August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

By the way, DH bought some extra wrinkle release spray, so if the weight on the luggage is okay, I'll try to bring some for our UK contingent.

Just doing my part to keep Her Majesty's subjects wrinkle-free.:thumbsup2

oh I've thought of it and am antsy to start...but I don't want my clothes sitting in a suitcase that long.

I have started adding things that I don't want to forget but will not wrinkle. All my dresses are hanging in the spare room beside my suitcases. I'm just ready to get my packing done:upsidedow

So, the kids are away on an overnight from camp. Tonight was our only night to do things for the trip without fear of being caught. DH is putting together FE's and I just finished all the door magnets (thanks Mary for your assistance.)

Mindy and Mindy's DH,

You're angels. Though if this stuff works, I may have to come out to the US just to fill a suitcase of it - Ironing is the job that I hate most :)

I know I can't believe it either. Another week and I have not been on the boards...too busy at dr's offices....but I am determined to get on that boat on the 18th. DH reminded me that August 18th is the anniversary of our first date in "04.

On the wardrobe discussion ...I think I decided to wear capris that cover my knees when visiting churches. DD has a long skirt to put on top of what she is wearing. I was trying to convince DH to get one of those convertable pants...have to see if I can find any in his size.

Don't worry too much about shorts, As long as they are not really skimpy ones :scared1: you will be OK!!! It is more bare shoulders that matter and most churches you go in will have a big box at the entrance of wraps, that you can put over your shoulders or wrap around your waist if you wish. Guys won't have any problems with shorts in most of Europe. The arab countries i.e. Tunisia and Istanbul, are more conservative and you will be expected to cover up, but you will want to anyway, they stare!!!! Get DD to take a light chiffon wrap, you can scrunch it into your bag and wrap it around her waist when she needs it. (I travelled all over Europe with one of these and my little shorts - Those were the days I wore little shorts!) :rotfl2:

Still need to research that. I don't care about calls, just need to know about wi-fi access. Anyone know....if 3G and roaming are off, can I access free wi-fi without racking up a bill?

Yes you can, I had mine off roaming and could still see my Wifi symbol. When it appeared, I put roaming on and my phone updated everything free of charge.

Kate...did you get new shoes?

Yes, went to a great running shop, they gave me some 'neutral' shoes, put me on a treadmill - that was interesting, never been on one before  then gave me several pairs to try out. The videoed me running!!! Got some Asics GT 2510, They were £70, which was more than I wanted to pay, but they gave me 20% off for my old shoes! :thumbsup2 They are very light, although have had a couple of twinges in my thigh and ankle since changing, but I think they are pushing me into a different foot position.

Did WK6Day2 (5K101), it wasn't a fluke, I can run 24 mins with only a 3 min walk in the middle!!!

Just doing my part to keep Her Majesty's subjects wrinkle-free.:thumbsup2

I can't tell you how excited I am about this!!! I will buy you a drink in exchange!!!!

As you can see, a busy day in the office for me. dd is at Sports Camp this week (with broken arm). Fingers crossed the cast comes off next Weds.

I need to do so much for this cruise, not made any firm port plans! Still need to sort FE gifts, print magnets and do on line check in!!! I never pack until a day before - I work better under pressure :rolleyes1

Have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone! We are getting really excited too!!! It is getting so close now! :cool1: We have lots of clothes in our spare room, just waiting to put them in the suitcases! ;)

I haven't even thought about packing yet! Must get out my clothes at the weekend to see what I have and what I need. I going shopping with my friend on Monday who is also going on a cruise (I miss her by a day in Barcelona!) and I'm thinking that we may rack up a big bill...

All this talk of FE's makes me wish I was participating! Would be too soon now to join anyway, even if I could :goodvibes

Mindy,
We've never been on a Disney Cruise, and I'm seeing posts about magnets.... Is there something we should know, or is there something that goes on with the magnets? I'm just trying to do my "due diligence"...

