Ryan was hysterical!!! We were floating around Castaway and Wilde and James were next to us so we struck up a conversation with them. My first question was, was Ryan a plant. He was so good!! I loved how he counted his money and they shorted him and he stuck his hand out. So glad you got it all on video-PRICELESS!

Returned to WW yesterday and only officially gained .6 so that's pretty good for a 2 week vacation. I made a comment today to our friends who were with us that I should have made an ice cream sandwich with those huge chocolate chip cookies and the vanilla ice cream at Castaway. They were mad that I didn't say it out loud while we were there. But it's things like that which got me to WW in the first place

Would love an update for the medical evacuation. Hope everything is ok for them. It looked like a woman on the stretcher from our vantage point on Deck 12 traveling with an older woman. All I kept thinking when I heard the announcement for the stretcher team was please don't let it be my parents room (which was on the 6th floor).

Just finished watching the news and Irene is headed directly for us in CT this weekend.

Went to the beach today a few towns over. Definately not Castaway Cay. The beach was more like crushed gravel than sand, it was windy (did watch some kite surfers which were amazing) and the water was not the pretty blue-green of the Bahamas. Plus I was in sweats with a towel wrapped around me. I was feeling very much like a spoiled child missing her pretty beach.

I had asked for a dummy date for a 7 day cruise and was given a 3 day in November 2012. Good news is the deposit was $93 per room. Not sure if I should push for a hold on a 7 day for the extra $100 stateroom credit (but it will also mean a bigger deposit). I have a request into Carol for the June 22nd sailing from NYC. Carol must have been reading my mind because she just got back to me.

Hi,

I just wanted to say hello. We were the family that were evacuated from the Dream. My DD who is 10 has spina bifida and hydrocephalus (spinal fluid in her brain). She has a shunt (valve) in her brain that drains the fluid. She began to have seizures. She was taken to the medical center where the decision was made to get her and me off the ship (my DH, and 2 other DD stayed on board). We were loaded onto a tug that took us to Freeport Hospital. One of the ship's doctors stayed with me. We were at the hospital for 6 hours before we got airlifted to the hospital in Miami. While there, my DD had x-rays and a CT scan and found out that her shunt had moved and no longer was doing it's job (spinal fluid was collecting in her brain and causing too much pressure). She had to have a tube put into her scalp to remove the built up spinal fluid, and then had a 2 hour surgery the next day to fix the shunt. The scariest thing was when they told me that on a "coma scale" they have of 1-10, my DD was at an 8!

On Sunday, my DH and DDs got off the ship, rented a van and drove from Orlando to Miami to be with us. Thankfully, my DD was well enough that we could drive back to Orlando, where a wonderful man named Patrick (who works for Disney Cruise Line) got us 2 rooms at the Pop Century Hotel for a couple of nights before our flight back to MN. Patrick was wonderful, he called us everyday to check on us, and even stopped by the hotel to say hello, check in, and give each one of the girls a Mickey Mouse. The crew of the Dream was also wonderful, they allowed my husband to use the ship's phone whenever he needed to, to make calls to our insurance company, and to me at the hospital.

We are finally home now. My DD will be seeing her neurosergeon tommarow. She is feeling alot better. She is really bummed we missed out on the cruise (we were only there 2 days), but I told her that she is ALOT more important than a cruise! We told her that we'd save up to plan another trip sometime.

Anyway, I just thought I would post, thankyou so much for the prayers!

How quickly we start to miss our time on the Dream....we can't wait for our next one. In the meantime, I have to start working on the ADRs for our trip to WDW for Christmas.

Today, I also decided to become an Avon Representative. This is something completely new for me and I am very excited about it!

When are you going to WDW? We are going the week between Christmas and New Years! I can't wait! Good luck with your ADR's!

Check out the June 15th cruise out of NYC!!

Missy is really big on this date, she is very excited to get many members of her large Italian family to try DCL for the first time which would be easy for them since we are 40 minutes from NYC.

The only downside appears to be that we are one of the few bringing our children.

Ooops. Forgot to answer your question about the stateroom. Our biggest incentive to be on this cruise is that it will make 10 cruises for us so we'll be platinum on our 8/25/12 Fantasy Eastern Caribbean cruise so we are just booking to be on the cruise to make 10 and the OBC and online booking benefits. I think we'll be getting a cat 9A on deck 6.

Does the NYC 2-day leave Friday evening and return Sunday morning? We were looking at the 6/15 2-day, but I realized that it probably requires getting Friday off work. It would be nice to just take the train (4 hrs) or shuttle (45 mins) to the port!

Actually, my addiction kicked in even sooner, and we booked the MR 6-day for the 1st week of January (that's our "Christmas vacation" this year). I was hoping to piggyback it to the Rose Bowl, but it's on Jan 2nd this year, because the 1st is a Sunday! Argh!

Next Aug we are planning to do Alaska, but Fantasy Aug 2013 is definitely a good idea... especially if there is an Eastern!

Well today was the first day of school for DS and because of the storm they were going to have a half day tomorrow......but......I just got a call and they cancelled school for the whole day!!!

Yes, you would need to take off Friday.

The August 2013 Fantasy should have 2 easterns unless they really change up the schedule.

We rebooked a dummy for 2013 which MAY be the 7/2/13 Fourth of July sailing, but too early to tell.

Under the category of "no good deed goes unpunished" I bought the CD with all our pictures including the group photos. When I came back to the stateroom to share the good news I see Missy with all the photos laid out on the floor. She looks up at me and says "only about 5 of these photos came out good". I had to return to Shutters to cancel the CD order and buy the 5 she liked.

WDW was fun, we stayed at WL with the Van Beeks and Dobrzynski's (tablemates).

What's your plans after the 2 day?

Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are the 3 most expensive times to sail so if you haven't commited to the Turkey Day cruise I would recommend a sooner than later approach. Just my 2 cents...

Glad you were able to cancel the CD order. I wish concierges had been a bit more helpful in pulling all of my photos for me.
