So I'm in the process of putting together my FE gifts for each cabin. It looks like our lists are complete, but I've noticed that for one (Mrs Gumdrop) we are missing a cabin # (maybe you are GTY??), and for others, I have names for some of the cabins occupants but not others (especially the kids) or I have just nicknames.

I'd like to personalize my gift for each cabin with either everyone's first name or a family name, but I realize that some people probably want to keep their real names private, especially on a forum such as this.

What is the best way to deal with this? Should I simply send a PM to each person in my group and ask for the information I'd like (how secure is this?) Or send everyone my email address and ask for the info to be sent there (more secure?).

I understand if some people don't want to share the information, but I'd hate to have to label my gift as "To: BoardMember001, DH & DD"

Mellers' family is just as excited--we spent Father's Day making our FE gifts for the adults, DD made the gifts for the teens, and earlier we made our gift for the 10 and unders. We're all set.

I will update the list with anybody's names who wishes to update them. While I am sure Aby's intentions are all the best, safety concerns which have come up in our family keep us from posting our real surname, and I now try to keep even our first names out of public postings.

I will send my name in a PM to everyone on the FE and Day-Before meet list just before we sail, so that I can be contacted before the cruise in Vancouver, but I won't post it to the board. If you are on the FE list and would like my name before that time, please send me a PM (I sent one to Aby), and, if you are a regular poster on the boards, I'll send you my name and my husband's name. DD will introduce herself at the cruise meets and onboard ship, but I don't give her name out electronically due to the aforementioned safety issues.

I have a very good reason for doing this, unfortunately.

What does GTY mean?

I don't know if anyone is interested, but I met a gal on the boards that made a printable and very cute autograph book for her cruise. She was kind enough to change the dates to our cruise dates, and emailed it to me in the latest Microsoft Word format. Her name is Julie Rudinski, and she told me that I was welcome to share this with anyone in our group.

FYI - it prints two pages onto each 8 1/2 x 11 paper and then you cut them out. I plan on printing them on cardstock. If you are interested, PM me your email address and I will forward her original email to me.

What does GTY mean?

Verbiage stolen from the FAQ:
GTY - a GTY cabin is a “guarantee” that you will be booked into at least the category you paid for, possibly put in a higher category, but never a lower category. DCL puts categories in GTY status when they sell a certain percentage of cabins in that category. Think of it as similar to what the airlines do when they oversell seats on a plane, except with a GTY on DCL you WILL BE ON THE CRUISE. You will not be bumped. DCL can keep selling cabins in a category and put them in GTY status as they know a certain percentage of people will cancel and thus they can either upgrade people or keep them in the same category and assign them a cabin number. Cabin number assignments usually happen about 45-30 days before your cruise but can happen anytime. Being on GTY status does not mean you get a horrible cabin or in a less desirable location. It is simply a tool DCL uses to keep selling cabins in a category knowing they may be moving people around as their inventory demands. DCL does not give you the option of either a GTY or cabin assignment. If a cabin is available to be assigned when you book you will be assigned a cabin. You may pick what cabin you want as long as it is available in that category when you book. The only exception to this is the current Cat 12’s (which have been reclassified as 11C's for 2011 and beyond). These are only sold in GTY status as there are only 13 of them onboard and they are used to drive sales. They will keep selling the Cat 12’s and upgrading along the way to entice people to book at the lowest price point.
