August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 4

Hi all!! I was able to see the Dream in port this morning on the webcam, but I had to work and forgot to go on and watch it leave Oh well. Only one more day of work left until my vacation starts!! Yeah!!

this is not vacation related news, but it was exciting....For those of you that are not aware of what I do for a living, I am a Labor and Delivery nurse and I was working today and it was a nice quite day (very rare these days), suddenly there is an overhead page and gives the code that we use for an emergency delivery...we all look puzzled because, there is no one on the labor floor about to deliver, then they give the location of the code...main lobby entrance!! A lovely patient didn't make it to the floor, but delivered a very healthy baby boy in the backseat of her sister's car, her sister's brand new car! Two of my fellow nurses had been down at the gift shop for a candy run, we were a little bored and hungry, when this occured and were able to assist the patient with the delivery!! It was so great!! These are the days I LOVE what I do!!

Back to vacation talk

Last week my washing machine broke down, ok...repairman can come Saturday. I think if they fix the machine Saturday I still have 4 days to wash the laundry that a family of 5 has created over the previous 5 days, I will be fine. Well, the washing machine has died for real! It didn't even get sick first, just dropped dead! Now I am panicing, I have clothes I need for the trip in that abundance of laundry, things I really need. So all I can think is how can I buy, have delivered and installed a new washing machine and do ALL the laundry before we leave on Thursday, and work today and Tuesday??? But DH took almost all the laundry to his mother's house today and washed and folded it!! LOVE HIM!! I can now relax, and I think I will wait to make that major purchase when we get home. After the cruise we are staying in a 1 bedroom at Bay Lake Towers, so we have a washer/dryer there. I will make sure I was everything before we come home.

So tomorrow is the official packing day, also the mani/pedi day for my daughter and I, and the make sure I have everyone's medicines and stuff day.

Ohh, my gosh that is AMAZING!! What an evening!! Glad that the baby was born and was ok!!

That was soo nice of your husband to do the laundry!! I always make sure everything is washed before we come home. That is one of the BEST parts of staying at DVC!!

Looks like the 8/2 cruisers did make it to CC yesterday - although from their initial reports it seems to have been kind of nasty weather wise.

Can you point me in the direction of a few informative threads TRs from the 8/2 cruise? I'm not having luck finding any. TIA!

Apparently, they left at 3 PM, I didn't ask about the weather, just whether they went to CC or not.

I read last night that one person said the wind was awful that the T.V. in their stateroom said the bridge was reporting 45 mph, and when they went to leave CC it was up to 50!!

good morning all!! ahhh! getting a bit freaked now - it's that time before when I have so much to do before vacation and start panicking it won't all get done! I'm sure none of you have had that feeling!!

the family is starting to think about doing parasailing on CC one of the days - do you think we can just wait and book it onboard?

also, for those of you bringing alcohol onboard - are you bringing some type of cup, or just using what's in your room?

Morning Everyone! I am going to have to really focus today - there is so much to do between getting the house ready to leave, getting the family ready to leave, getting things done for work and all of that good stuff. I am hoping the days pass quickly....but not too fast because of all I need to get done!

Well, nothing is in a suitcase, but all clothes are selected and ready to go. That is huge step forward for me LOL! I hope to have them all in bags before Friday. I hate stressing over suitcases the night before. Matthew has to work until 10 or 11 the night before we leave too.

Sounds like you have a good start Erika! I am going to try to have everything packed by Friday as well. I know that I will have last minute things to put in on Sunday night because we are going to a wedding and DS needs to wear a few things that we are bringing for the cruise.

I love that your DH did all the laundry. I bet it made you feel so happy to see that task taken care of. I will be working on a lot of laundry this week as we try to finish up our packing.
