August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

This morning while doing my usual search, for cat 4 to go out of GTY. I was able to see a cat 12 for 4 people on the Aug 28th sailing for under 4k!!!!!! Looks like our sailing is kind of popular, as I've NEVER seen cat 12 for our sailing..... For 8k, if they did offer it, I'd give up my cat 4 and my 400 OBC from DCL...... I don't need a balcony that much.....

I think we'll see more when balances need to be paid off next month. I do think our dates our better, since most kids that haven't gone back to school will go back during the 8/28 sailing...so who knows...my DH said that until this week there were no cabins from cat 1 through 4 available.

We are looking forward to this cruise. This will be our 5th cruise. Can't believe the date is fast approaching. It seems just like yesterday that we booked (November 2008).

Just found this discussion board and it is perfect for us. We are enjoying planning our excursions and would welcome input from others who are also doing so. We have booked a private tour for Naples and also for Rome, and would be interested in reducing costs by finding another family to join us. We are two adults, and also a son (10) and a daughter (13). This will be our first cruise on Disney and our second overall.

Hi and welcome to the board...it's been a long time since we had new members and a lot of the old ones disappeared, so I'm not sure if they are still going. We know this cruise must have sold well because they're not discounting it, but no one has really been here. I booked this cruise in November 2008 too....send me your family info...who's going and where from and I'll add it to my list on page 3 of this thread.

Hi Soxfan....even though I'm a Yankees fan you are very welcome here.....I have a DS and DD both that will be 9 on the cruise. Some of us have booked a private tour of Rome, which I think we're at maximum capacity on (kim can confirm or deny) and we also have a private tour of Florence and Pisa, which I think we may have room on. Lori ( the organizer) is in DW right now, so when she returns, she can let you know. I'll add you to our manifest on page 3. Welcome aboard!!!:cool1:

Not sure, but I think Rome's tour might be reaching near-max capacity. Perhaps the two of you could join forces???!!!

My DD is the youngest of the group...Will be 7...

No kidding....it's so hard to believe that so much time has passed since booking!

How many is your group comprised of?

My DM is going along with my DD (13 at time of sailing) and DS (11 at time of sailing). We are from a suburb of Chicago. I just discovered this site yesterday.

There was someone else from Rockford on the board (they're on my page 3 manifest) but we haven't heard from them in a long while, so I don't know if they're still going.

Well everyone we're back from WDW!!!! Staying at BLT was the BEST!!!!! My feet will never be the same, though I look at it as good practice for Rome. Glad to see the newbies who have joined our group.

To those interested, we have 10 confirmed for Pisa/Florence and do have room for 6 more. We plan on climbing the tower (you must be 8 to do so) and then heading to Florence. If you are interested in joining us, please PM me of post to this thread your email and I'll forward the information.

Welcome back Lori, we missed you....I would think the BLT would be beautiful...all new and stuff...glad you had fun.....let the full speed ahead cruise planning begin.

Yes, we would be interested. I could not post email address since I have less than 10 posts.

Hello, what are your plans for Naples and Rome? We may be interested in joining you.

Thanks.

It is great to see people are interested in planning excursions... we have made plans only for these two ports since for these two ports we know we want a private tour, and we read somewhere that the best tour guides get booked early. We might see some of the other ports on our own (Valetta?) or go on ship's tours (Tunis).

We are planning to use seesorrento.com (Marcello) for Naples. We have seen many wonderful reviews about him. :surfweb: He will take us to see the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii (he will arrange for a guide at Pompeii).

For Rome, we are planning to use miles & miles (Francesco). Again, he and his company have lots of good reviews. He will take us to the Vatican and various attractions in Rome (he will arrange for a guide for the Vatican).

Both guides will be using a van for either 6 or 8 passengers. Since there are four of us, we are interested in finding another family, perhaps with two kids.

As for myself, this site is brand new. I still have to read through all of the great posts in this thread. I spent too much time looking at other discussion boards, and did not know that this would be as active as it is. We booked in January 2010 (late compared to most!) I am very happy to see there will apparently be a good number of kids on the ship around the same age as our DD and DS (13 and 10). For some reason (perhaps because of things I read on another discussion board) I had this image of most of the kids being younger. That does not seem to be the case, and that is one of the things we are looking forward to (a range of ages among the passengers).

I see you have a new ticker for next year???? Glad you had a good time! I've been in CA visiting my dad....had great weather the first 2 days and it's been like home since...cloudy and rainy. Sigh.. Heading home tomorrow.

Yes Kim, I do have a new ticker for next year. We decided to do a land/sea for next spring break! We're doing a 4 night on the dream with 3 nights at AKV after. I don't think we'll go to the parks, just maybe Discovery Cove for a day and just relax at the pool the rest of the time.

Ok Gang - I"m trying to finalize my itinerary because on 4/20 I get to book everything. Based on the dinner schedule that Kim provided and the busyness (sp?) of our days, I'm thinking Malta or Tunis night for our Palo dinner. They just seem to be more relaxed ports of call and ones where we won't feel like we have to rush back for dinner. Let me know your choice.

Right now I have Lori, Kim, Cliffside (why don't I know your first name??) and us. Any other takers? I think, from something I read on the board, we can get a private room if we have a certain amount of people. I don't know what that amount is. I may need to get your confirmation cruise number to book the dinner for you, but I'll have DH call ahead and find out, so all our bookings can be done.

Happy Easter, Happy Passover and Happy whatever other holiday may fall today. 4 1/2 month...YIPPEEEEE!!!!!!!:dance3:
