August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

I've also got way more than 10lbs to lose. So far, I've lost 40 from my highest weight ever and I'd like to lose 50 more, but I'll take 10 more by cruise time!!!!! I have to admit that I'm no longer watching what I eat and have to start again. I don't feel self-conscious running, personally I don't care! I know why I'm doing it, trying to get healthier and I'll do it in my own time!!!! I usually am out around 6:30, so not too many out at that time.

I'm probably where you started, so I'm behind that 40 lbs....but again, I don't have an iphone to tell me when to switch things up....and it's been too hot to run outside when I get home. I get up at 630 as it is and barely get me and the kids out the door on time. My Dh leaves the house at 6:30

DH leaves at 7:15, he gets the kids up for camp on running days, which tomorrow is. That's why I'm out the door at 6:30, his alarm wakes me up anyway......

I know how this feels, I have only got one child to organise, sometimes it seems impossible doesn't it!!! Try setting your phone to ring, or have the children got an ipod/mp2 player you can borrow? It may help, although I understand the weather thing, it has been hot here too recently. Warm again today, although there is a slight breeze that helps cool things today.

I have started to get to the planning stage now, in a bit more detail, but it is impossible to get OH to make any commitments. We won't do any DCL trips, just too expensive.;)

However, looking at the ports of call last night, :surfweb: still have no idea what we are doing anywhere, Tunis and Malta are the important ones for us, as not been there before. Definately going to the Blue grotto in Malta, hopefully first thing in the morning by cab then lunch there and back to town for a wander.

I didn't realise the ship sails so late from Rome and Naples, how brilliant, gives plenty of time to get back, when we have cruised previously the ships always leave by 5.30pm. We are going to catch the train to Rome, it was so easy last time we did it. and we had a pushchair (stroller) with us! Not sure whether to do Florence of Pisa, Pisa is easy on the train, not much there except the tower!!! Think my daughter will like it though, more so than Florence, which is a place I absolutely love. I think how much we go out and about will depend on the weather. Particularly in Naples. We went up Vesuvius once and is was brilliant, but if it is really hot, I can see that being a real problem! Suppose a lot of it will be planned on the day!

Have we arranged to meet up anywhere on the first day or sea day yet?

Hi everyone.... I have climbed out from under my rock. I am on vacation this week and finally unwinding from work.

I will be working on the Journal some this week too... I want to let everyone know you do not have to "create the page" just gather the information.... I will try and copy Mary (pixie08) style from the page she did.... WOW!!!!!

http://docs.google.com/fileview?id=...DUtMGEzYy00MmE5LWEyMjctZWE0ZmRjNWY0MjUz&hl=en

This is what I have for the kids journal sign up:
Mindelmouse – Tunis
Cliffside - Malta
MinnieDiva – Rome
Susiemmfan – Naples
Crzy4dals – Corsica
Goofy559 - LaSpeiza
Pixie08 - Villefrance

We also have 2 sea days and a pre-trip option for Barcelona. If any one is interested let me know... or I will put something together.

If you have your pages or info ready you can email it to me... erink71@gmail.com

I need to finalize our port tours... May try some on our own tours - seems that several people have been really successful..

Anxiously awaiting room assignements :thumbsup2

Personally, I would not do Florence- bc we are in La Spezia it's about 2.5 hours drive and about that long on the train as well. Pisa is fine but if you are planning on being in Tuscany again I might just skip it until then. It's a bit complicated on the train, appearantly. We are doing Cinque Terre and are quite excited! Our plane is to take the train to the farthest town, hike around, and keep taking the train towards the ship stopping for lunch during the day. We have a 6 month old so she will be carried by us.

We are also doing the train in Rome as well. I think we are going to buy vatican tickets for 2:30 and try to make the 530 train. We have early seating but are not TOO concerned with being back on time. Topsiders can do for one day :) We are doing the ancient stuff in the morning with the baby while it's less hot. Hopefully it works out! Traveling with a little one is exciting, huh? :)

Kate I am arranging a casual/informal sort of meet for the first sea day. Looks like it is going to be around noonish. I know there is a wine tasting and maybe a food demonstration thingy around 1:00pm and some may interested in going to that, we can all head off to together. I will finalize the plans in a week or two. If you have any other suggestions just chime in!

Mary - can I ask that it be 12:15 or 12:30 - I have brunch at Palo at 11 and then I have my couples choice at 2:30

Yes of course! I was actually thinking closer to 12:30 anyway. I figure it will be an open sort of thing from 12:15-1:00pm.

So I didn't get to do day 3 of week 1 because DD came home from camp sick and we had to run to the doctor. She woke up this morning and said her neck hurt and I took her temp and it was 102 but she told me she had been sleeping on that ear. I gave her motrin and meant to retake her temp 5 minutes later and got distracted and when it was time to go to camp I sent her because she said she was fine. When she came home and had fever and the stiff neck, DH called the doctor (he was concerned about meningitus). Doctor was too so he made us come in. I saw our cruise possibly go bye bye and I didn't want my child to be sick. Thank goodness the doctor doesn't think the neck ache is the meningitus type but he doesn't know what is wrong with her, so she needs to stay home tomorrow and I have to stay here with her. So perhaps tomorrow morning I can get my "3rd" day in...I was actually thinking of doing 2 weeks of week 1 anyway.....what an evening.

I think you are right about Florence, we have been there several times now and I love it, but we have always take the bus from the ship on the various cruiselines and then 'DIY'. Never risked the train to Florence, looks too compliated.

The train to Pisa is an easy one. I suppose you just change things to suit as they get older. We had some great times travelling with our dd when she was little and it gets better, but different as they get older.

DD was watching a TV programme about volcanos yesterday and when I mentioned we could go up one on holiday, that was it, sold!!! - so I am hoping the weather isn't horrendously hot in Naples. She has been up it before, but can't remember it, as she must have been around 3 at the time!

Did my Week 2 Day 2 today at 6.30 when the rest of the house was sleeping. It was OK, I wasn't so tired as last time and a couple of the first runs I actually was coasting!!! Not so on the last one! :rotfl:

I love the look of the journal page, do say I can have a copy!!!

Mindy, so sorry to hear about your daughter. We have had a lot of Meningitis in the UK, my nephew had it when he was a baby, although didn't have any major ill effects. Fingers crossed she has just a bit of a stiff neck or a virus. My dd has a stinking cold, although not too bad in herself, I dosed her up yesterday and sent her off to school and was expecting to get a phone call all day - but I did feel guilty :guilty: She is a bit better today, I hope your dd is better soon too. Sounds like you are going to need this holiday (next month!!!).

Great about the meet, I missed part of the last one I was in, because it was so late on the first evening and organising unpacking, over excited child (also over excited OH!) etc., I didn't meet half the group. This time is much more manageable, I think we may like to do the wine tasting too, we had a wine package last time and it was disappointing, but maybe if we can taste some beforehand, we might have better luck. Although we are going to bring some of our own on board too, which seems really weird to me, but when in Rome....... DD is already familiar with the club, so we won't have that worry this time either and need to keep checking back!

OK, back to work for a bit, don't want to stop the wheels of industry turning in the UK. Rainy here today, but still warm.

Have a great day everyone.

Kate

Ok Day 3 done...it's getting harder not easier...don't get it.

Day 3 was the worst for me too!!! I was dreading going into the Week 2, and it took a lot of motivation, but then it wasn't as bad as I thought. Maybe it is something to do with your body adjusting. Today I actually enjoyed some of it  Weird or what!!!

Keep at it, I just keep thinking that if Lori can get out there and do this, after what she has been through, then I should too!

I thought the same thing, that's why I repeated day 3 again before moving onto to week 2. So far week 2 is going o.k. a bit harder, but I'm surviving, tomorrow is day 3, we'll see if I feel ready to move on to week 3 tomorrow! Sorry your DD is sick, hopefully it's just a virus that is going around. DS came down with swimmers ear yesterday, so I rushed him to urgent care last night to get the drops(peds had closed). I got the prescription and the 24 hour pharmacy by us (it was almost 10 by this time) was all out!!!! So, I bought those pain relieving ear drops, gave him those and mortin and off he went this morning. I was more than wiling for him to stay home, but he was adamant about not missing archery today! Off to try another pharmacy in a bit.......

Gosh these kids are probably all burned out and need a holiday - can't think where you might take them!!!

Just seen the posting about the Queen, I hadn't missed her!!! She is remarkable for her age.

Happy Canada day too!

Kate

48 days:banana:

Hopefully those of us waiting will be getting our room assignments soon!

To those with GTY's run don't walk to the DCL website and check your room assignments!!! I have mine and I'm so EXCITED!!! I got 8088, one of my favorite locations, AFT and with a CLEAR veranda!!!! I'm so happy right now!!! So no upgrade to a cat 3, but that was far fetched anyway!!! I started dancing right here in my house! I also think I have the honor of being right down the hall from Mindy!!!!!
