Hey Kristin,

Got your FB question (sort of). We fly down on Sat the 13th. I am answering you here instead of FB b/c I just don't get FB. I'm an I.T. professional. For the last 15 years I have been an application programmer and database administrator, but trying to figure out FB is beyond my "logical" ability :rotfl2::confused3 Your question is supposed to be somewhere on my "wall" but I sure can't find it. Honestly, I don't know how people communicate via FB

Hi Jeff,

Where are you guys staying the night before??

Hi Jeff,

Where are you guys staying the night before??

We will be at CIS near Universal Studios for 3 days. We were thinking of staying on-property but the Hard Rock, Royal Pacific, and Portofino Bay were very pricey. Got a $80 a night rate at CIS.

We are being picked up by Southern Elegance Tuesday morning around 9:30 and expect to be at the port by a little before 11 AM. What about you guys?

I'm running out of time to do everything I need to before we leave (especially lose weight)!!!

We don't dress for pirate night. I'll get everyone to dress semi-formal on formal night. I still need to finish the FEs even though I've kinda known what I was going to make for eons! :rolleyes1

I have to throw a birthday bash for the princess. She turns 4 the day before we leave. Of course she knows we leave the day after her birthday, so if I do the party too far before hand, I'll have to listen to her saying we're leaving the next day for that many more days.

The stress has officially begun, but I'm still excited.

My DD5 donated her hair this weekend too. She LOVES her new short cut. I'm so proud of her. I think the 102 degree weather was a good push for her finally get it cut. If I can ever figure out how to upload pictures I'll post them.

I am platinum and did my checkin today and as expected was told I did not have to choose an arrival time because of being platinum. I kind of expected there to be something on my signature form to bring to port that said I could arrive whenever.. but instead it was just a barcode. I know when I did the online checkin for my parents, their arrival time showed on the form.

Is that how it was for everyone else? I took a screen shot of the message that said I didnt have to choose a time just incase.

Thanks

Ginny

Just reposting to see if any concierge or other platinum cruisers had a similar experience when printing their docs.

Thanks

Emily loves the cut, I love the cut and she is going to look BEAUTIFUL in all our family photos with the short hair! :goodvibes

:yay::yay::yay:
Emily looks SO BEAUTIFUL !!!! Love the new cut !!! :thumbsup2

Morning Everyone! I am off to work today. With the purchase of all our iPads, our district was given 2 days of Apple training and so today and tomorrow I have to go in to work. It should be kind of fun though. After work I will be running or working out. I am also going to be taping reminders up all over my house because I have 21 days to lose the weight I want to before this trip and there is no time left to not be doing everything I can to be in shape! Have a great Monday everyone!

I'm right there with ya Jen - Even counting the days too! I didn't exercise this weekend like i wanted to - but i think splashing around in the pool for a few hours each day counts, right?
I'm back on Isagenix and even counted out when i have to start the 9 day program to drop the extra few pounds right before we leave (without interfering with the rest of my life). So hopefully, stricter diet and actually MOVING :yay: for these last few weeks will help me trim down to at least somewhere where i feel comfortable in a bathing suit.
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: CHEERING YOU ON :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I know I can't wait to get mine!! I'm going to meet with my TA Mon. or Tues.
Yay, for single digits!!!! What day are you leaving?:cool1::yay::dance3:

Have you got your documents ?
Marco and I leave on Monday August 1st - very early , when you in USA will still be ... deeply sleeping !!!!

We had the best time at the U2 concert last night. Paul and I ended up in the inner circle, under the "claw" and about 10 to 15 feet back. I cannot believe how close we were to stage and the band. It was incredible. The other thing that was incredible was the raging storm - it pour and pour and pour rain down for most of the concert....but the band played on and it was so cool.

On a very sad note....I would like it if everyone could think positive thoughts for Jude (jba02) and her family who were suppose to cruise with us and then canceled. On Friday night her husband fell down and hurt himself really bad. He fractured his skull and has bleeding on the brain. He is still in ICU but is alert. They were suppose to see a neurosurgeon last night but I haven't heard from her yet to know how that went. It is really sad and I just wanted to share.

GLAD you loved the concert !!!:banana::banana:
:sad1: That's so sad about Sean ! Thanks for letting us know ...
I'll write to Jude.

LAST CALL FOR CABIN TOUR.

Meeting place will be Forward on deck 13 between 2- 2.30pm. There is an area to the left (Port) side of the Currents Bar, that has chairs and open space.
If it is storming rain outside then we will have to meet in a sheltered area. I was thinking of the covered area on the left (port) side of the quiet Cove pool- this is Forward on Deck 11 near the start of our tour. If anyone has a good suggestion of another backup meeting place in case of adverse weather your welcome to let us know.
BIG THANKYOU for organizing this !!!
See you all on deck 13 !!!! :grouphug:
I am sure ;););) there will be NO RAIN !!!!!!

What is everyone wearing for Semi-Formal night??
I am thinking of a black cocktail-dress , knee long - and maybe a silver "manteaux" ( sort of long sweater made of raw flax (?) ... )
because I always feel the freezing airconditioning .
DGH changed his mind : he is now willing to bring a suit (blue one ?) ... so he can wear one of his :rotfl: famous :confused3 GRUMPY ties !!!

What about you ? What are others thinking of ?

:dance3::dance3::dance3: We'll be out of the door in :cheer2:6 days !!!!

We are doing cocktail dresses for the girls, and dress pants shirts and ties for the guys. We are leaving the jackets behind this time. Too much weight in the luggage.

Everyone's outfits sound perfect. Bruce was going to bring his suit. But maybe I can talk him out of the jacket I doubt it though...

I am going to wear a black cocktail dress that I wore for our School's Night Out!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I was just reviewing my credit card statement and I noticed a credit from DCL for $6.05. Did anyone else get this? Any idea what this credit is for? I was not notified that I would be getting any credit.

We got a small credit as well... A little while ago...not sure what it is for though

I did too-- I remember getting it before the last cruise as well. I think it means that the actual taxes/port charges that DCL is paying are less than the estimated amount that they originally charged with the cruise fare.

ETA: We got $7.86 so it is somewhat variable (I think based on what you were quoted when you booked).

I got $6.05 for each of our rooms. So it must be a credit per stateroom. The cost for each stateroom was different, so the credit doesnt seem to be a %. Hey, every little bit helps!

I just got it on my most recent statement. If you find out details on why/what it is, let us know.

I think I will be wearing a long, not real formal sleeveless dress. They guys will probably wearing long sleeve button downs and maybe a tie/jacket. DH doesn't want to wear his jacket, but DS likes to dress up on the cruise....

I got a small credit on my statement as well $3 or $4.
Today, I broke out one of my cruise songs CD's! Is anyone else listneing to cruise music??:)

So how did everyone survive the 100 degree heatwave this weekend?

Did everyone stay inside or brave the heat?

I did both.

We did both but mostly stayed inside. On Saturday evening we ventured out to a local place, Solomons Island, walked along the pier and had ice cream. I also got 2 crab cakes from a local restaurant to eat later. Delish!

Hi! It's been a while since I (the new girl) have been on here...so much to do to be ready for our first cruise! I must say that Kritter has been an amazing help for me with planning ~ thank you, K!! I'm struggling a bit with pirate night... have a costume for my 9yo boy, but not sure what the rest of us are going to do. Kritter sent me a link to the item she purchased... (thank you again!), but just wondering what others are doing in terms of dressing up (or not!)... My husband found a Pirates of the Carribean tee online, though it's kinda creepy and I fear it would scare some of the little guys... Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!
Michele pirate: arrrggh

In 2009 my family and I wore black bottoms and white shirts and we accessorized with some pirate garb.

Here is a photo of our Disboards group from that year to give you an idea of what others wear.

In 2010, I purchased a pirate outfit and DS wore his pirate outfit from Halloween the previous year.

You can't really tell what DS was wearing because he was asleep from his long fun day on Castaway Cay so here is a picture of him from later that evening.

I hope everyone is having a good evening. I thought that I would start posting tip(s) of the day since we are all getting so excited about the cruise. Does anyone remember that at the resorts some time ago Disney would post tips on it tv channel. It was called Zip-a-Dee-Doh-Dah Tiep of the Day. Anyway, that is where I got the idea. So, I will be posting tips that I have collected from reading the various threads here. Please feel free to share your tips as well. I love reading tips that I did not know about.

My tips today will be specific to Disney Dream staterooms.

I think by now everyone knows the first tip:

1. In order to make your stateroom lights, television and air conditioning/heating operational, you’ll need to insert your Key To The World (KTTW) into the slot next to the door. This automatically returns those elements to their last on/off configuration. It’s meant to be an energy saver but can also be less than desirable sometimes. So rather than just leaving your KTTW inside the slot, use any (credit-card size) card that fits into it. Even the slip of paper on which they write your stateroom number at check-in is reported to do the trick!

2. There are three controls to the bath/shower: The temperature knob, the water valve and the drain control. The drain control is by itself and will be right below you as you look into the bath/shower. Simply flip the square knob on the top from side to side to open/close the drain. To turn the water on/off, use the lower lever below the temperature knob. Pull it out to turn on the water, push it back down to turn the water off. To switch between bath, overhead/’rain’ shower and the removable/adjustable showerhead, turn the lever between left, right and center positions. The temperature knob is the easiest to understand, but has an additional feature: a child safety temperature control. With the lock engaged, the water temperature goes to a very warm and comfortable level. If you wish to get the water even hotter, press the tiny button on the top of the knob in and continue to turn in the heat direction. Warning, it can get VERY hot.

3. Another description of how to work the shower: The near-side dial right for the shower. Turn it left for the bathtub. Your far-side dial determines your temperature with an additional button to increase and decrease temperature.

4. Be sure the hairdryer is plugged in the correct outlet (the 220 volt which is the far right outlet on the desk).

5. Although you can go to guest services to get your current balance statement, you can also use the MENU button on your in-room television remote and select the Guest Services option to view your current statement (although it can be a bit confusing). While you’re there, check out the on demand services where you can choose from many on-demand films, even non-Disney ones, if you ever get tired of the live ABC, Disney Channel, ESPN and CNN offerings. And they’re all at no additional cost!

6. The TV antenna is located on top of the TV. If your remote stops working it could be because the antenna has fallen off. Also, if your TV freezes unplug the router from the wall and plug it back in so that the TV can “reboot.”

I have also received a $6 credit, not sure what it is for, but I will take it!:thumbsup2

Now I need some advice. I have 2 massages booked for myself and 1 for husband. :) My husband's massage is on CC, and he has never had a massage on the island before. I have 1 onn CC booked @9am and 1 on the at sea day @8am. I can only keep 1 of my appts:confused:. Now which one do I keep???

If we dock late I will be cancelled and the CC one is more expensive, but I want a chair on deck while at sea, so I usually go on deck really early and read while my family sleeps a little later. (only reserving the chair my butt is actually in, not looking to start the reserving seats issue LOL!!!:lmao::lmao:)
