So the cruise is getting closer and closer! The only downside is that when the cruise is here...that means Summer is over. Bummer.

Has everyone paid off their cruises? I need to look and see when it is due. We are Gold, but for the first time ever on a cruise are pre booking NOTHING. We have zero plans to go to Palo or Remy. I may go to Palo one night... and just have a drink at the bar (to see the ambience compared to Wonder and Magic) but no strong desire personally to eat there on such a short cruise.

I'm not doing any Spa treatments except Rain Forest and that doesn't require a pre booking. Also booking zero shore excursion since it is a Castaway Cay double dip and the Nassau day we are doing on our own. Any reason/advantage anyone can think of to go ahead and pay out early and register, etc? :confused3

I do need to get on the stick and buy air, hotel, transfers and Travel insurance.

Hi All!!

A very RAINY and COLD day here in Southern Maine!!! Just made a homemade mac and cheese and looking forward to cuddling in front of the tv tonight. The "Easter Bunny" still has work to do, but that will be after the kiddos go to sleep :)

Tomorrow after our egg hunt, we will head to church and then to my mom and dad's for dinner followed by my uncle's for dessert....good thing we live in the same development :)

Amanda, you FE looks great!!

Jen-so glad that your roll out went well!!!

Mary---I know who made your FE :) We have one very similiar, as do our friends who are travelling with us :)

Well, off to have din din!

HAPPY EASTER ONE AND ALL!!!!:cheer2:

Hi all, we are back from our 7 night Western on the Magic.

Lots of posts to catch up on!!

We had the best vacation we ever had, albeit the priciest, but it was worth it! Heck, the bill at the end was 2700 and we didn't even visit the spa. The Roy suite was wonderful!!

The weather was perfect. I touched a shark in Key West. In Grand Cayman we did a cute pirate encounter then cab to Royal Palms on 7 mi beach where I jet skied with my 11 yr old DD. In Cozumel we did the Dolphinaris swim. On CC we had a cabana #3 (LOVED!) and did parasailing for the first time.

While we were away, shoreside concierge booked cabanas for our CC days (#3 and #6) and Atlantis ...

I wasn't even thinking about reserving dining for the 3 days in WDW pre-cruise ... thanks for reminding me!! :)

Hi all! Hope everyone is doing well and planning, planning, and more planning!! I have been doing more lurking these days then posting. Work has been crazy!!! Not sure what happened nine months ago, but a lot of people were getting "busy".:rotfl2::rotfl2: I am a labor and delivery nurse and we have been swamped, on to of that Joint Commission (who gives the thumbs up of thumbs down to hospitals) came to visit:scared1: and they installed a new computer system!!:scared1::scared1: all kinds of fun!!

Back to cruise stuff: We have our FE from our last cruise. Actually we have 2 (a halloween one and a non specific one)

I was just looking at excusions for the Bahamas and was thinking of the Blue Lagoon Beach Day. Is anyone doind this?? Has anyone done it before???

Hope everyone has a great Weekend. Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates! Happy Passover for thoses who celebrate!

Mary

Hi Mary,
We are planning on the Blue Lagoon Beach Day too. I had looked it up on Cruise critic and from what I saw, it sounds nice. If you hear anything else, please let me know. We did the Atlantis last time and I really don't want to go off on our own in the Bahamas. This just sounds like a nice day to spend at the beach and the price seems very reasonable. It looks like a lot of people are staying on board so, I thought It might be nice to get off. I have two sons 11 and 14.

Is anyone else looking at this excursion?

Kim

DW is busy doing the Easter baskets here and setting out the eggs for the Easter egg hunt... not as hectic as Christmas Eve thankfully, but she puts in a HUGE effort on their baskets and such :)

Meat pies and ricotta pies are done.... also a nice tomato pie :) Before we hit all that though we're going out for Easter Brunch.

Hope all those celebrating have a wonderful day tomorrow.

I'm sure this is being discussed elsewhere on the DIS, but wanted to throw this out there for our group in case anyone was renting a car for any upcoming trips.

