August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 4

I'm having a dilemma and I hope I can make up my mind with the help of you all. On semi formal night, is it really semi formal or dress up? I don't even know of there is a difference. My problem is, I don't have a cocktail dress that fits, I have one black dress that is kind of plain, but not sure if I really want to take it. I have a black skirt and a nice top. Do you think that will not be dressy enough? Are you ladies getting really dressed up for this? I certainly do not want to be under dressed.

honestly I think that would be fine...you will see a wide range of how people dress onboard. I've decided not to bring a cocktail dress either, but I will have a dress on - just not super dressy. Last year I wore a nice blouse and linen pants.

it's nothing to stress about!:)

Not a DCL question, but since many of you have spent tons of time at WDW while I am a DLR person... I thought I would ask here...

While we are at the rented house pre cruise, we are hoping to go to either Blizzard beach or Typhoon Lagoon. Thoughts about which is better, tips on when/etc to go...

We are thinking either the Sunday or Monday prior to boarding the cruise is when we will go...

Thanks!

We love TL's wavepool, especially when it's hot and crowded - No Lines. Slush and gusher the water coaster is great too. The snorkling lagoon has very cold water and it's a bit of an adrenaline rush to be swimming with the sharks.
Otherwise I think that Blizzard beach has the better slides and it's Ski patrol Training camp section is specifically geared for the younger than teen age group.
My DD14 has always preferred BB since aged 9.
The late afternoon prior to closing time is always the best in terms of crowd control. We manage to get as much done in the last 2 hours of the park compared to 5 hours during the daytime. But we tend to just stroll in late because of our annual passes.
Saturday is considered the least crowded day, since most people prefer to be at the main theme parks. Weekdays are more crowded at the water parks.
But it's summer.

That will be a FUN day!! Enjoy!!

We never got there today! Too much other stuff to do.... Maybe one day early next week. Tim & Keira have their swimming banquet tonight (really - a Saturday night?!? :confused3) so we would have had to leave early anyway.

Yeah, I like doing this as well. I prefer being "in the black" when I board the ship with the hope that the money I put down ahead of time covers all the expected costs like Shutters, excursions, tips, rebooking deposit, etc. Unfortunately it never seems to cover the "unexpected" charges. :lmao:

Know what you mean! We've always done it and somehow we still end up getting a bill at the end, too!! We did prepay for a photo package this time as well.

Hi guys

Well it has taken about 6 hours but I have 2 cases full of clothes and shoes! :thumbsup2 What is even better is they are under weight:goodvibes

Tomorrow will be toiletries, make up, electricals and jewellry

Just about to put Mulan on, dh has decided not to join me tonight, but instead is watching some horror, ( I don't do anything scary) ;)

It has rained all day here with thunder & lightening :sad2:

Happy packing
:rolleyes1

About this time is when I start glancing at the weather which, of course, is totally out of my control so I'm not sure why I even bother?!:rotfl:

Behind Emily there are 3 tropical waves doing pretty much doing nothing right now. I've got my eye on the one that just departed Africa...

Do you have a favorite site?

So far, the preceding Wed-Tues is "moderate risk" for development in the far eastern Caribbean: http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/precip/CWlink/ghazards/images/gth_full.png

Hopefully that doesn't arrive in the Bahamas during our cruise!

Candy, I wouldn't stress about it. If you're comfortable with it then go for it. :thumbsup2

Hi,, Randy!! Bruce wants to know if your running?

Hmmm....Like someone else said a while back...probably a game time decision. The heat worries me. I don't want to mess up the whole day by getting sick by running in the heat.

That is an interesting site. If it is accurate and forecasts problems near the Eastern Caribbean around the 16th, then what does that mean for Aug 16-21??? Probably to early to tell which direction it would go.

Remember, Kristin is sailing with us...So we know what that means! :scared1:LOL :scared1: LOL

Candy, I think you will be fine! My dress isn't formal.

Sigh! You joke, but we had about a $150 balance on our last cruise when my wife decided what better way to spend that money then to buy Catherine $180 Dooney bag. I mean, the bag was probably used twice since we got it so that was money well spent. :sad2:

Candy, you will befine with the black skirt and nice top. My mom says to tell you that one night on her last cruise she saw someone in jeans with a sport coat jacket on Formal-Night!!:scared1::scared1:

r- pudo - to take place on a sea day with jeff as a dis meet.

Meeting place will be forward on deck 13 between 2- 2.30pm. There is an area to the left (starboard) side of the currents bar, that has chairs and open space.
If it is storming rain outside then we will have to meet in a sheltered area. I was thinking of the covered area on the left (port) side of the quiet cove pool- this is forward on deck 11 near the start of our tour. If anyone has a good suggestion of another backup meeting place in case of adverse weather your welcome to let us know.

at 2.30p sharp we head off to tour the cabins which hopefully should be done in about an hour or so.
The selection of cabins will be narrowed down to those that are somewhat signficantly different from each other, so that we are not seeing duplicates.

Those who are showing, would be the disers who volunteered their cabins to viewed.

Those who are touring will be the tourists travelling to view the volunteered cabins.

Those who want to do both will come along on the tour to see the other cabins and when we reach their cabin hopefully they will open the door so we can see theirs also.

the lifeboat drill takes place at 4pm.

hopefully as long as we don't linger too long during our tour we should be done to give everyone enough time to meet back at their cabins to pick up the rest of their family for 4pm.

the sailaway party takes place at 4.30pm. you still have time to enjoy yourself.

If possible try to be on board by 1.30pm. There has been alot of changes to the port arrival times by dcl, which may have adversely affected our boarding times also.
There use to be a dcl ship tour that mets at the port adventures desk at 1pm. There is was also a spa tour at this time.
When i got on the dream in april we got on really late (2.20pm). So we dropped off my dm in cabanas the buffet restaurant, went on a tour, then picked her up an hour later. Since we had missed the scheduled spa tour when we went there at 5pm after the sailaway party, it was quiet and they gladly gave us our own little private tour of the spa, salon and fitness center.
There's alot of activities that overlap for you to to have a choice. Some do get repeated on another day.

I have sent details of the tour to all participants. If you have not received the PM or have questions please PM me.

If anyone has any other questions or concerns or ideas to help this tour work please let me know.

No, of course not!

But I do believe there is a well documented and established pattern of weather behavior that has coincided with your past cruises. :rolleyes1 "I'm just saying." :thumbsup2

But Jeff, the graphic on Catherine's bag was perfectly placed and she will no doubt be using it for years to come. I was with Missy and can say with no hesitation that she has a keen eye for spotting the best image in the best spot on the best bag. I hope to have her along when I go shopping in the not too distant future. While this is transpiring, you and Steve need to be in a sports bar and he needs to be buying you a drink. Enough said. Make it happen please. :)
