August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

you need nicer clothes for dinner in the dining room, since Disney requests no shorts, but many on the Caribbean cruise ignored that...my thought is that Europeans tend to be more formal at meals, so it may be dressier. There's at least one formal night, one semi formal night, other theme nights. We need shorts and bathing suits. Clothes for Palo, shoes, toiletries....It's not really that I had too much stuff...i was afraid to over pack my suitcases so I was overly cautious, since I booked my flights before the suitcase surcharge and I was able to bring two bags per person for free

DH is going to be so frustrated (he's a minimalist)! Hee, hee....this way I can justify more stuff! And justify the need to shop more! :cool1: I wear scrubs all day at work, so I lack dressy stuff!!! We're planning to get new luggage in the next year or so, and are going to look at good lightweight stuff.

about the fuel charge surcharge that we all have in our reservations but Disney is not charging on new bookings any more...we have our TA fighting with them. The thread went up yesterday and there are already 9 pages of messages. Some people got Disney to just remove them, others Disney is fighting and saying perhaps they get on OBC. Many are cancelling and rebooking without the charge. However, I can't, since I booked the last cat 3cabin on this ship and apparently for this cruise they have sold out of all cat 1-4 cabins.
Anyone else been able to get a refund on the fuel surcharges
I've just e mailed my TA
will let you know how I get on
as I rebooked on board and got that discount plus onboard credit
it would cost more now to rebook

as for packing
try and pack light mix and match outfits as much as possible
I always pack an empty bag too when we go to the states

weather should be warm in the Med
sorry for not been on this thread too often

HA I love it! I'm making my DF read these posts to explain why we need to get some more luggage and why I should be able to start shopping now for the trip!

Also I was wondering if anyone had done the Med. cruise before and could elaborate more on the excursions? I'm just curious what kinds of things Disney puts together. Thanks!

:santa:

TA has just got back to me
She has been able to get the fuel price taken off our booking
saving $220
but have been adviced it could go on again

so it does no harm in asking

More money to spend on board

how many drinks of the day will that get? :rotfl2:

2 or 3? (ha, ha) I'd just go buy a few bottles of Italian wine and an opener and bring it back on board....

We got our fuel charge back to, but my understanding is that once it's gone, it's gone for good.

I hope you are right
whats everyone up to this weekend ?

not much here
DS wants to go out to the cinema
maybe tomorrow

I got an email yesterday from Dreams Unlimited, and it can get re-posted if fuel costs rise again. The fuel charge will be credited if still on your reservation if during the previous fiscal quarter the price of fuel remains below $70.

Count us in on this cruise. There will be four of us at the time of sailin Me 43 DH 44 DD12 and DD10. It will be easier this cruise since both my DD's will be in Ocean Quest.

Anyone have any information on Malta and Tunisia? I can't get much information from cruisecritic

Welcome to the board and we're happy to know someone else on this cruise. I'm keeping track of the members on post 35 - We're up to 9 families. I'm sure there's a lot more, since I've heard all cat cabins are sold out through cat 4.

Welcome aboard
I haven't really done any looking into the ports yet

Thanks Kim for the links.

Have a great weekend everyone and I hope everyone is getting ready for Santa:santa:

I must have a weird sense of humor because when I read the City of Valletta's tag line "A city built by Gentleman for Gentleman" images of a vast red light district filled with "Gentleman's" clubs popped into my head. I'm sure that isn't what they meant however!:rolleyes1

Probably covered in the Northern Cruise? :rolleyes1

Hi Everyone,

dreams unlimited is offering an on board credit of either $500 or $250 for our cruise. last week i transferred my reservation over to them. it was an onboard booking so i had the 10% discount and $200 on board credit. all that came over and i got the additional $250 from DU. something to think about. just have to transfer before the end of the year.

Question: i kept my insurance with disney but DU is offering insurance for $40 less. for those who have their cruise booked with DU, do you take their insurance?

thanks, ellen

but I booked my with small world vacations...they gave a $600 OBC for my cabin and I got the $200 from Disney...they only thing I didn't get was the discount because I have a cat 3 and they won't discount those. I do plan on getting insurance for this one although I didn't get it for my last cruise. Be careful on what it covers, there are a lot of different travel insurances out there. I'm sure bigbootee (my DH) will weigh in on this at some point...he works for an insurance co.
