We did both but mostly stayed inside. On Saturday evening we ventured out to a local place, Solomons Island, walked along the pier and had ice cream. I also got 2 crab cakes from a local restaurant to eat later. Delish!

In 2009 my family and I wore black bottoms and white shirts and we accessorized with some pirate garb.

Here is a photo of our Disboards group from that year to give you an idea of what others wear.

In 2010, I purchased a pirate outfit and DS wore his pirate outfit from Halloween the previous year.

You can't really tell what DS was wearing because he was asleep from his long fun day on Castaway Cay so here is a picture of him from later that evening.

Love your photos. You all look GREAT!! Look forward to meeting you all!!

I hope everyone is having a good evening. I thought that I would start posting tip(s) of the day since we are all getting so excited about the cruise. Does anyone remember that at the resorts some time ago Disney would post tips on it tv channel. It was called Zip-a-Dee-Doh-Dah Tiep of the Day. Anyway, that is where I got the idea. So, I will be posting tips that I have collected from reading the various threads here. Please feel free to share your tips as well. I love reading tips that I did not know about.

My tips today will be specific to Disney Dream staterooms.

I think by now everyone knows the first tip:

1. In order to make your stateroom lights, television and air conditioning/heating operational, you’ll need to insert your Key To The World (KTTW) into the slot next to the door. This automatically returns those elements to their last on/off configuration. It’s meant to be an energy saver but can also be less than desirable sometimes. So rather than just leaving your KTTW inside the slot, use any (credit-card size) card that fits into it. Even the slip of paper on which they write your stateroom number at check-in is reported to do the trick!

2. There are three controls to the bath/shower: The temperature knob, the water valve and the drain control. The drain control is by itself and will be right below you as you look into the bath/shower. Simply flip the square knob on the top from side to side to open/close the drain. To turn the water on/off, use the lower lever below the temperature knob. Pull it out to turn on the water, push it back down to turn the water off. To switch between bath, overhead/’rain’ shower and the removable/adjustable showerhead, turn the lever between left, right and center positions. The temperature knob is the easiest to understand, but has an additional feature: a child safety temperature control. With the lock engaged, the water temperature goes to a very warm and comfortable level. If you wish to get the water even hotter, press the tiny button on the top of the knob in and continue to turn in the heat direction. Warning, it can get VERY hot.

3. Another description of how to work the shower: The near-side dial right for the shower. Turn it left for the bathtub. Your far-side dial determines your temperature with an additional button to increase and decrease temperature.

4. Be sure the hairdryer is plugged in the correct outlet (the 220 volt which is the far right outlet on the desk).

5. Although you can go to guest services to get your current balance statement, you can also use the MENU button on your in-room television remote and select the Guest Services option to view your current statement (although it can be a bit confusing). While you’re there, check out the on demand services where you can choose from many on-demand films, even non-Disney ones, if you ever get tired of the live ABC, Disney Channel, ESPN and CNN offerings. And they’re all at no additional cost!

6. The TV antenna is located on top of the TV. If your remote stops working it could be because the antenna has fallen off. Also, if your TV freezes unplug the router from the wall and plug it back in so that the TV can “reboot.”

:goodvibes:thumbsup2Thanks,, for the GREAT TIPS!!:thumbsup2:goodvibes

Thanks, for the tip...Going to have to check my cc statement to see if we got a refund also!!

What is everyone wearing for Semi-Formal night??

Tonight Emily got the most adorable black and white dress at the thrift store (for $5.99)! :woohoo: Seriously it is the cutest little dress - really simple in a way but also very elegant! Paul and Ben are wearing black pants, white shirts and some Disney tie. I have a little black dress but I still want to try to find something different.

I'm running out of time to do everything I need to before we leave (especially lose weight)!!!.

We need to be supporting each other! I feel like I am running out of time for everything as well. I should be doing crunches instead of being on the DIS. :confused3

My DD5 donated her hair this weekend too. She LOVES her new short cut. I'm so proud of her. I think the 102 degree weather was a good push for her finally get it cut. If I can ever figure out how to upload pictures I'll post them.

Good for your DD! I think it is great that she donated her hair being as young as she is. This is DD's 3rd donation and I am sure she will continue to donate it as she gets older.

:yay::yay::yay:
Emily looks SO BEAUTIFUL !!!! Love the new cut !!! :thumbsup2

Thanks Laura! I think she looks beautiful as well...but I am her mother! :rolleyes1

I'm right there with ya Jen - Even counting the days too! I didn't exercise this weekend like i wanted to - but i think splashing around in the pool for a few hours each day counts, right?
I'm back on Isagenix and even counted out when i have to start the 9 day program to drop the extra few pounds right before we leave (without interfering with the rest of my life). So hopefully, stricter diet and actually MOVING :yay: for these last few weeks will help me trim down to at least somewhere where i feel comfortable in a bathing suit.
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: CHEERING YOU ON :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Great job to get moving. I am promising myself to exercise before I go to bed tonight. We will have to keep posting on what we are doing so that we can help motivate each other these last few weeks! :thumbsup2

GLAD you loved the concert !!!:banana::banana:
:sad1: That's so sad about Sean ! Thanks for letting us know ...
I'll write to Jude.

laura :cloud9:

The concert was so good - it was a wonderful night out with Paul. :goodvibes

I am sure that Jude would like a note. She is holding up well but is feeling a lot of stress right now with all that is happening with Sean and trying to keep life as normal as possible for the kids. I talked with her tonight and she sounded very tired.

We are doing cocktail dresses for the girls, and dress pants shirts and ties for the guys. We are leaving the jackets behind this time. Too much weight in the luggage.

Sounds like we will be well matched at the table!

And THAT is what makes them great
Told ya you had nothing to worry about ;)
How did you get into the ellipse? did you have floor tix and get in through the UPC lottery?

I figured they would play through the rain but I was totally impressed with how the rain just seemed to make them more intense. U2 is one of our favorite bands so it was just a great experience. As for getting into the inner ring....we just had general "field" tickets. The concert was at the University of Minnesota on the field of our new football stadium. We got there about an hour after the gates opened and when we walked in, I noticed some people were talking about being let into the inner circle. Paul and I walked over and security let us pass through. We were so surprised and now thinking about it and looking at the photos, we are just stunned with what we experienced. Again, AWESOME!

Everyone's outfits sound perfect. Bruce was going to bring his suit. But maybe I can talk him out of the jacket I doubt it though...

I am going to wear a black cocktail dress that I wore for our School's Night Out!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Nice! Now I really need to get looking because everyone's outfits do sound perfect. I like the dress I have but I would just like to find something that I REALLY like!

Today, I broke out one of my cruise songs CD's! Is anyone else listneing to cruise music??:)

We always listen to Disney music! :rotfl2: We have been listening to cruise music for weeks as we sit outside and grill. Love it!

Now I need some advice. I have 2 massages booked for myself and 1 for husband. :) My husband's massage is on CC, and he has never had a massage on the island before. I have 1 onn CC booked @9am and 1 on the at sea day @8am. I can only keep 1 of my appts:confused:. Now which one do I keep???

If we dock late I will be cancelled and the CC one is more expensive, but I want a chair on deck while at sea, so I usually go on deck really early and read while my family sleeps a little later. (only reserving the chair my butt is actually in, not looking to start the reserving seats issue LOL!!!:lmao::lmao:)

Good luck with this one! I would have no idea which one to cancel - they both sound wonderful! How long do you have before you have to make a decision?

Marsha - I LOVE your pirate photos. It is really cool that you were able to take your group photos as well....especially the one with Mickey!

Keep the tips coming. Even the ones I know about are good reminders. Plus, it just all builds the excitement!

Alright, I must do some exercising before I do any more things on the computer!

I am not sure what I am wearing. DS will be wearing a suit and DH will not dress up since he cannot stand to wear a tie.

It was really nice to take a photo with Pirate Mickey. Someone in our DIS met arranged for it. In 2010 the "sitting fee" was $85 and we all chipped in and you could buy the picture if you wanted to. It was very cool. Even Captain Hook came over and "antagonized" the girl who was dressed up like Peter Pan. That was a cute interaction.

OK - so put off working out all day but finally got some Wii Zumba in!

I just ordered more packing cubes tonight!!

I saw this 4-week plan on active.com... it will almost be done by cruise day! I'm a bit intimidated as far as trying it goes, but I thought I'd put it out there:
http://www.active.com/fitness/Artic...s-4-Week-Workout-Plan.htm?cmp=17-7-999&page=1

We have 4 more weeks of Couch-to-5K, which means we are still on track to run/jog the entire CC 5K. However, the run Friday morning in 90-degree heat and humidity almost killed us! Hopefully it won't be that bad in CC!

