August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 4

I am totally panicked, and I will be until the darn plane is in the air!!!!!!!!!

for me....it's when the darn plane lands. I do not like flying, but, it's the easiest way to get there.

Hello everyone!!
I am getting ready to leave for camp and when I get back, most of you will already be there or atleast traveling! I won't be able to come back on and post until Saturday. By then I will probably be talking to myself! LOL
I want to wish you all a safe trip, and I look forward to meeting everyone!! For most of you, I will see you there, and for anyone still left here, I will chat with you Saturday in between laundry and packing!:laundy:
See you soon!!

I'll probably be checking in at some point on Saturday. We're staying at the Doubletree in Cocoa Beach and will have wi fi available.

I like it better when the wheels hit the tarmack at MCO (don't really like flying) :thumbsup2

I'm with you!

LOL - all our clothes are laid out but my DH does the packing. Does not like the way I do it so . . . . :woohoo:

Great - ours arrived safely:cool1:

Hey Candy - see you soon and have a great time at camp.

Only 4 more days!!! My DD 15 is not so crazy about going to Disney AGAIN :scared1:- well I am letting her have a bon fire tonight with some friends to hopefully have her relaxed on vacation. You know how it is with teenagers and their friends.

Have a great day all!

Janeanne

Wish my DH didn't like the way I packed. I hope DD is OK once she starts meeting other teenagers from all over. It's so different today than years ago. With facebook and email, it's so easy to stay friends with everyone.

Just got the word that my niece had to be casted. The good news is that she got a water proof cast and can go swimming. So she will be the one snorkeling with the lime green cast on vacation.:goodvibes

At least the cast will be cool looking!!!

A few comments live from the Dream....

if there are any follow up questions, probably easier to PM me b/c this thread moves so fast...

Lots of things have changed and some are the same.

Check-in...they are serious about the 11am...we could not get to drop off until about 10:55...however, you do not need to curb drop if you have a car...they have baggage people in the garage as you enter...

Boarding groups...throw away your old boarding group # 2 cards...they won't work...that said, if you are platinum, you can go to special check in w/concierge and will likely get group #1...and we boarded at 11:30 and went straight to Cabanas, which is a big improvment over Topsiders....

Do not throw away your hotel key from the night before boarding...you will need it to slide in the slot in place of your Key to the World card if you want electricity in your cabin....the hotel keys work fine...

Deck 11 (pool deck) food....it is all now conveniently located together...

Royal Palace is very similar to Lumiere's...and very good...

AP and Crush are tonight.

CC...we went out to second tram stop by Pelican Plunge...they have a duplicate of everything and much less crowded..

Oh, and THE DUCK....as good as advertised and worth the wait...

Overall, the ship has been very nice thus far...

Chuck:cool1:

Tip of the day (but you probably already know it):

If you have more than one cabin, you can get "blank" KTTW cards. Right now, DCL has me assigned to one cabin & DH to another, so we'll have different cards. Since it will most likely be a kids cabin & mom & dad, we'll have to get a card to let us into the "other" cabin.

Also, these "blank" cards could be good for keeping in the cabin electricity slot.

That doesn't sound too fun!?

Just looked at this morning's map of the tropics and it looks better than yesterday - only 2 tropical waves instead of the 4 that were showing yesterday - and they appear to be pretty weak.

Glad to hear that!!

I bet they will have FUN at the bon-fire tonight!!

Trying this weekend to get the last of everything done for our upcoming trip as we leave in 2 days. My sister's family is also cruising with us but don't leave until Sunday. Yesterday I get a call that my niece was doing a back bend and landed funny and fractured her wrist. They put her in a splint last night and she is going to the doctor roday to see if she needs a cast or can use the splint. I feel bad as she and my daughter have been practicing snorkeling in the pool and now we don't know if she will even be able to go in the water or not.:confused3

Ohh no, your poor niece!!

