Thanks, Beth. I think if Jeff hangs his FE on your door and I do it on my parents it still allows for us both to partake in the FE exchange......I think with a few of us in concierges this may make it the best way..
Did the concierge team contact you before your 120 mark?? I am booked with a TA and have never gotten an email from concierges yet...Is it too soon for them to contact me??Thanks,!!
Hi Kritter, I'm not that experienced with concierge as the May cruise will be our first experience. Jeff is more of the concierge expert so my advice is to listen to his wise counsel!
What I did for my upcoming May cruise was email concierge a couple of days before the 120 mark with my booking "desires." I didn't bother calling them as I thought it was better to give them something on paper. But who knows, maybe it wouldn't have mattered? I did end up talking to a concierge person on that 120th day -- mainly b/c I called them myself to book those Remy and Palo ressies first thing that morning after trying and not succeeding to do it myself at midnight (due to maintenance the site was down). It must have been fixed after I turned in, because by 5am there were no Palo or Remy to be had online.
In hindsight, I'm glad I did call the concierge desk first thing, given what the nice person told me over the phone about how the reservations were being booked quickly. There must have been lots of platinum members in addition to concierge people who get to make reservations at 120 days out. With the bigger ship there are more people wanting to get their requests in! Not sure if they would have been calling me that day....but I didn't want to take the chance. And then a few days after that I did get a standard email from the concierge people reminding me about the 120 day opportunity (of course, it was already past that date). They also called and sent me a couple of emails, checking in on me. Gotta love the DCL service. I was amazed.
With all the media hype about the Dream and the christening cruise going on, I bet concierge was just swamped. In more normal times, my guess is that they would have reached out to their guests in a more timely fashion before the 120 day mark. My TA was the one that gave me their email and the number that I was supposed to call. From what I've gleaned on the boards, dining does hold back space for concierge people so I would imagine that I would have gotten some of my requests granted, though maybe not the specific times and date that I might have wanted. My only big desire was to be in Remy or Palo for the birthday gig, so my wish was fulfilled...and then some.
Good luck when your 120 day booking opens up. I'll definitely report on our dining experience after our May cruise. Steve and I are doubly excited about that cruise as Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is supposed to be released while we are on board. I've only seen the first one, so I had better go rent #2 and #3 before we sail.
