August 16, 2011 – 7 Night Alaska Sailing

restaurant.com has 80% off coupons starting today. The code is SUMMER to get the discount at check out.

For those who are getting a coupon to eat at the top of the space needle in Seattle, the normal cost is $17.50 for the $25 coupon. With the 80% off, you get $3.50 cost for $25.

We use restaurant.com coupons at home in Milwaukee all the time for meals and have never had a problem with them. I highly recommend them, especially if you have some available for favorite restaurants in your own home cities. These are a great deal if you wait for the frequesnt 80% off sales.

Thanks so much! I was also able to get a $50 Restaurant.com gift certificate for $5 which I assume I can also use at Space Needle.

I don't think you can use it directly. You have to trade in the $50 generic for specific restaurant coupons. And the Space Needle doesn't have $50 options, their only option was $25. You can't use more than one certificate, either, at a time.

I'd trade in the $50 to get one $25 Space Needle certificate and then another $25 for some othe restaurant.

Loving all of the hockey fans on this trip!!! We tend to be a rare breed sometimes so this is great! Devils fans here in NJ!

My wife's cousin and her husband have season tickets. Two years ago the schedule aligned when I was visiting Chicago -- the Sharks were in town for a game. They gave us their tickets and my daughter, niece, brother-in-law, and I went to the game at the United Center. My daughter and I were among the very few who enjoyed the outcome as the Sharks won 6-5 :cool1: ... but the Blackhawks got their revenge in the playoffs last year.

So I, too, won't be wearing my NHL apparel until the ship leaves Vancouver.

You will be fine to wear your hockey apearal while you are in Vancouver -- no matter the team. What happened here after game 7 does not represent the majority of those who call Vancouver and surrounding areas home.

hi everyone! i haven't checked in here since this thread started, haha. sorry, been busy!

i just tried to make ressies to palo but there were nothing available. what are the chances dh and i will be able to have dinner there?? he's not happy i wasn't on the ball this time with online ressies :(

also, dd (12) and ds (11) will be joining us on this fab cruise!

they're too old for oceaneer lab but too young for teen club. any suggestions or advice?

tia!!

Mellers - yet another question for you :rolleyes1. So now we are thinking of skipping dinner at the Space Needle and possibly doing the Duck Tour of Seattle and dinner somewhere else while still possibly taking in the ball game. Only having less than a full day in Seattle is making it very hard to make decisions :confused3 We want to see as much as we can in a very short period of time so I thought the Duck Tour might be a good way to accomplish that. Of course we also plan on checking out the Market.
We are still undecided on the game but I was wondering if you have any suggestions for a nice dinner in the downtown area. We are staying at the Mayflower Park. Thanks for any suggestions.

When I checked just now, there are reservations for Palo available for 1-2 people on our cruise, at least on my reservation page! I would suggest you keep checking repeatedly in case something does open up, though I'm not sure why it's showing open for me and not for you. I am still checking 3 times a day for brunch but no luck so far.

But I've heard that they hold quite a few spots for booking on board, so you could likely snag one as long as you get on the ship as early as possible. Where to go to book when you board should be listed in your navigator when you get it.

Will keep my fingers crossed for you!!

i'm confused, my reservation page shows nothing available for tea, brunch or dinner. it'd be for 2 too. :(

maybe it's based on a criteria?

...still refreshing and still showing nothing available.

I'll be honest--downtown isn't my favorite for dinner, but, from the Mayflower park, if you're up for about a mile long, very pretty, walk, you can go over to Pike Place Market, take the elevator down to the waterfront, make a right, and walk over to Anthony's Pier 66. It is, by far, the best seafood restaurant in Seattle, and it has an incredible view of the sound (lunch is cheaper than dinner). If you want to go to the game immediately afterwards, take the waterfront trolley to the International District, and then you can walk or take the light rail to the game. The walk to the restaurant is even shorter from the Space Needle, but you'll want to print out walking directions, because the path to the restaurant is a bit twisty-turny.

Our second-favorite Seattle restaurant is the Old Spaghetti Factory, also an easy walk from the Space Needle.

The Duck Tours are great! I've been on it twice, and my daughter's been on it four times (middle school day camps often have a Duck Tour trip). You will see a lot of Seattle in a short time, and it's a good choice for an excursion. I know they also pick up at Westlake Center now, which is right by the Mayflower Park.

I'm taking Mellerskidlet on a college campus tour of the Oregon Institute of Technology from Monday-Thursday. A 12 hour train ride, followed by 1 night in a hotel and two nights in the dorms, and then a 12 hour train ride home.

You know I love my child.
