August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

We will have 1 large suitcase, 3 carry-ons and 3 backpacks/duffle bags.

We are now scheduled to take the tour before getting on the ship. We visit the sites before hitting the terminal. We should get there before 12:30. Typically I am the type to get at the terminal early, usually around 11, but since we don't leave until later, that should work out fine.

Sooooooo..........how was camp? Did he love it?

Shawn

Thanks for asking Shawn. I think he did mostly. Um...he said he got homesick 2 nights and that on one night the camp director's husband had to come calm him down because his counselor couldn't. He was very proud to tell me that the man said that feeling homesick was normal and it was okay. He got to go kayaking, build rockets (which I think he liked the most), do science stuff, he said they had a beach party and all kinds of things. I think he had fun, but he's at the age when he doesn't impart a lot of info unless pushed.

He was real cool when I picked him up but when we got home mommy got a huge hug....

4 suitcases down and 2 to go!!! We all also have a small carryon each as well for plane entertainment stuff.

I think I'm gonna have the same amount of luggage, so either you and I are excessive or the others didn't bring enough....either way who cares, since I can have 2 bags each for free.....

Finally finished all the FE's and one laundry. Tomorrow is finish laundry, mani/pedi....party at a friends at 4 (yes Lori, I will be driving through your neighborhood again, but this time you'll be at the airport), bake awful oreo cupcakes for said party and hopefully have the kids mostly packed. Sunday I'll pack me.

Hi everybody,
Unbelievably I am not very internet savvy and just found this kind of site while trying desperately to get a handle on the ports we are going to and how best to plan for them without having to book all tours from the ship. Do families from these sites, plan to meet and book things together for the ports? We are from Toronto Canada and my husband and I are travelling with our 13 year old and 4 year old. This will be our 4th Disney cruise (we've cruised on many other lines as well but love Disney) We were in Disney World in February for the launch of Disney Give a Day Get a Disney Day which was incredible(my daughter fundraises for the Heart and Stroke Foundation - you can check out her site by googling the words Amanda Lemonade or just look for lemonade4heart.org) and now Mickey is coming with us to Europe but somehow I am very ill prepared for this trip and would love tips on planning and how best to manage this cruise. We would love to meet other families and although I found this site quite late - seems like people have posted for a couple of years, I hope we are not too late to 'join the party'. I hope someone can get back to me to further explain how this all works - these little smilies to the right are sooo cute (told you I was new):tink::dumbo:

What are magets that were mentioned. I tried to send a message directly to the person but since I am totally new to this there are restrictions so if someone could fill me in that would be great:eeyore:

Family and I are so excited to be going on this great Disney Cruise to the Med. I just read about Port Journals that have been created and how possibly can we get a couple for my kids - that would be the greatest. Please let me know
thank you so much. This will make 3 posts so if I keep reading everyone's posts and continue to have questions, then I will be able to reach my 10 posts and then contact the person directly - please be patient with this newbie
Thanks

Many of the Disney tours have age limits that are high - we have a 13 year old and 4 year old. Are people booking from other tour sites for places like Pisa.
Help - so disorganized this trip which is so not like me so could use all the tips even though everybody is busy getting ready - any help will be so greatly appreciated
How does everyone meet when we get there?
6 more posts until I'm official

Hi Fizzeo,

Welcome. :yay: Your daughter's site is incredible. Really inspiring. I think the lady who did the journals may have already left home, but I could be wrong. As for magnets if you go to the main dis site and choose the option that says something along the lines of 'creative disers' someone there will probably be able to help, someone made me a lovely one for my daughter's 3rd birthday. We're a little boring I'm afraid and will just be staying near the port, for us it's the excitement of Disney being so near to us that's sending us on the cruise - though obviously it will be nice to wander in places too. We'll go back at a later stage and see all the points of interest when DD is a little older. I know others have booked some of their own trips though, so I'm sure someone will be along soon to answer.

Of course I find stuff like this late but better late than never - maybe she will have extra journals with her - one can only wish. What do people do with the magnets, if I can find them? Did your daughter just turn 3? Hope we can figure out how to meet everyone -what a great idea
Thanks again (Post 4 or 5 - already lost count but I guess I'll know when I hit 10!!)

You guys all sound great - can't wait to meet you all - any other Canadians in the group. Can't believe we haven't booked any Disney tours yet and haven't figured out how to see the sites on our own - floundering this trip which is not like me but c'est la vie - hopefully people here will be able to help

Welcome. To be honest I am quite new as well but the people on the site are great. A good bit of the folks have already left or are getting ready to, I will try to any questions you might have. Great to have you on board, see you on Wednesday.

We only booked two tours and those are at the begining of the trip. We are planning on doing Naples and Rome on our own and from there we are winging it. This is mostly due to the fact that we want to be able to relax and not stress.

I know the trip is in a few days but is anyone still interested in sharing car for private tour in Rome or going to Florence/Pisa or Pompeii etc. Let me know - we are family of 4 (13 and 4 year olds)

We are going to take the train at all the locations so we can go and do what we want. :)

Awwww.....how sweet:hug: Cherish those moments as you know the hugs and the info will get less and less :sad2:

Glad all went well and now they will be getting the surprise of a lifetime in a few days, I know you must be soooo excited for them:cool1:

Welcome Fizzeoparty:

We are having a "Dis meet" on the first At Sea Day at 12:15 in the Promenade Lounge where many of us are meeting face to face.
You & family are welcome to come!

Look for user name "Pixie08" on this thread and click on the website in her signature. That is the website she made for us and has further info about the cruisers, ports, etc. ALOT of info there! There are several Canadians in our group. PirateLuv, Goofy559 and I think 3 girlycruisers are all Canadians, maybe more.

Most of the people here have already hooked up with others for their private tours and are filled but you may still be able to hook up with someone. I believe ADSmama was looking at one time.

Erin did the journals for us and maybe will have extras? I'm sorry you are just finding us so late in the game but do not worry you will have just as good a time unplanned as the rest of us;)

The cabin doors on the Magic are magnetic and many decorate their door with custom made magnets printed on magnetic paper. No tape or other adhesive is allowed to be used on the door.

Let us know what other questions you have. We have a few who have already left the States for Europe and in the next few days there will be more.
I'll be checking in here through Sunday night

Shawn

AND what do you do with them when you get there. How do I find it - I was lucky enough to stumble on this site/thread as it was
Hoping I am almost at 10 posts so I can send private too - will work on packing tomorrow:yay:

This is a great attitude...as I get closer to leaving on Monday, I am feeling more and more like this. I planned to book the HOHO bus in Barcelona before leaving but now am thinking we can just see how it goes and what we feel like doing when we get there, maybe the Fat Bike tour, maybe just walking Las Ramblas or maybe we will just see a brochure in our hotel for something we don't already know about. I can get caught up in doing too much research beforehand and sticking strictly to a plan. My family does not like this:rotfl:
