The 2nd night home my DH had me cracking up. He set the dining room table for dinner (which we never eat in except on holidays), put water in wine glasses and grape juice in another wine glass (we didn't have wine, so he improvised). He set up his plate all nice, with garnish.. then thanked an imaginary "Anthony" for the wonderful dinner... Later that night he asked "How come Alex didn't give us chocolate on our pillows tonight?".. :rotfl: Oh the joys of cruising.. hard to come back to reality.

We all had a wonderful time. My DS really enjoyed the FE gifts.. except no one would go with me to deliver them.. so I delivered them alone. I enjoyed meeting the people I had a chance to meet. It seemed like I ran into De (Benseven) everywhere. :goodvibes It's always nice to see a friendly face.

Next summer we are taking a break and will do a less expensive vacation b/c I'm hoping to go back to WDW for Christmas for a few days (I've never been there during Christmas). We hope to cruise again in 09, but not sure if we're looking at the summer or spring break.

Here's a few pics to share..
Here's us on the 1st night...

Here's my magical moment..

Before I begin, I just have to say that this was my DS and My 2nd cruise, but my DH's first (he was nervous about cruising so didn't go with us the 1st time).

Ok.. my magical moment is the 1st night, my DH went out on the veranda to see the sun setting. The look on his face at seeing the beautiful sunset and how amazing the water looks. It really made me feel this trip was worth it.

Here's a pic he took that night...

Jen76b- I love both of those pictures. The look on your son's face is precious. Thanks for sharing!!! Magic wishes to you! :wizard:

Joe and everybody--no problem on the wristbands. I am glad everyone liked them. Have to admit I was a little nervous. Would they arrive and what they would look like at such a cheap price? And would you all like them.

Shirley--I love the fish picture. He looks so proud.

Jen--Beautiful pics!!

My magic moment... ...there are several.
1. Watching the kids' faces when they saw the ship and announced us. I think that makes you feel so special.
2. Our servers where wonderful. Vivian (germany) and Vijay(India). When we missed dinner and they personally brought our anniversary cake to our stateroom.
3. When my DH said "go rebook" :cool1:

I am glad we are continuing to keep in touch and share all our moments.

Hi, All -
Just wanted to say a special thanks the DIZZYWORLD for the fantastic CD. I have already made copies for me to take to work, share with a Disney friend, and keep one safe from over-use wear & tear. Our neighbors must think we're nuts as they can see us in the kitchen, preparing a meal and doing the dances. We all enjoy it so much! Also, it may be the only thing that gets DS7 out of bed for school. All the best to everyone. -D.
P.S. - Ben cried this morning, wearing his graduation cap and listening to the songs, that he missed the cruise. Yeah, Buddy, me too. :sad1:

Yes! The CD is awesome...we have it in the car and keep playing it over and over...Track 6 into Track 11 and it is just like sailing away. Thankfully no Bahama Mamma's as I drive down 95. :rotfl2:

Thanks guys for the nice words about the CD. I know we have listened to the one in our van countless times since we got our copy from Beano from the DIS boards last year. Some of my DD's friends have requested copies. We'll convert them yet.:lmao: (I never thought about making a safe copy.)

We are still playing with all the things from the FE. I'm still getting to see some things for the first time.Tonight we had a battle of mini beach balls in the living room until a phone interrupted our game. And I love the luggage tags too. Who ever did the M&Ms... wonderful. I was thinking the same thing, but the timing was tight. I kept changing my mind about what to do for the FE gifts. The candy bar wrappers is something I've done for many different occassions like my DD's soccer team when they won their division one year. The girls liked seeing their faces on a candy bar.

I'm still impressed with all the things that were given out in the FE. Some of you went way over the top, but I can tell you my kids really did appreciate the many special things. Thank you.

I only wish I would have gotten to meet more of this group....next time.;)

Shirley--I love the fish picture. He looks so proud.

Dana

He is already working on me for next summer. But since he and his Dad will be coming off a 7 day sailing/fishing/snorkling/scuba trip in the Keys with his scout troop the day before the cruise, I think he can pass it up. On the other hand, he is saying he'll pay for it to do it again. This was his 2nd time fishing there. He still wants to catch a shark. I think he wants to see me flip out! :rotfl:

Yep I would be freaking out too if he reeled in a shark. :scared1: My grandma was an avid fisherman. It brings back a lot of memories. But I am a little too squeemish.

Dana

Hi guys! I have been missing disboarding with everyone. Shirley, I just got a chance to listen to the CD you made for all of us. It was fantastic. It's my favorite music to play in the car now for a quick pick-me-up. Thanks again to you and everyone else. We went to our friend's house the other night for a bbq and what did we see...quite alot of mini beach balls floating in their pool (everyone we travelled with on the cruise brought theirs to the party). What a nice dis group we had on this cruise. We are re-thinking our 9/27 cruise to cozumel and costa maya. Heard rumors that we need malaria shots!! and I doubt there will be enough teens to keep my kids busy. We will see. Nice to chat again with you. Have fun!

Hi....only a month later and I see your note. I'm glad you are enjoying the CD. I play mine almost every day. And we just love our mini beach balls. It is something that had crossed my mind to do also, so I'm glad we still got to get them in the end. I wish we could travel in Sept. or Oct. but with the kids and being a teacher it is hard to take off so soon after school starts. It was a good cruise. I do miss the 7 day cruises though. So next year, it is another 4 day cruise.

Take care.
Shirley
