August 13, 2011 Med - Mickey's Marauding Mates

Cheryl - really sorry to hear that. We were quarantined by Qantas for only three days when our eldest DD contracted chicken pox, so if its a mild case you may get the all clear on Friday. Here's hoping pixiedust:

Kim - ever since DW took a look at this thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2281626&page=29 I've been busy with the printer trying to meet her expectations ;)

Jon

I just checked the Navigators. Are we no longer docking in Villefranche-sur-Mer in France???? Are we docking in Cannes??? I did all my research on taking the train to Monaco from Villefranche. Am I misreading the Navigators???

We're flying from manchester 8am monarch. Where Are you flying from? How does tipping work? Our gratuities for dinners I think have been paid, but what else do we need to tip? And what other charges on board is their?? Thanks!! X

For some reason (I'm sure someone will know why) the first 7 day cruise stopped at Cannes, the rest including ours go to Villefranche so don't worry, your planning (and ours!) should be ok.

Hi Kim we're flying from heathrow 7.10 with British airways. I'm not an expert in tipping but I understand you tip the people that service your room, your dinner service staff etc. and all of those you can add to your bill - not sure how that works with your trip. Then you tip cash for room service - that's how I think it works anyway!
:confused3

I hope you're right Jon, everything I've read seems to suggest 5-6 days which makes it borderline! Today she doesn't look too bad so I'm hoping she doesn't get many more tomorrow!

Wishing speedy recovery for your DD and hope you stay healthy.

WHEW!

I just breathed a huge sigh of relief. :cool1:

I rang make a wish today re the baggage and ground staff at Barcelona strike on 18th.... The strike lasts 48hours, so the 20th our return flightndate is going to be effected. But make a wish said they knew nothing of it an checked the travel agents too?? Soooo anyone know are they striking or not? Online I found it via google. I just need to know as poppy is fed intravenously so I'd have to make sure we werent gonna get stuck or she'll dehydrate. Eeeek! Panicing a bit!

How's the pox?? X

Hi Kim hopefully the reports are correct and the strike has been called off. Lauren has lots more spots today, we'll just have to see how quickly she scabs over! Keeping everything crossed.

Just a quick hi from Paris...no time now to chat...too late...having a great time...Cheryl hope the pox clear up...will try to check back in tomorrow...nite!

Good to hear from you, Annie, and glad you are having fun!

Cumbley, i am so sorry to hear about the increase in spots. Have you called Disney Cruise Line to ask them what is acceptable?

Jeff, slacking in the picture department hun.

I have one more day of work, then I'll do laundry and toss it in a suitcase and fly out on Thursday afternoon. Annie would disown me if she saw how lackadaisical I am. Just have to calm DD down, she's freaked out about how far away their cabin is. Not that she plans on spending ANY time with us (showing her the Navigators was a bad, bad, idea! She saw "masquerade ball" for the Vibe kids and is now trying to find a way to bring a ball gown.)

We're packed! We only leave on Friday, but we needed to be sure everything could fit into our two bags. It does! :cool1::cool1:

NOW we find out that LH has changed their free baggage allowances
It used to be as many bags as you like as long as the maximum weight per person didn't exceed 20kg, and no single bag exceeded 32kg
So we usually packed 2 bags of ~25-30kg each for the 4 of us (ie: well within our shared weight limit of 80kg).

According to the person we spoke to today at LH, the rule is now that each person gets a 23kg allowance, but that no bag exceeding 23kgs will be accepted ... *sigh*
So we need to repack into MORE bags - stupid!

I think I'm going to try and pack everything this afternoon just to make sure it fits and I'm not panicking tomorrow.

Sounds like a good plan! I packed everything onto our bed... and then had to pack into the suitcases since we couldn't go to bed otherwise. :rotfl:
I think we have way too much - but it fits!

So sorry to hear about the chicken pox! Hoping you get the all clear.

We're packed and leaving for our three hour drive to my parents' house. They live near the Toronto airport and will be dropping us off for our flight tomorrow. I'm super excited that this vacation is really happening and I'm going to finally see Europe, but I'm going to miss DS(2) terribly. :sad1: He will be having a blast with my family and all of his many cousins, but we're going to miss him. This is a special trip for DD(5) and we'll have terrific memories from this time with her.

On a completely different topic, I noticed that someone (is it Luke?) from our group is from Liverpool. What's going on with the riots? My parents are going to Liverpool to visit family soon and it's so sad what is happening there right now.

Yep that's me :)
In all honesty, Liverpool seems to not be quite as bad as London and Birmingham were earlier this week, and Manchester was last night. Small pockets of trouble in the south of the city (I live in the north) but seems to have been handled well. The rain is horrible hear today, and I'm hoping it stays raining as it will certainly lessen any chance of more problems :)

:goodvibes