Thanks,
Mike

:rotfl::rotfl2:People decorate their doors. I had a mganet made for our cruise for all of us and there is another one out there...it's on the webpage. Let me know if you need the jpegs. You take the graphic, print it on magnet paper cut and stick. Some people go nuts, other place a few. Search around the boards there is a thread that shows door examples. Normally when you see these doors, you know it is a disboarder's room:laughing:

Speaking of magnets i need to buy magnet paper and ink! I better get started on these things.

Mike,

Many on the DISboard decorate their doors with magnets. DCL will not let you put glue or tape on the doors, but all doors are metal, so magnets work great. I made magnets on my last cruise and have them and I had more made this time. If you look on the main cruise board, there are threads with people who design magnets for free (they never charge, they are very good and they are quick). There is also a thread for pictures of peoples doors...I don't know how to put the threads in a posting, so if someone does, can you post them.

It's fun!

I also love to decorate the doors with magnets. I've done so on my last 2 cruises. My DS who is 16 thinks it's dumb, but I love it! I bought some magnetic paper and the day it arrived, I found some I had left over from last year. I think that means MORE MAGNETS!!! :rotfl:

Mindy,
Thanks for the information. I do not have the Jpegs if you could email to me (when you have a chance) that would be great. Email: mhastava@yahoo.com

We leave 2 weeks from tomorrow!!!

I've not put many clothes in the spare room, but I've got 2 types of sunscreen, hand sanitizer, heels, travel-sized mouthwash, outlet converter, pirate costumes, and money belt all ready to go! I need to pick up one more pack of magnet paper and those will all be printed as well!

Mindy, what a great guy you have !!! How very thoughtful!!

I actually thought about picking up an extra bottle for the Brits but the only one I found at Wal-Mart is huge and weighs almost 3 pounds. I don't have any weight to spare on my return trip to Germany unfortunately so I had to rule it out. If I find a smaller bottle or miraculously have some leftover room,
I'll pick up an extra bottle as well.

I wrote out what I plan to wear for each day so I feel like I am packed "in my mind". Of course, I have a few shirts/shorts/pants going to more than one event so hopefully I will have no food spills, I am bad for that:confused3

Now, I need to do the same for son & hubby and then we can just throw everything in the cases the night before.

I would like to find a pair of Fit Flops before I go back to Germany and then I will have everything I need. (I think!) I tried a pair of Keen sandals for 2 days but I did not find them to be comfortable so I took them back.
Looking for some sturdy shoes to wear while on excursions other than my NB sneakers!

Dan and I did the same thing, we planned out each outfit (tried it on to make sure it was comfy) and then wrote it down. We have the stuff hanging in our closests. So I feel somewhat organized on that front. I am also going to throw in some extra shorts and tees just in case.

When are you going back to Germany?

We fly back August 10th, arriving in the morning on August 11th. Assuming I will not be good for much on the 11th, that leaves me only 4 days to get everything together before we leave for Barcelona on the 16th:scared1:

I hope I am over te jet lag by the 16th:eek:

Wow! Somebody else who makes a list!!! :worship: My family thinks I'm crazy, but I like being packed "in my mind" as well. :lmao: I have made my list, and one for everybody else in the family! :)

Wow, that is awesome. I need to do that. Every time I say I am going to pack light I wind up shoving more clothes in at the last minute....especially for DD.

But where I think I always overpack is toiletries and no matter how many things I bring I always am missing the thing that I wind up needing and having to purchase at Mickey's Mates. I have never brought benadryl with me at all...but now I think it will have to be with me on excursions because the other night I was walking my sweet new dog with DD and I got bit by something on my lip and it started to swell....I had to rush home and take benadryl....

Happy packing everyyone....:cool1::cool1::cool1:If anyone needs extra solid T-shirts Lands End has their really nice ones for $4.99 and free shipping.

Any suggestions for personal misters. I waited to long and all the stores are sold out.
