August 13, 2011 Med - Mickey's Marauding Mates

Hi have just put some photos on Facebook of DLP if you want to take a look, not sure how to put photos on here so if any other peeps want to have a look just request me as a friend using my full name on FB

I SAW! I SAW!! What a cutie pie you have there!! The Buzz costume was cute but I reallllly liked seeing him dressed as Woody!!! :goodvibes Looks like you had great weather - was it really warm enough to ditch the coats & wear T-shirts?! It realllly has to be warm for me to do that!!! It is cold here again. The blooms on my Magnolia tree turned all brown. :sad1:

My wife's family is from a Greek island. We are going there for a week (first time for me and the kids) before heading to Athens for 2 nights for sighteeing, then on to Barcelona and the cruise. Starting to get pretty excited now that almost all the elements are in place!

That just SOUNDS so exotic!! "My wife's family is from a Greek island". Love it!!! I'm sure you will have a BLAST there!!!

I haven't gotten much done today. DS had swim practice this morning of course (Jeff - they did "Fly 'till you die"!! He did 1,000 yds of Butterfly! :rotfl:). But since we got back from practice I've just been puttering around. I have a headache so I'd really just like to go back to bed. We have a neighbor with a verrrry sick kid (she has been in Duke University Hospital in North Carolina since Sept.) Bone marrow transplant, chemo - you name it - she just turned 8 in Feb. & is on 27 different meds! Very sad. She has what the "Boy in the Bubble" had - "severe aplastic anemia". Anyway, we (our neighbors) all take turns cooking for the Dad & the other 2 kids a couple of nights a week 'cuz the Mom is in NC and tonight is my night. Grilling a tri tip roast on the grill (first time to grill this year ) and making cheesy potatoes & green bean casserole...with strawberries dipped in chocolate for dessert. So I need to go futz around in the kitchen for awhile. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!!

Annie I think it is wonderful that you all help out the neighbours like that - what a horrible situation for them to have.

Joanne - I must be typing your name in wrong on Facebook as I can't seem to find you.

So much going on at the moment it is hard to think about the cruise. I need to concentrate!

Also Jeff - Your trip sounds great. I will look forward to hearing about the Greece part. I would like to take a cruise round the Greek Islands sometime.

Hey everybody... Update from us... Still not officially booked, but are 100% in planning mode for this cruise. Just waiting on fun things like leave requests, and construction schedules to be be finalized before we can make it official!

I hope you all don't mind a stowaway on your thread until I can get my hands on a ticket!

There's a bunch of us that take turns - we use a website called Food Tidings to schedule a month at a time. The Dad also travels a lot with his job & is gone for days & days at a time - that's one reason we started this meal program. They have a 21 yr old cousin that comes & spends the night with the other 2 kids when the Dad has to travel. They're 15 & 17 I think. A little older but still shouldn't be left alone all the time. The news about the little girl is NOT GOOD. Honestly, and sadly don't think she will ever get to come home. It has been 7 months since her transplant and she just has SOOO much wrong. Every week there is something else. Last week she had swelling on the brain and they had to do a spinal tap. :sad2: Now they are trying an experimental drug this week that hasn't been approved for use yet by our FDA. But it's apparently all they have left to try.:guilty:

JP - You can stowaway ALL YOU WANT!! You just must get this booked before they sell out or raise the prices or something!! I'm sure you must have a lot of red tape to go thru tho to get vaca approved there?! I hope they hurry!! Meanwhile please do come chat sometimes!!! The more the merrier!!!

Hey Mikki - any more thoughts about Naples?! I emailed romeinlimo and they sent me a form to fill out to pre-pay so I've filled that in and am going to return it later today I think... Is Andrew not sure that's what he wants to do there or is he hesitant about being stuck with strangers all day?! :)

More talking to myself out loud...I forget which thread it is that I've been following but it's made me start to re-think which dining rotation we might want to request and what I want to do about going to Palo. I like Lumiere's the MOST and Parrot Cay the LEAST but am unsure yet if we shall do Palo brunch or Palo dinner. If we request the rotation that goes to PC 3x then we could just schedule Palo dinner on like night 4 and we won't miss formal night which would be in Lumiere's or semi-formal night in Animators and we won't have to eat in PC more than 2x. If we do dinner I can just re-wear 1 of my 2 dresses that I'm bringing. I really wanted to try brunch but only having 1 sea day makes me think I would regret spending my morning eating rather than relaxing by the pool.:confused3 Of course if we request this rotation but don't GET it then we'd be messed up a little. Night 4 is Rome... We could eat around our usual time 8-8:30...

