August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 4

Thank you Jen..!! She just called and said it went ok...She can't really lift anything more than 20lbs.. for the next three days but other than that she is feeling ok!! She can't swim either for a few days, but my mom doesn't swim anyways so that is not a BIG deal for her!!

I'm so glad to hear it went alright! I'll be sending her good thoughts to enjoy the trip and not stress about next week's results and get good results. :wizard:

Are your parents also leaving with you tomorrow? I guess she'll just have to have everyone else carry her bags for her! :rolleyes1

Safe travels!

Kind of quiet around here today. You can feel how many people have left and are already enjoying the start of their vacations!

We just finished the majority of our packing. It is going to be time to run to Target and then they will be done until Sunday night when we need to throw a few last minute things in the bags.

This afternoon is going to be quiet around here. Ben is sneezing. DH and I both woke up with headaches. I think we have allergy issues right now and so a nice quiet afternoon / evening will be good.

Glad that the first part is done. Now we will say prayers for her until we hear from the doctors.

:cool1::cool1:

I'll be setting my alarm for tomorrow morning for ours. We leave for the airport at 4:30 on Saturday morning. Still can't figure out why in the world I booked a flight so early!

Good luck with your Mom today. Hope things go well.

You booked the early flight so that you could enjoy every moment possible in FL! I always try to get as early of a flight as possible on the way out and as late as possible on the way home.

Wow-- the Weather Channel actually has Castaway Cay as choice for weather forecasts!

http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/BFXX0018

Hmmm....not so sure I want to see that forecast! We will hope for very scattered and very little showers! :wizard:

Hey thst's good news! It is a better forecast than I saw a couple of days ago. :thumbsup2

That is good! I hate the thought of rain but with scattered showers....we can be hopeful it is not during the time we are there and that we see nothing but sunny skies! :sunny:

Stuck at work one last day :surfweb:

Ran out at lunch to do a couple of things like mail all of Tim's summer assignments in to his teachers. It was all due towards the end of the month, but obviously we had to get it in early. Don't think I heard enough complaining about that over the last few weeks!!! :rotfl: Gotta love our teenagers!!

I think it is so sad when kids have summer assignments (and I am a teacher). :confused3 My DD takes all honors and AP classes and I would just not be be happy if she had summer work - they work so hard during the school year that I feel like they need the summer off. Good for Tim to get all of his done and mailed off! :thumbsup2

One more day for me. Friday @ 5 I am doin' the Yabba Dabba Do! :thumbsup2

:woohoo: Almost done! :woohoo:

Mario and I are working a full day on Friday as well. All the errands are done (I hope) so tonight and tomorrow night we finish off the packing!

I think we finished all our errands just now (kind of with you on the "I hope" deal). I am thinking of reading a little and taking a nap before making dinner.

It is just so close now that I feel like the clock is actually slowing down. :rotfl:

Jordan (11) has a bunch of summer homework too! 3 novels - with critical essays about them, a movie review, a concert review, a social studies project (travel brochure for a historical site), a science research essay and 10 pages of math!:scared1:
She's only going into 6th grade!!!

like Jen said, i'm a teacher too and i think this is BEYOND excessive.
Glad Tim got his done. Hopefully we won't be trying to cram everything in on Sept 5th

Bethany (10yo...5th grade) has a "summer packet" to complete (not difficult stuff) that we just found in her backpack last week when we were cleaning it out for the trip. I told her she will be working on that during the train ride!

You wouldn't expect Ben to have anything since he is only starting kindergarten this year, but they gave us a challenge to read five books and have him draw a picture about each one.

Both need to be handed in on the first day of school!

My exam and the grading are finished! Just have to submit the grades online tomorrow, and it will be done! Hooray! That's a big weight off--now I can get down to the serious work of last-minute planning and packing!

Somehow I had calculated that we would need 8 days of clothes... but really it's 10-- oops!

Did online check-in-- Yay! All set with our 1 free JetBlue bag per person.

Ok-- I'm off to run those last-minute errands that all of you have been doing this week (Bonine, sunscreen, toothpaste...) I am jealous of everyone already on vacation... but I need this last 24 hrs to finish getting ready!!

:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

Why is it that when people hear I'm headed for a 10-day vacation some little "to do" tasks seem to pop up? I've been running around all day dealing with bulletin boards at my church, spirit wear designs for the elementary school, and some fall sports sign up issues. AAUUGGHH. Get me on that ship!

Safe travels to everyone who is leaving soon! Kristin, I'm glad your mom got through her procedure and hope the results turn out okay.

I did get some packing done today, so now only my errant husband is left to fill his duffle bag. He gets back tomorrow and knowing him, he'll throw it all together in about 20 minutes. He will be asking me "where's this, where's that" all the while. Then after he goes out of the room, I'll go through his bag and add more stuff!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I work all day tomorrow too! And what fun it will be, no one else does my job while I'm gone, so people tend to freak out and crabby when I leave.

My kids don't get summer work, thank goodness! Matthew did take on online college course over the summer though, and now he starts school the day after we get back. Not much of a summer for him.

Just started position 2 weeks ago, working half day before flight, need all the time in before the Dream : (

Safe travels to everyone who has left or leaving soon. I can't believe in 5 days we will be on board the beautiful Dream. :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay: I can already taste my favorite drink the Bon Voyage. :drinking1

We are home from visiting with my mom the procedure went well. She said it was the doctors birthday today so she talked to him the entire time so that her feel better about the whole thing!!

Yea!! The auto train just left about 5 minutes ago and we are now officially on our way. Just a note to everyone who might be traveling on the autotrain make sure you are on time. They are not kidding about 3:30 being the cut off time. We watched at least 5 cars get turned away after we boarded. See everyone on Tuesday. :cool1:

Good to know. We have to be there by 2pm w/ our van (oversized vehicle).

thought I'd pop on for a minute - still packing -how is it never ending?? and the last minute errands, etc...can't believe how busy I"ve been, yet I'm still not ready to leave! at least we're driving, so we don't have to worry about being late for a flight..

Plus, our nephews are house/dog sitting, so I have to make sure things are tidy, and there are groceries for them. just one more thing to do! LOL

and Mark (who works for himself) had to go out to a client site, so he can't help either. :(

trying not to get too concerned about the weather - if we get any tropical storms, they just cruise around it, right? but we'll be fine??
