Hi Ellen

Thanks for the info. Now the hard thing is trying to figure out what to book. Have you given any thought to what you are doing in each port?

Susan, Here is our itinerary of excursions:

Malta - might just stay onboard or do the Historical Hunt
Tunisia - Treasure Hunt
Naples - Sorrento and Amalfi Coast Drive with pizza making for the kids
Rome - Private excursion booked with disboards friends, we have a private tour of the Vatican, and are seeing Rome's highlights
Le Speiza - I've booked a private excursion with disboards friends again, I'm the coordinator. We're climbing the Tower of Pisa and then heading to Florence.
Corsica - Beach Break
Villafranche - Either Nice and Monaco or Monaco, Monte Carlo and Eze....

I think I got all the ports if forgot any, I have no plans....

Susan,

We haven't decided on ours yet except for the Disboard group tours in Rome and Pisa/Florence. We have to decide soon, since I think we get to book on 4/20...I'll let you know...

Hi Guys,

i haven't done any excursion planning yet because we are sailing on the oasis of the seas for spring break and i've been busy with planning that cruise. but i will be ready for our booking date. we'll probably lean towards the disney excursions. based on past experience, we enjoy doing excursions that entail more than sightseeing....incorporating an activity worked better for the kids. for example, when we did the disney transatlantic, my DD was not interested in seeing barcelona. but when i told her about a bike tour of the city she was interested and really enjoyed it. in cadiz we went to a bee farm and got to put on all the protective clothing and see a bee hive up close. the bees were smoked out and flying all around us. we also got to sample the honey. DD thought that was so cool. so i'm going to be looking at stuff like that. the treasure hunt in tunisia is the kind of excursion we'll be booking.

during the last disney med cruises, i remember people writing about doing a mixture of short and long excursions. since we are so port intensive, have to think about the kids being able to do long excursions every day.

Hi everyone! Joining the thread!

This is our 3rd DCL but 1st in the Med! Looking forward to it!

Welcome! I saw you on the main board...glad you joined. There's not a lot of us on here, not sure why since I'm told the cruise is pretty well booked. Let me know who's going with you and ages and where you're from and I'll add you to the roster on page 3.

Thanks mindelmouse :goodvibes

There will be me, DW, DD3, and DD6 + the grandparents in another stateroom. We are from Toronto, Canada.

Very interesting - We initially booked the 8 night Dover to Barcelona on Jul 30, but just changed to this 10-night Med cruise a few weeks ago. While taking to DCL staff, this seems to be one of the less occupied cruise, since there are quite a number of staterooms available to choose, the others are all GTY.

that is interesting...my husband has been talking to DCL and they seemed to indicate it was quite booked...who knows? I would think that we would have heard of them discounting it more than...this is one of the cruises that none of the discounting applied to. Perhaps people cancelled and rebooked the cruises that were discounted? We're going this week because between school and camp this is the only time that worked for us.

By the way, you're the 2nd family from Toronto on the thread, ABDmom and her family are from Toronto too.

We went yesterday to REI to pick up the last large piece of luggage needed for the trip! :yay: It's so light in comparison to all our old stuff!!!! I'm continuing to look for another possible new carryon, but might not need to deal with that. My camera case is large enough to be considered it's own carryon.:scared1:

We actually have to go buy a new piece of luggage now. We went to Atlanta for the weekend and Continental broke the zipper off the outside pocket of our suit bag....they are so careless.

I was doing my nightly check on airfare, and found an acceptable rate on Orbitz that was nearly $150 less than anywhere else! :cool1: I'm flying Swiss Intnl. Air, leaving the 15th and returning the 29th. And....I get to check 2 bags free!! And.......they serve alcohol....free!

I'm not sure why doing this was so hard to do....but now it's done. Need some ativan to calm the flight anxiety.....:scared:

How annoying! Did you get to miss all the snow?

Yes I did. Actually when I got home, it looked like my area didn't get all that much, not even enough to have shovel the driveway....my friend who lives south got 29 inches.

Too funny... We're 20 min south of Mindy and got 8 inches... We have family 35 min away into PA and they got over 20.. Totally weird......

Hi - How did people fare in the snow this storm. We had about a foot and two snow days. I should have been planning and on the boards since I didn't leave the house but instead caught up on laundry. Can't seem to ge DH to discuss what he would like to do in each port. It is his first visit to Italy so I want him to really research what he would like to see. Hopefully I can get him to concentrate on it soon.