Don't know what the odds are of getting a requested rotation...:confused3 Have any of our veteran peeps (Jeff & JP) ever requested a certain rotation before? If so what success did you have with that plan?! :confused3

Hi Guys have you seen the news about missing British worker
Los Angeles (CNN) -- The parents of a British woman who went missing while working on a Disney cruise last Tuesday were waiting at the dock Sunday morning when the ship returned to the Port of Los Angeles.

Rebecca Coriam, 24, disappeared Tuesday as the Disney Wonder sailed off Mexico's Pacific coast on the third day of the weeklong cruise, a Disney spokeswoman said.

"We just don't know what happened to her, do we?" her mother, Ann Coriam, told KABC-TV Sunday. "That's the worst. Nobody seems to know. We've got to find out."

Disney Cruise Line, in a written statement Sunday, said it was "doing everything possible" to find Coriam, who was worked in the ship's youth program, "including conducting multiple shipboard searches, the latest one as recently as Saturday."

Yes, it's really tragic. I've been following the thread here on the DIS here & there about it. Really odd that they don't seem to have a clue about it. I hope they figure out what happened soon.

we have never requested a rotation - we always request a server so we just let the chips fall where they may because we have some fave servers on the Magic and (now) the Dream.

Annie, I said to Andrew that we weren't likely to be in that area again so it would be nice to see some of the scenery that is supposed to be so pretty. He is willing to indulge me - he won't be able to see much as he has extremely poor eyesight (registered blind in the UK) but I will take lots of pictures that he can look at later if he wants. So how do we go about this? Do we each send money to them or do we pay you in Euros on the boat or send you dollars now?

I'm currently thinking of trying for Palo on the Rome day too.

We had a wonderful serving team on our Magic cruise in 2005 and when we did our B2B's on the Wonder in 2008 we had a good team on our 4 night but the ones we had on our 3 night were simply awful. I can only remember the names for our Magic team (Ivan and Martha). Guess we'll just hope for a good team this summer. I think Ivan might still be around but he's moved to the Dream.

I'm sorry to hear that Andrew has problems with his eyesight. How terrible for both of you. That is sweet that he agreed for you. Hopefully he can enjoy Pompeii?! I think that there may be a lot of walking there. Will he be able to get around for a walking tour through there? The tour description says we will spend most of the morning there before they head to the coast. I think the additional guide we hired will narrate what is what as we walk through it so we can know what we're seeing. Want to be sure he'll be OK for that bit. Just let me know if you're still "in". Then I will let the romeinlimo place know we'll have more people and that we'll need a larger vehicle. If you join us I would guess that the easiest way to handle the money is for me to just put everything on our credit card like I was going to do anyway and then you can pay us in Euro when we meet up for the cruise. We will need to have some Euros anyway so that will just save me having to get some money exchanged.

I'm currently thinking of trying for Palo on the Rome day too.

I sure hope all the other peeps are getting some spring like weather 'cuz we ARE NOT!! It is cold, gray & miserable here. The cold ruined my magnolia blooms and the deer ate off my tulips. I am ready for summer!!!

Evening all - it's been unseasonably warm in the North East, even managed to take the kids to the beach on Sunday :) However the forecast for this week is back to wet and windy :(

Hello All, Sorry I've been MIA. We have a couple of trips before our cruise and I've been working on them. We are headed to the States :banana::banana: in June. Hopefully it will include a trip to Florida to see the last shuttle launch. :sad1::sad1: Might include a day or two to WDW.

I've also recruited two friends that live in Beijing to come on our cruise.:yay: Just need to get them to join the Mickey's Marauding Mates.

Still cold and snowing here in Moscow.

We had bad servers on our 3 night cruise too - such a relief to go to Palo on the 3rd night.

Andrew can cope with walking (usually arm in arm with me for guidance) but can be a little slow. He is looking forward to Pompeii as somewhere he would like to visit. Not sure he would be up to climbing the volcano but Pompeii should work. However maybe the question should be whether you think we might slow you down too much and you would prefer not to go together? I should have mentioned Andrew's eyesight before but we are so used to it and he copes so well we often don't mention it.
