August 13, 2011 Med - Mickey's Marauding Mates

Annie,
There's still tix available on Tuesday for 10:30 a.m., lunchtime (1 and 1:30 pm) and evening/night (7:30, 8, 9:30 and later). We're doing the evening slot so that we can see the view in daylight and when the sun sets, though I wanted to go for the lunchtime slot.

Annie,

I just logged on to tell you that the Eiffel Tower website still has tix available to the 2nd level. Not sure if the availability matches your schedule though. You might want to check the times; otherwise, the tour operator sounds like a great solution.

:rotfl: I am such a DOPE!! I didn't even check for that option 'cuz DH said he wanted to go all the way up to the top. Now I've already gone & emailed Guillaume back and told him to sign us up!!:sad2: DOH!! Could I be any more stooopid?? Oh well. They still don't have my 2:30 time that I wanted. I suppose we could've done the evening one at 19:30 and then see it at night.:rolleyes1

Can you point out any other dumb things that I've done with my trip planning?? :rotfl:

So you're going on Tuesday? I considered that evening time too for Wed... So many choices, so little time!! :rotfl: We will be making our move from Disneyland to our hotel in the city around 7:00 on Tuesday.

Annie, thought you would like to read this disney food blog about Disneyland Paris snacks:

everything will work out the way it should! I've already resigned myself to not being able to do everything we want to. I figure I'd rather go home hoping to go back someday....

Lee Ann, Little friendly disboard advice...NO MORE PLANNING!!:rotfl2:By now it is what it is and just go with it! Half of my plans NEVER happen anyway! Start relaxing now!!!!:wizard:

Too bad, we could've done a mini meet n' greet at the Eiffel Tower! Yes, we're going that Tuesday and I just made a reservation at the 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant on the 1st level which should be cool (and touristy). They have reservations available at 6:30 pm and 9 pm (sunset). If you have a restaurant reservation, you can get tix to the 1st or 2nd level thru the restaurant kiosk which puts you ahead of the line. Looks like you might get a discount on the tix, but it's a little unclear. The restaurant has gotten mixed reviews (as all restaurants do). A little pricey, but...how often will I be dining at the Eiffel Tower?!?

Thanks! I will definitely check it out!! :thumbsup2 You KNOW.....I went to Paris with my HS french class when I was a senior - alllll the way back in 1979!! At the time we alllll said we would go back! So it's taken me 32 years to plan for it. (And I think I'm the only one probably of my group to accomplish it so far.) Another 32 years and I will be 82. Me thinks it's not as likely to happen again!! :rotfl:

OK, OK, OK...but just one more thing!! LOOK - here's basically a HOHO BOAT in Paris!! :rolleyes1 And it looks reasonable!! It hits some of the things on our list. Hummmmm!!! I wanted to do a river cruise anyway...but I was hoping to go at dusk. But this would be unlimited access so I suppose we could go again?! Thoughts anyone??? :rotfl:

Oh I am jealous!! That would've been nice. I considered it for lunch but since it's first come first served I didn't plan for it. Their dinner prices were WAAY out of our budget. Didn't it start at like around 60 or 65 euro pp? Just one meal would break my budget for all 3 of us for 2 meals!!:rotfl: I also thought it might not be so good for kids (it looked romantic-ish). Anxious to hear how it is.:goodvibes So are you eating FIRST or after your trip up??

Speaking of euros (gasp!), I think I am going to go "cheap" and only do a nice lunch one time on an Italy excursion. Other times we're just gonna grab a sandwich or whatever there is fast. Cause this euro rate is killing me~! I mean lunch is like 30 euro EACH!! That's like $80.00 lunch!!:sad1:

The boat ride looks great, except I get sea sick so while my meds should be fine for the BIG CRUISLINE BOAT, not so sure about those boats!

