August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 3

Not a star...it is nothing when you are doing it for a friend... I am just so excited to see the two of you and share this wonderful vacation together!

I know that I have more days then you but I also have to get motivated to really finalizing the details of packing and get a move on!

I am off to have my nails done but have big news....I will share it briefly here.....I HAVE A NEW JOB!

The principal at the school that I have been working at asked if I would teach a class next year instead of being the Technology Integration Specialist. The class is going to be called iPad University. Students will be using their iPads and all the other computers and technology we have to work on projects. The theme of the class is "How can you change the world?" I get to design the whole curriculum and teach the class. I am so excited because it has great benefits, it will be exciting to teach such a innovative new class, and I love the school. This means I will spend the next 3 weeks writing curriculum as quickly as possible so that I am ready for my students on the first day of school. I will see students for 1 hour a day, each day for 9 weeks and then get a new group of students. By the end of the year, all 800 students will have had my class. Our goal is to use the iPads to connect them to the world and work on projects they are passionate about. Lots of new stuff!!!

Alright, time to get ready to go to the spa for my nails!

Ok, the choice of Friday night @ 7:30 appears to be almost unanimous, the last decision is where. I'll ask Concierge for suggestions and be happy to take any from the group.

Sadly Dave and I wont be able to make it as we have our 'Remy' meal that night.

I thought maybe I read the other walls (at least inside the cabin were) so yes no door decorations, but you can put your magnets inside

That sounds right! The concierge outside doors are wood looking ... I've got a picture that I will post after I return home. The concierge gates were left open during the day unless someone chose to shut them. I saw a couple of little kids do this as a game of who could slam it shut the hardest. Sigh. If that happens while someone is trying to deliver FE gifts, just go up to the concierge lounge and a concierge person will let you in the locked gate. There is always a host staffing that lounge during normal hours. I really hope they reconsider those gates when building the Fantasy. In my opinion it was just a hassle having them and they do look "Titanic" like!!!!

I can confirm that the concierge staterooms aren't magnetic on the Dream. I tested this out when we sailed in May in stateroom 12008. So no magnets on those doors. I missed seeing decorated doors in my hallway on that trip.

Well that isn't good. Two of my FE gifts go on the door!

Does anyone have any ideas of other ways to attach anything to the door?

Awesome... dh is still bummed that he didn't get to see Cars 2 w/ us and we will have to hide the Navigators from ds so he doesn't spend the entire cruise in the theater watching it! Finn and Francesco are both ready to hop in his bag to travel w/ us!

Jen-- Congratulations on the new job! That is so exciting! I would love to hear what kind of ideas you come up with for that curriculum.

Question: Is there a complete list of all of the DIS cruisers (including stateroom # and DISname)? I have the list from my FE group (I think we are #2), but I know there is also all of FE #1 and the FE #3 and non-FE people. Would it be possible to compile such a list? (We had a fun little "gift" tradition on our last cruise that I would like to continue if possible.) Thanks!

I will PM you the list for the 3rd group - it is 4 rooms.

Anyone, interested in meeting Aug. 15th? A few of us who are staying @ CIS & Residence Inn are planning on meeting on the 15th.

We will be meeting if the weather permits @ the pool at the Residence Inn. If the weather does not cooperate then in the lobby of the Residence Inn. We are planning on ordering dinner from a local Italian Restr. if anyone would like to join us the more the merrier. I think most of us will be there by 4:30-5:00. So hope you can join us!!

We're staying at the Doubletree from Saturday through Tuesday. I'll talk with DH and the 2 DS if they would like to come and meet some other cruisers. Sounds like fun!

Kristin, will they let you use poster sticky tack to put stuff up? I can't imagine that would hurt their doors. That is a bummer not to be able to decorate your door, that's how I tell which room is ours. I guess you'll have a FE to tell where you are.

I was wondering if I could put stuff up with poster-puddy?? Not sure how concierges would feel about it though. I will have my FE hanging outside of the door though...

Since Spy Kids 4 is premiering August 19, it should be on the ship as well I would guess? We were on the ship in Dec 09 when Princess and the Frog premiered, it was fun to watch there..

That was the movie I was thinking about. I remember seeing a movie trailer commercial and realized that it was going to be released while we were on the Dream.

Disney has teamed up Dimension Films to release this movie so it should be on the Dream. Possibly a Thursday midnight show as they have done in the past with other movies.

OH MY GOSH LAURA!!!!! 3 days!!! I am so excited for you!!!!

I am still at a loss as to what to where for pirate night. I am going accross the valley to get my hair done on Tues. so maybe I will stop at the Disney store and see what they have. I really have to watch what I spend since we have a wedding to pay for at the end of the year!!

I guess there must be a difference between movies Disney is affiliated with and actual Disney movies.

I think it has to do with distribution rights. The distributor for the Captain America movie is Paramount Pictures. Dimension Films produced the Spy Kids 4 movie, but Disney is doing the distribution.
