August 16th, 2014 - FANTASY Western Caribbean

We booked the week the dates came out! We were on the Hurricane Sandy cruise, and we are glad to be back on a Disney Cruise! This time we're bringing 15 others with us! Some first timers too.

Hi there! How great you have such a large group going.

I was just reading a trip report written by someone who was on the Sandy cruise. Sounds like it was an adventure.

:welcome: Welcome! That is a big group!

Was the Hurricane Sandy cruise your first cruise? I read all of the threads on that - it must have been something!

Still trying decide if we are going to WDW before or after this cruise.

We are going to WDW for a week this August...I'm hoping there is going to be a bounceback offer that will help us make the decision.

I just made all our dining reservations for our upcoming August trip and I was really excited to be able to get a dinner reservation at the Be Our Guest restaurant for one of the nights.

So cold here in NY today. Cannot wait to be in Florida sunshine.

Hello, we haven't officially booked yet, but are excited to do this cruise! DH and I have never cruised together and we are bringing our 3 kids (Morgan - 14, Nathan & Camden - Twin 5 year olds) and my young sister Aurora who will be 12 when we cruise. So it looks like Morgan is the oldest so far :) We are all very excited, the boys love Mickey. We had debated doing a pre cruise disney but opted for the longer cruise.

This should be fun!!!

We decided after our last trip that we would never again do Walt Disney World AFTER a cruise, if we help it. The service (and the food) on the ship is so good, that we felt WDW was a let-down. Usually we are very happy with these aspects of the vacation, but after the cruise, the "shine" was off of the resorts.

We can't get as much time off before this cruise, so we are skipping WDW just about entirely. We are going to stay at the Residence Inn near Sea World for a couple of days and do Sea World and Aquatica before the cruise. Post-cruise, we are planning on going to Blizzard Beach and spending one night at either the Polynesian or Animal Kingdom Lodge before flying home.

:welcome: Let us know when you are booked, and I will add you to the roll call! You will have quite a crew sailing with you.

We've always done WDW before the cruise, usually just a day or two, visiting one park only. The problem with that though is I get so depressed after the cruise is over. It's not just the cruise is over, but the whole entire vacation is over. It's a double whammy, you know what I mean?

On the other hand, could I go from relaxing DCL to frenetic WDW? I'm not sure.

That's why we are booking one night at a Deluxe Resort and a day at Blizzard Beach (our favourite) after the ship, flying home the next morning. We've only ever stayed at the All-Stars, so a deluxe resort is a big deal to us.

I'm sure you will :lovestruc whatever you decide though

We have never been to either water park, but we have a one day ticket to visit one this summer. Have you been to both? I haven't been able to decide yet which would be better for our kids. They are NOT daredevils, so we need slides, etc, that would not freak them out.

P.S. - DD's favorite ride is the Haunted Mansion. She would love your avatar and screen name!

We are doing WDW before the cruise. Coming from the UK we def want to WDW but can't face it after we have been relaxing for a week on the cruise!! I am so excited. Already!! And I have anger Disney Cruise to go first this Summer :0) so lucky x btw I love all the water parks. We do as many as we can. From what I remember ( I'm going back about 4 years when my eldest was only 4) typhoon lagoon was the more family friendly one but I could be completely mistaken a about that. We didnt rate Aquatica all that much although we loved the wave currents in the river ( we floated my 6 month old in a life vest and he absolutely LOVED it!!)

We also transferred a dummy booking. So far we are 4 cabins. I decided to go a little over the top this time and book category 4e. We have been on the Wonder once and the Magic and Dream twice. We are 8 adults and 5 kids (15,15,13,12,7).

Us - Vicki, joe, John 15, Joseph 13
Daniela, Emilio, Peter 15, Cathryn 12
Paul, Michele, tianna Marie 7
Mercedes, Eddie

We loved that river at Aquatica too! My kids couldn't get enough of it.

:welcome: I will add you to roll call when I am at my computer instead of my phone!

I would say that Typhoon Lagoon is a bit less heavy on the thrill rides, and has the HUGE wave pool, but we love Blizzard Beach better. The family raft ride is amazing, the lazy river is more fun, and we like the kids areas a bit better - the theming is what puts it over the top for us.

We are not expecting Aquatica to be anything spectacular, but it is very inexpensive to add to our Sea World package, and we love, love, love water parks of any stripe. :lovestruc

We just booked this cruise this morning! Just me (Bekki - 40) and my youngest DD (Marina - 16) will be enjoying some mother daughter bonding time. This will be my 4th cruise and her 3rd.

Since we're leaving dad and big sister at home, we decided to economize and go with a 10A cabin. We've booked veranda cabins on past cruises, and have connecting 8Ds for this summer's Eastern cruise for the whole family, so we're a bit apprehensive about downsizing to a smaller cabin. We're both much more outgoing and adventurous than the rest of our family, so I think we will be fine. It'll give us more reason to get out there and enjoy all the ship have to offer. We're also looking forward to visiting new places.

:welcome: So glad you've decided to join us!

What other cruises have you done? We've only been on a four-night Dream cruise, so the prospect of a 7-night is really exciting for us. My 2-year old asks daily about when we can go on "Mickey's big boat" again.

Hello!

Cat. 10A is usually the cabin my MIL books when she cruises. She has always been happy with it.

We've done a 3-day on the Wonder a while back, and DH and I did the 7day Alaska cruise out of Vancouver in 2011. Since we're on the west coast, flying in for a shorter cruise isn't really worth the expense unless we combine it with something else.

I loved having the at-sea days, it was so relaxing. The weather was pretty bad for the Alaskan cruise, so finding space up on deck was easy. We ended up spending at least an hour in the Rainforest Room each day, it was welcome to ward off the chilly rain. We have an Eastern planned for all four of us this summer to celebrate my eldest DD's high school graduation.