Tomorrow is the big day for us. Still consumed with the last minute stuff - it doesn't help that some of my dormant clients woke up late last week. But I think I am done with all the new projects now. DW is working late today - she has a once a month meeting that she runs and which begins at 5:30 p.m. so of course we decided to plan to fly to Greece the next morning. :lmao: Smart, aren't we? And to top it all off, I woke up yesterday with the beginnings of a cold. Head is pretty fuzzy now with cold symptoms to boot. It's all about the timing. But in 48 hours, when I am sunning myself on a Greek Island beach, I think I'll forget all of the above.

I'll try to sign on here and there from Greece and say hello. Looking forward to meeting all of you in the Promenade Lounge!

I know, right?! I am going to try everything I can to keep our lunches to somewhere between 10-15 euro pp just so we can try to stay under $70 for the 3 of us. I am even going to keep the idea open of returning to the ship for lunch in Villefranche. I think we can have a nice leisurely breakfast in Lumiere's that morning then spend the morning in Monaco for 3 or 4 hours. Then we can return to Villefranche, depending how long the tender takes go back to the ship for lunch then change & go to the beach there for the afternoon. That is probably the only port we can do that in. I bought some crackers, trail mix & protein bars to bring but I have to see if we have room in the luggage to bring them!:rolleyes1

I think these are probably very short little hops that only take a few minutes each. No time to get sea sick!!

I'm sorry to hear about the cold! :scared1: What rotten timing!! Be sure to take an assortment of cold meds with you!! I SWEAR by these Zinc things: http://coldeeze.com/ You can get them at Target & Wal-Mart & most grocery stores. I never travel anywhere without throwing a box in my bag as a "what if". If you take 5 or 6 of these a day for 2 days at the beginning of a cold they really do help the severity & duration. Promise!! Cross my heart!! It would be worth squeezing a trip in to Target this afternoon!! Hope you feel better soon!!

Meanwhile, HAVE A FABULOUS TIME in Greece!! I have my fingers crossed for your flights to be uneventful!!! Guess we will see you in the Promenade Lounge around 2:30 or 3:00 on the 13th!!:thumbsup2

What is with these summer colds??? DD came home from camp all stuffy and I am on the tail end of a cold too. Hope the boys don't get anything. Better now then next week right?

OK, please remind me of the time for our meetup in the Promenade Lounge. (I know I'm being lazy by not searching the thread.)

Off to see Harry Potter in IMAX 3D with DD. DS is going to another sleepover tonight- 2nd in a row. DH is off to Dallas. Staying at the Mansion at Turtle Creek. Why do spouses never get invited??? But we will have plenty of family time soon.

Wow! Lots of us are going to have some pre-cruise vacation experiences to discuss once we're on the ship. Have fun in Greece! I've always wanted to go there. Perhaps my next cruise...

I'm afraid I might be joining the pre-cruise cold club. I've had an earache for two days - hoping it's just allergies, but getting it checked tomorrow just in case. Better sick now than on the trip, right?

Packing is coming along. I also dislike this last minute stuff, but it will be worth it once we're sunning ourselves! :cool2:

DD (5) is looking forward to meeting the other kids. The meet (I think) is at 2:30 in the Promenade Lounge.

DIS meet will be between 2:30 - 3:00 in the Promenade Lounge. It will be quick & painless as we have the Muster Drill at 4:00 I believe.

Hope you enjoyed Harry... I wonder what the movies are on the Med cruises? Perhaps I should start yet another thread?! :rotfl:

I am getting really nervous about our weight / space. I have DH & myself pretty much rounded up and just started on DS's piles this afternoon. The carry-ons are pretty much together...but I haven't touched ANY of the MISC. stuff like the umbrellas & ponchos & extension cords & voltage converter thingys & toiletries yet...or my Captain Morgan!! :rotfl: I fear I may be pushing our limits with space (even more than with weight). The garment bag may not be my answer as I may need the space of a regular suitcase. My MIL is taking DS downtown on Thurs. to the Spy Museum so TOMORROW I need to clean up a little bit around the house before she comes over and not focus on the packing so much.:rolleyes1