Just got the word that my niece had to be casted. The good news is that she got a water proof cast and can go swimming. So she will be the one snorkeling with the lime green cast on vacation.:goodvibes

I'm so glad she was able to get a waterproof cast.

So, I'm just curious ladies, how many pairs of shoes will you be bringing? :goodvibes Today, I realized it might be easier to start with the shoes I want to bring and then select the clothes to match rather than the other way around in order to minimize the # of shoes.

I think five but four of them are sandals. I have two pairs of Croc sandals (white and black) a pair of dressier black sandals, a pair of brown leather sandals, and my pink Mickey Crocs.

Can you tell I'm not that high maintenance? Three out of the five pairs I'm bringing are Crocs! ;)

Thanks for the update, Chuck.

Glad the cast is waterproof.

As for shoes, I have flip flops, black dinner sandals and white dinner sandals, sneakers and black heels (that's the plan right now, but I have yet to start to pack :lmao:)

In terms of shoes. I think I might have six packed....

Ok, another ladies question..What are you doing for your mani. & pedi's if your getting them a color or french?? Also, what do you recommend in terms of a mani. mine always does does not last a friend told me to do gel, with my own nails but I heard it was hard to take off when your ready for it to come off.....Thoughts??

This is good news for sure! Hopefully it will all go away and we will have nothing but sunshine!

We will miss you while you are gone but am totally excited to meet up with you guys next Monday!! Feel free to come on and post because we are not leaving until Monday morning.

My dd15 would go to Disney every week if I let her!!!!! She can never get enough! She is truly my child :rotfl2:.

I bet your DD and my DD will get along beautifully! Both 15 and both totally addicted to Disney! LOVE it!

I think I am bringing black dress shoes, tevas and possibly my pink Mickey Crocs. That is it. I am not a big shoe sort of gal.

:rotfl: We are so similar! I will really only have one pair of nice shoes with me...the rest will be sandals or crocs.

In terms of shoes. I think I might have six packed....

I am thinking a french mani/pedi. I am only doing the french because it doesn't really show when it grows out and still looks fresh the longest.

I imagine your gel is the same as what I have done. I can't take mine off myself....I have to pay to have it taken off. I really love it though because it does not really ever chip and if I do the french, I can keep it on for about 3 weeks.

At least it's waterproof! Well, I hope she feels better real soon!

We're packed, checked in for our flight and ready to go in the AM! Can't believe it's here already! <--- Thats how many sleeps we have now. As for shoes, I'm really simple, I have a pair of tennis shoes, a pair of flipflops that are dressy enough to pass for semi-formal night, and these little cuties....

they're my cruise shoes and I love them. The kids love them when I wear them to school and they're comfy because they're Birkenstocks.

Sarah and I had Pedis before we left, but today at discovery cove, I chipped one of the nails..so now we will have to find a spot in Kissimmee to get them redone :)

Chuck-- thanks for posting and glad you're having a good time. Say hi to Lisa and Mason for us.

I have been using the CND (Creative Nail Designs) gel the last few manicures because my nails were breaking and chipping so much. It has been great. Been lasting about 2 1/1 weeks. Downside is that it is hard to get off. Nails have to be soaked in 100% acetone for 10-15 minutes. I use color for my mani/pedi. Usually some shade of red or pink in the summer. Pedi is 3 PM this Friday.

I love my gel nails. I can usually go 3 weeks before a fill.

Those shoes are adorable!

As for the pedi - no brainer - dd and I will have red with white polka dots Yea Minnie Mouse!

dd even has DCL cruise color bands on her braces, red, black, and yellow

We each have 4 pairs, actually DS only has 3. I have walking shoes (Birks), dress sandals, casual sandals for dinners and flip flops.

Dh just says, maybe I'll bring the jacket, LOL. So, not sure now if he is wearing a jacket and tie, jacket and no tie, or just tie LOL.

I never do my fingernails, ever, not sure why, just don't. I just did my toes in red with rhinestone mickeys.