Yeah, my exercise and weight loss was pretty much a pipe dream!! My pirate skirt will be held together by a safety pin or something, since it doesn't zip up all the way comfortably LOL.

Alexa and I will be a bit colorful, her dress is black on top but multi on the bottom. My little black dress is purple LOL.

Good job! :thumbsup2 I just finished a 1/2 hour walk with the family and then some ab work with DD. We also both just put 2 post it notes each on the fridge...one with our goal and one with a message to inspire us for tomorrow. DD does not need to lose weight but her goal is just to continue to tone for dance.

I just ordered more packing cubes tonight!!

Yeah for packing cubes! :rotfl:

OMG - this brings back an awesome memory!! :) The music and song are forever stuck in our heads. Tim (who just turned 16) must have been 3 or 4 years old at the time... we were staying at OKW and the resort channel was the ONLY channel we were permitted to watch!! He tapped his foot to the beat of the "Tip of the Day" and was sooooo excited by it for some reason. We video taped the whole thing and every once in awhile take a look at it for an excellent, personal Disney memory! :)

Marsha-I recognize some cruisers in your 2009 picture from a 2003 cruise we took-Mary (WDWLVR) and her husband. They were seated at the table next to us at dinner all week.

Weight Loss-been doing WW since January, walking 5-6 times a week and kickboxing 2x a week (which changed to 4x starting last week for the next 2 weeks until vacation). I've lost 34 pounds! My goal was to reach my cruise weight from 2003 which was my lowest cruising weight. We have a week in the world prior to the cruise so I'm hoping all the walking and stair climbing at the water parks will help keep it in control. Gotta save up for dessert on the Dream :lovestruc

Semi-Formal night-DD14 is wearing a tank/skirt style dress, I have a super comfy dress in navy blue from Lands End and DH and DS are wearing khakis and polos.

Pirate night-matching black POTC t-shirts with bandanas/pirate hats/wigs and accessories.

Palo night-my dress is a tad dressier than semi formal night. It's a hot pink cocktail dress with a ruffled front. Considered returning it but DH, DD and DM won't let me. We might not even keep the Palo ressie if our friends can't get added to our ressie.

Went car shopping last night with DH and always forget how frustrating it can be. :sad2: He's been trying to decide what car he wants so for the past 2 weeks we had been window shopping at the different dealerships in the area. So, he finally narrowed it down on Saturday but the didn't have the exact configuration he wanted. The salesman then gives us a call Saturday evening to say that he found one on the lot but it was almost closing time so we would have to wait until Monday to see it.

Then, we get a call Monday morning to tell us that they sold it. So, we went in last night again and they found another one for us and are shipping it in. So, hopefully, we'll have a new car within the week.

Good Morning Everyone.

Laura - how excited are you 6 days - I am just excited at 17.

Jen - Love the hair cut on Emily. Great buy on the dress! My DD's and I have hit Marshalls a lot and got some great deals!

Kristin - I guess I really need to get some of the cubes.

LOVE THE TIPS OF THE DAY! Keep those coming.

Tip I heard and which I went out and got was a power strip. They say there are only a few outlets in the room and with all the electronics we have these days - well you know. Make sure it is an approved one.

That must have been really cool. I would love to be arrange something like that for our group!!

I think this still can be arranged. I know the group for the DVC member cruise this year is trying to arrange something like that. What the person did last year was called DCL to see who to contact at Shutters. Once onboard, the person went to Shutters immediately and told them that our group wanted to take a picture on pirate night. The photographer scheduled the picture at 7:00 p.m. At our DIS meet, those who wanted to participate in the group photo shoot chipped in about $6 - $7 and gave it to the organizer who then paid for the sitting fee. Of course, later, I purchased the picture.

I just ordered more packing cubes tonight!!

You are addicted.

That is so cool! I never even knew that you could do something like that. For the $85 - did you have a set amount of time or was there a set number of photos they took?

We were instructed to be at the atrium at 7:00 p.m. sharp because Mickey would be pulled out of line to take a picture with our group. The photographer organized us, took several shots, and it was done. It is a good memento.
