August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 4

Just a quick CIAO from WDW!

DGH had to connect to Internet for work, and I took the opportunity to steal a few seconds of connection !

Got a free upgrade at AKL ! we see lot of animals. Weather is very hot, be prepared when you arrive.
Ciao to all !
Laura :goodvibes

Hey Laura hope you are having a wonderful holiday.
Looking forward to meeting up next week:thumbsup2

My dh and son will probably ride all the coasters at Universal, I think dd and I will pass on the Hulk and the Dragon one. A lot will depend on how we feel after FJ.

I would skip Dragons, but the Hulk was really fun (I am a coaster girl though). Mario and I were at IoA in 1999 just after it opened and made the mistake of grabbing some BBQ for lunch then riding the Dragon coaster back to back. BIG mistake. Our tummies weren't quite right until dinner!

Does anyone know if it is too late to pre-pay your gratuities? Also, if I have a large shipboard credit, can this be used toward my gratuities?

My TA told me that we could prepay gratuities up to 3 days before sailing.

I left work at 1pm. Went to Walmart, The Disney Store, Learning Express, then got my hair done.

After the hair salon I stopped at Target then picked up Ben, stopped at the house for the thermal bags, picked up Bethany, then we went to BJs.

I got home at 7:15pm.

It is now 8:30pm and the kids have yet to eat dinner (almost done cooking).

Phew! Just reading that made me tired.

Good morining Dis'ers. I'm almost ready to begin thinking about packing. We are spending two days at POR before the cruise. I need some ideas for food so we won't have to eat out every meal. We are flying and taking ME, so grocery options are limited. Any suggestions or ideas?

I just released our 6:30 reservation at Remy on the at sea day so if you want that time, go check it out on the DCL site! Good luck!!!!!

I highly recommend Remy (we did it in May) but since it is on semi formal night, we want to dine with our kids. We plan on doing Remy again on another Dream cruise...

Looks like a rainy weekend here!!

We have shipboard credit and have just made an additional deposit to our shipboard account. Planning on using those funds, in part, for gratuities.

Hoping to get at least one decent day (today) out of it. We might make an impromptu trip to Six Flags. Our school has a reading contest each year that involves passes to Six Flags. Each year we forget to use them! Vicki thought we would go the weekend we get back from the cruise, but I just looked at the vouchers and they expire 8/19?!? At least the kids did the reading part though right?!?

That will be a FUN day!! Enjoy!!

Yeah, I like doing this as well. I prefer being "in the black" when I board the ship with the hope that the money I put down ahead of time covers all the expected costs like Shutters, excursions, tips, rebooking deposit, etc. Unfortunately it never seems to cover the "unexpected" charges. :lmao:

We are hoping to get to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor on Sunday.

Good morning all! sounds like everyone is very busy! dh said to me "one week from today we'll be at AKL" - yea!!

officially started the packing process yesterday - picked out dd's clothes, and did some last minute clothes/shoe shopping. Hoping to get alot done this weekend - for once I don't want to be packing at the last minute..although I'm glad to see I'm not alone in this. :rotfl2:

does anyone know how big the cooler can be to bring on board? wondering if the square softsided one we have will work.

have a great weekend everyone!!

Looks like a rainy weekend here!!

Its been raining cats and dogs here all day amd the weather forcast says its going to last another 3 days - I keep telling myself - its good for the garden.
However I'll definatly be ready for some florida sun and heat!

Did you already notify DCL that you want to pay your gratuities with this money? Or can you tell them once on board?

Here here as well!

Brenda: I got an email back from Bahamas Segway. I had mentioned I knew another party on our ship who was booked on the 9:30AM tour:
"In that case, we current have 7 Segways available for the 9:30 tour. It's best to book through our website." Apparently your presence on the tour swayed them! I guess they'll just have to wait for all of us. Just have to confirm (again) with the rest of the party, and then hopefully we'll be waiting with you bright and early Friday morning. :)

We are almost done with our FE gifts! About 90% of the way there... next step will be packing lists/piles (and making sure there aren't any more quick trips to the store needed next weekend)! I'm so jealous of all of you who are leaving so soon. 2 weeks from today, we'll be lounging at Vero!

Just caught up with page 1 today. OMG and I still have another 50 to go.

Good for you Allison with getting the 9.30am Segway tour. It's loads of fun.
If the ship is suppose to dock at 9.30am, I suppose we better get in line at 9am? just in case they get there a little early, I don't fancy being behind a thousand people trying to get off the ship at the same time:scared1:

FE gifts were done 2 months ago. I've also been throwing stuff into a pile since our last cruise in May, so I've yet to start packing.

One week from now we'll be flying down from NYC to Boardwalk villas.
