August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 3

It's funny because my oldest and best friend from childhood was January 11 and my college roommate was January 14th. My DD is January 16 so although I'm not much into astrology I'm hoping it's a good sign that my daughter is the same sign as two of my closest friends.

My birthday is Jan 16 too!!!! It's a great day!!!! I've known several people born on our day!!! I also have quite a few friends with b'day on the 11th!

I know that I am so late but just found this board. We are obviously DCL newbies! We are sailing the 16th as well and can't wait! I am quickly adding posts so I can PM Jen regarding the 8/16 cruise. I am traveling with my DH, DD who is 6 and DS who is 11. We will be at the Beach Club the week before.

We sent Bruce out to get bagels this morning and a lady hits him.I am telling you we need a vacation and NOW!!

YIKES!!! Kristin, I think you guys definitely need a vacation.....soon! Good thing we don't have too much longer!! I hope you get to rest your foot some too!!

It is a good month, my dd will be sixteen on January 13th!

Yeah, for January b'days!!!!

That would be Emily - last cruise she ate the chicken nuggets off the kids meal for every dinner! Even our server was teasing her by the end. DS is starting to get a bit more adventurous but is planning on steak every night. It is DH and I who will want all the different things.

Don't get any of us going on the desserts though...there is NO way I will be able to decide on just one!

DH and I are picky eaters, he more than me, but we do try things!! DS is the least picky in our family!! Last year,when we went on the Freedom, he actually tried escargot!!! I was amazed! DH and I didn't try it!!! As for desserts...well count me in on getting multiples!! I think one night I ordered 3!!!! LOL!!! I like desserts!!

Well, my fun times with my family came to an abrupt end on Wednesday when we were in a car accident. Thankfully, there 3 kids in the car and they were not hurt. Our car was considered a total loss which is a shame. I, on the other hand, seemed to have gotten all of the injuries. I broke my arm in several places. The bone came out in one section. I had to have it cleaned out and then will have to have surgery on it later this week. I told the surgeon we had to get all fixed up by the cruise.

I'm glad the kids are alright and you didn't get hurt too bad!! for a speedy recovery!!!

Alexa ate Mac and Cheese and rice every meal! They never even bothered to ask what she wanted, they just brought it right to her every night LOL.

Desserts, now that's a whole different story, we ate A LOT of those!! One night I had a hard time deciding, and finally picked one, and the waiter brought me both anyway. And another night dh ordered two for me. Yummy!

YEAH for desserts!!!

We ordered the packing cubes! One set for each person in the family and now we will be organized!

We ought to have some organized packers on this cruise!!! Ebags should love us! Oh yeah, I ordered some too! One set for each of us!!
Ok, you guys were chatty yesterday and today! I'm a few pages behind. I'll try to get caught up tomorrow.

We are in AZ again and it was a cool 117 degrees today!!
It is suppose to be even hotter tomorrow! Hopefully it won't be too bad while DD and I go shopping for her wedding dress.

You all are BAD influences!!! I ordered packing cubes last night. This will put hubby over the edge (he'll bawk at the waste of money). I really don't think I need them, but I was sold on the pictures/testimonials. I also like the idea of keeping them zipped in the drawers (deter bed bugs, etc???). That's my thought & I'm sticking to it. BTW... don't tell hubby I ordered or how much they are, K?

It was all the hype about them that hooked me too. I am still a little unsure about why the reviews on these are unbelievable. People say they will never travel again without them. I hope to say the same thing after our first trip using them. OH, and it took a lot of convincing for my husband to get on board with spending the money on these.

I blame you, you know. You posted the coupon code. I only ordered 2 sets and the toiletry bag. They should be here by the 30th which happens to be the day the coupon expires. If I like them enough, there's time to get more.

We have really nice toiletry bags from LLBean that I love.

I only ordered a set of Mediums and a set of sm/med/lar combo. I thought the same thing about ordering more once they come in and I can check them out. My goal is to eventually have a color coded set for each of us, but thats 6 sets ($$$$$). OH, and I threw in this little bag since I thought it would be handy on the boat to carry wave phone, a diaper/wipes, etc.

I soo agree with you. It was all the hype that got me to purchase them too. My mom used them last week when she went to VA and she loves them. She said she will never ever travel without them again!!

I'm so excited for this cruise, like... REALLY EXCITED. I don't think you have any idea how excited I really truly am. I have no idea what my room number is, as my parents are taking care of it all, but I am really excited for the sailing. Less than 2 months away!

I have read it and I am not sure how I feel about it. I will be really bummed if this means that we are all getting on the ship a bit later.

I will also say that I am just feeling a bit frustrated with this cruise over things like this. I know that people who cruise a lot and that concierge should get to book what they want and I think I am just feeling sorry for myself with some of it. By the time I got online to book things, there were no Palo reservations, all the cabanas were rented and only a later time to board (10:30 or 11:00 - I can't remember and the site is down so I can't even check). In the past, I was okay with not getting a Palo reservation because I knew if I got to port early enough, I could at least have a chance at getting a brunch.

I know it will be fine if I don't get to eat at Palo or things like that. I guess the biggest deal is that I don't want to miss out on any extra time on the ship. It really shouldn't be a big deal but it is still just one of those things that for some reason is a bit annoying to me.
