August 16 2009 4 night Wonder, Cruise-O-Maniac

WooHoo, just booked Treehouse Villas for the 11th through embarkation day, and AKV Kidani, for when we get off the ship to that Saturday. NOW I am getting excited! :woohoo:

Last night my sister booked through her favorite travel agent...ME...:thumbsup2 So there will be a total of 10 of us cruising together...

She was having a tough time deciding to go or not. As I said, last year we were supposed to go with dad, but he got sick and ultimately passed away in September, and we have all been having such a tough time with his loss, but I finally convinced her the same reasons to do this together now, still exist. Time together away from everything. Life is so unpredictable, gotta take advantage of every day for everything that day has to offer!

Thats awesome Rick I'm glad she decide to go I bet this trip will go a long way in that healing!

How fun! I'm glad she decided to join your family. I am sure that you will all have a great time. Just a thought, but maybe you could do something special in your dad's name while on the cruise? No doubt, he would want you all to have fun and celebrate your togetherness.

Is go to the straw market in Nassau. I know I can't believe it either :confused3 since we've been there 2x already. We were going to stay on the ship this time and just swim with the girls but I think we might get off and do just this. I shop in Chinatown in NYC so I don't mind the hagglers etc... I'm use to it BUT has anyone done it? My concern is how to get there is it in walking distance of the port? I know it's a tight squeeze but will a stroller fit through the market? I know Maxine would love to get a beautiful doll or just a unique piece to bring back with her. I'm thinking if Dan doesn't want to go we Max and I and maybe my aunt might get off for an hour and go. Any info if you've been is appreciated.

You no longer need a passport to Cruise. Dan and I both have them but now I have to think about if I'm going to get them for the girls or not. All you need is the original B-certificate with the raised seal again like you used to. HOWEVER, this is only for sailing not for flying so if for some freak reason we had to fly home from the Bahamas we'd be SOL. What would you do?

My only experience with it was about 5 minutes. We walked in the front, and out the back, never to return again. I have done Tijuana (haggle capital of the world), but never anything like this. Not my cup of tea, but then there were allot of people there, so I suppose there is some interest.

It is walking distance. It's almost right across the street from the port.

I'm with you on the SOL, and you know what Murphys Law is...I wouldn't chance it...

Well we have had a change in plans. Instead of this 4 night we have changed to a 7 night WC in Jan. Unfortunately I will have to leave this meet and jump over to the Jan one. I was really looking forward to meeting some of you!

Enjoy your 7 night, Traci! I am hopeful that after we try this 4 night cruise we will want a 7 night soon!

Plan to book on your 4 day.LOL We didn't know we could and called our TA 2 days after we got back to book again.

Hi everyone! I agree, I wouldn't chance it. We debated the same thing. With our luck, something would happen and we'd be stuck. We took the kids (7 and 5) to get their passport pictures over the weekend (they were pretty funny - my son is missing his two front teeth and my dauther thought it was time to model). We're off to the post office on Thursday. They're so excited to get their own passports!

Hi Guys

I'm going have to bow out of the cruise thread as we've moved our cruise to August 2010. I got a 40% pin offer from Disney and that, combined with having to use our BLT developer points at Saratoga means that I couldn't fit it all in. We're now staying at SSR when we should have been on the cruise and spending our last 5 nights at the Grand Floridian.

Sorry I won't get to meet you all and to Mandy - I'm sorry I won't get to share one or two of these with you

1/2 oz white rum
1/2 oz Meyers rum
1/2 oz creme de banana
1/2 oz malibu rum
2 oz orange juice
2 oz pineapple juice
dash of grenadine

Jakki, I'm so sorry that you've cancelled your Cruise. I hope we either run into each other in WDW or get to Cruise with each other another time :)

Okay, can someone advise? Are the glasses in this picture available for sale on the cruise?

I'm not sure if you can buy them on their own, but you can buy drinks in the souvenir glasses on top deck. We usually get some when we board and have our first Bahama Mama by the Goofy Pool :)

Cool!! The glasses are nice and I'm sure even better filled with a yummy drink!

We'll meet you at the Goofy Pool :)

They come in different colours too and I had to get one of each colour for DD :rolleyes1

Don't forget to have that first one for me :drinking:

I have these glasses in the plastic form. When you board and go on deck they will be selling drinks and when you buy the drink you also have purchased the glass. We love them in the summer time out on our deck!

Turns out hubby has a mandatory conventions 2 day's after we cast off that he cannot get out of per his boss. I'm sorry I won't be at the meet up but we are already looking to book for 2010 instead and just changing our deposit over. Have fun and maybe someday we will meet. C ya!

O' sad yes be we just extended out Disney trip instead so not so sad.