Orlando gas station charges $5.69/gallon.

Unbelievable surprise for those returning rental cars to MCO, eh?!

WOW, just saw the Hess gas station here at WDW gas was $3.76!! Not to bad. I need to start hiding the eggs too we are still here at WDW!!

Happy Easter!!

Believe it or not, we have usually found that Hess station to have a decent price....

I was shocked to see that they had such a GREAT price on gas. Hope your kids enjoy the day tomorrow. Did they have this week off??

I was reading that CT has hit the $4.00/gallon mark... here in NJ we are still around $3.65 - but it varies all over the state.

Our kids actually have off next week... they lose a day though for snow make-up.

Today, my mom told me that gas was $4.08!!UGH!!:scared1::scared1:

So glad you had a great time. Welcome back to reality, rain and skyrocketing gas prices. I have to ask you, what did you like so much about the cabanas? I like being with people, and the cabanas seem to be so private, are they?

I didn't even see it since I was just planning to walk around Nassau as my DH is taking my DD on the swim with sea lions. I will check it out but with 2 days at CC, I will have to see.

Mmmm, Mmmm sounds good to me.

I just asked my DH and he said we paid $4.23 for super today so it would be a few pennies cheaper for regular, this has to end, it is getting scary since gas prices are affecting everything.:scared1:

Happy Easter to everyone. It is a beautiful day in Northern Virginia. My kids had a great time hunting around the backyard for the elusive easter eggs!

Beth

Happy Easter Everyone!

DH and I were talking today about the price of gas and our vehicles and then I went online and discovered that Southwest actually had decent prices so....we are flying! Yeah! The past 2 times to WDW we have had to drive (26-27 hours) and so we are excited to be flying! :cool1:

Our flight will get us there Monday night at 9:30 PM. I am not sure what we will do for a hotel that night. I would like to possibly just stay at the airport since we are flying in so late. If we don't stay there, I would imagine that we will stay near port wherever it is the cheapest.

I made our flight home for Wednesday so that means we will get our couple of days at WDW. It is shorter then what we planned but still very nice to have a couple of days.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
Jen

I'm still waiting for the prices to drop to get home. I bought our way there but it's $292 each one way to get home and that's CRAZY!!!

Gas prices on Long Island are running from $4.03-$4.25 for regular. We are still planning on the Autotrain out of Va, about a 5 hour drive there and then get on the train. We will have our car and not have to rent one (saving some $$)

I was on Jetblue.com today and could get us $235 round trip which isnt bad, but it would end up costing alot more (multiply x5), after the car, and transportation to and from the airport, etc. I will keep watching.

As far as the Blue Lagoon Beach day, it sounds great, reasonable price, but with 4 days at Vero Beach before and 2 CC stops, not sure about another beach day for the rest of the family. Give me a book, beach chair and a frosty beverage and I am good!! But the hubby and kids prefer to ride the waves, not the floats in the lagoon.

Happy Easter!!

Hi everyone! Hope it was a great Easter weekend everywhere!!

..I've been pretty much MIA because our cruise plans have been in flux. When we booked the cruise, DS15 didn't play high school sports but now will be on the varsity football team next year. And practice starts - you guessed it - the week of August 16th. So we contacted our travel agent but the cost of switching cruises was astronomical - over $4300 to switch to the Fantasy in July 2012 and $5300 to switch to a 2012 NYC cruise. :scared1: His coach said that he'd still make the team if he missed the first session of doubles but would have to sit out 2 or 3 games.
DS's response: "Mom and Dad, I'd like to stay home so I can work out with the team."
OMG. So proud of his dedication but...go on vacation without him?? I know I am going to have a much harder time with this than he will (my parents will come spend a week at our house so he won't be alone ... - he isn't happy about that...he asked if we could just leave a credit card number at the local pizza place!!!) So, as of right now, we'll be a party of 3 - me, DH and DD11. But we're not cancelling the second room we got for the kids til the last possible moment... I don't know if I am ready for this adult decision on his part...
