August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

Ok everyone,

Other than tea and the car thing in Villefranche, were any excursions full?

What is everyone doing in Corsica? We booked the toroise protection center because we did something similar in Grand Cayman and the kids loved it...I'm rethinking it because we can really see tortoises anywhere, how often will I be able to see corsica?

Booking went well last night. Got our Palo brunch booked and a few excursions that sounded interesting at 12:30.

Here are some other things we did on the PC cruise.

These are links to the cruise journals we did as well.

I hope these links work too!

If we would like to do the journal I can chair this ...

Just let me know which port you would like to take on and I can put the final edition together. :dance3:

I think we should do the journal for the kids. Is there a format we need to use. I can get the info and pictures together, but I'm not sure I have the software or ability to put it together nicely....I think the MAC's are better for that...can someone format the information once we get it together?

DH wants to do the Napolean stuff, and I think we both want to wander the marketplace. Probably an on-our-own, but I need DH to sit and look at excursions....

I agree that we should do these. And, while I agree that Macs are far superior to PC's, the last journal I did I used Word with a bunch of clip art. Crzy4dals, what did you use?

I booked Sweet Corsica last night. I don't know if we're going to go, it's a 4 hour trip to a candy factory, which Carolyn Spencer Brown really enjoyed. it gives you time to still explore the town and go to the public beach and see some of Corsica as well. We'll either do the trip and the self exploration or just self exploration the whole day.

we are going to do it on our own as well. I want to take my family down to Bonifacio. I was in Corsica 16 years ago for 2 weeks. I LOVE this island. I stayed on the eastern coast.... I took a boat ride out off the coast that was just amazing.

For Villifrance - we will be meeting up with a my friend that I spent the summer with - I am so excited to see her again and finally meet her children. We will let her be our guide - BUT I want to go to St Paul de vence - there is a pinochio shop there - It is such a quaint area.

Well..managed to stay up past my bedtime to book our excursions:rotfl: Got everything we wanted, which was nice. Still debating corsica...my dd wants to do the tortoise excurion, but I'm not sure it's going to be that exciting...we are going to do the HOHO bus in Malta and go to the Blue Grotto (and visit the local Hard Rock). I think it will be a private tour in Rome -- I've been before, so it will be nice to be able to plan our own thing around what Sage would like to see....like the Hard Rock there....;)....my only request is gelato and an hour on the via veneto to shop!

Off to do more reading and planning....hotels in Barcelona pre and post cruise are next!!!

Lisa,

We have the tortoise excursion booked, but as I said I'm rethinking that one might not be that exciting. Plus it leaves early and after 3 really long days (naples, rome and florence/pisa), I'm thinking the kids may need to sleep in a bit. It doesn't seem like the afternoon excursion has opened up.

In Barcelona we are staying at the Apsis Porta Marina both pre and post cruise...It's not far from the Olympic Village and it's relatively new. We prepaid and got a good rate on it at 1800hotels.com.

Thanks Mindy.
I'm looking at Le Meridien on La Ramblas as I can use some SPG points. The more I read about Corsica, the more I'm thinking we may just do it on our own -- the beaches are quite close by and the town looks quite cute. I think the Tortoises may have to do without us!!!

We got everything we wanted as well except tea. I know on 7 days they have a sign up in rockin bar d and we have lucked out by putting our name on the list.

We did get Palo dinner (night of tunisia was our choice but many other were available) and brunch on day 2 (first sera day at 10:30).

Spa villas were filling up. Only evenings were left on sea days(we chose to do it late afternoon on the corsica day...after all of the crazy ports so we did not have to do a 6pm on a sea day).

Villefranche convertibles were sold out, but I contacted Disney previously about if these cars were automatic or not, and they said some where, some where not and an automatic could not be gauranteed and neither Dan or I drive stick, so we may do a private tour there. We booked nice and eze with wine and cheese in case.

Corsica- we are doing on our own.

Tunis- we booked dougga

Malta- blue grotto

Naples- may do a private excursion but booked pompeii and taste of sorrento in case.

Rome- doing the signature tour (taste of rome i think). It was a bit more than the other tours but it is a small group, you see everything we wanted and eat at a five star for lunch so we were happy about that.

La Spezia- portofino & Santa Margherita

We logged on at exactly 12, booked rome and then straight to palo...around 12:05 and there was no tea!:confused3 I guess we never had a chance!

I also got on exactly at 12 booked my Naples excursion, the off for tea... already all gone.... Oh well.... I have the spa villa booked for two on the first sea day and am trying to convince Darren to go. If not I'll cancel it and I have a stone massage booked on the 1st sea day as a back up. I also have Alone Time booked for Corsica day. If I cancel the couples choice, I'll do both. He'll just have to suffer......

What time is your couples choice? Mine's at 2:30 after brunch at Palo

Glad to see everyone got what they wanted. In terms of Palo tea...there was none available when I originally booked on 5/5. There must be a very limited amount of slots to begin with.

I was reading on the main board about Corsica. I have the Beach Break booked but I am thinking about doing the beach on our own. People posted that it is within walking distance from the port and the beach break excursion was quite expensive.$95 per person is a lot to spend just for the beach especially if there is one within walking distance from the port.

3:00.....

I think you said you have brunch booked too...so if you and I are at brunch and the Palo....Pixie is going to have a hard time coming up with a meet time...I'm meeting you on Wednesday anyway, I'm not waiting until Thursday...I feel like I've know you forever anyway.

Our brunch is on the last sea day... I was keeping the first free for the tea. Of course we're meeting on Wed. I'm balcony climbing over to 8600!!!!!! I"m also sleeping there!!!!!

you can climb to 8600 but I'll be in 8100 LOL - switch the brunch to the first sea day and perhaps I can sneak you onto my ressie for tea...Jim won't mind
