Hi all -

Went to DL yesterday, where I can safely report it is hot and crowded, but fun.

Unfortunately, the black-and-gold-glitter mickey balls I'd planned to buy for our bags were more than I remembered ... soo, I got little gold & silver rubber wristbands - y'know, the ones everyone wears now, inspired by Lance Armstrong's "Live Strong" ones? These say "Disneyland Resort's Golden 50th Anniversary" - it seemed timely.

We're going with Randi's Happy Horses in Mazatlan, but I think I might cancel our other excursions and just play it by ear - we sometimes do better with fewer plans. I've heard that the resorts are pretty accessible even without a lot of planning.

My DS7 has been trying on his tuxedo happily, but my DD3 says she doesn't want to dress up!

See you all soon,
Kasey

We are getting ready.

Only 7 more days of work.

Only 11 days until we are on board.

Only a 7 hour drive from San Bruno.

I think it might be kind of hard to sleep the night before. This trip has been along time in the planning stages and now only about a week and a half left. Got to start thinking about the next trip with and without the kids.

My son can't wait to eat at the sit down dinners. Last year on our Carnival cruise one of the things he really enjoyed was ordering the appitizers, soup, main meal and desert every night. He even ate escargo. He asked will they have that again. He also wants his own lobster for lobster night. I think it is on Sunday night? Does anyone know if this is correct?

Randall - on our last cruise DS discovered this baby shrimp appetizer. He liked it so much our servers brought him a plate with 2 huge scoops. I know DS will be up at 4:00 a.m.

We leave to DL in 7 days! DS is driving me crazy. He wants to do everything at DL in a day and 1/2. I keep telling him he has to decide what absolutely needs to be done and work from there.

I'm starting to second guess myself with what clothes to bring. I was planning on a jogging type jacket for the first night but now I'm leaning toward a sweatshirt in case it's cold in the stateroom (I can sleep in it).

Kasey - it's usually the other way around - the girls like to dress up and the boys don't. I told DS he needs to wear his suit because his 2 cousins will be all dressed up.

i read somewhere that lobster night was on thursday. i could be wrong...

packing...am done w/DSs!!!! yay!! now i'm working on me. have mostly shorts & tanks, along w/some skirts, capris, and some nice tops. i take some out, and decide against it, and think of something else! good thing DH is not home to witness my "crazy-ness"!!! just can't wait till all this packing is done, so i don't have to think about it!

jackets...everyone has a windbreaker type jacket...except me! have been looking around, but didn't find any i liked...so i've decided to bring a jean jacket i just bought recently at target! (someone mentioned target on earlier post...i love target!!!!!) anyways, it was only $20!!!!!!!! that was sweet! i would match everything i'm planning on packing! so it works out great!!

eating appetizer/entree/dessert...that's funny, our DS6 loves that too! when we go out to eat, we don't go "all out" and do the 4 course (or 6 or 8 or how many ever...) meals...but of course, we did on the cruise, and DS6 (who was 4 at the time) loved it, and he says he can't wait to order appetizer & entree again! in his mind, i think he thinks he gets to order 2 things to eat!

11 more days!

Hi Kasey - I think those wrist bands are a great idea!! We have them for everything - Livestrong, purple cancer one, U2's white one for the G8 LiveAid, blue for MS, pink for breast cancer - so it'll be great to add a black/gold one!!!
oh - i can't wait to see your little guy in his tuxedo!!!! how handsome he will be - and i bet DD will change her mind once she sees you both getting dressed up!!! I wanted to get Ryan a tux, but he needed a jacket for high school anyway - so we went with that instead - figured he could wear with a tie for formal night, and with or w/o tie for semi - i'll leave that up to him!

What excursion do you have in PV?

oops!! a big OOPS!!!!! don't know what i was thinking! or maybe wasn't!!

my thoughts exactly, about buying! i was just talking to DH last night, commenting on whether i've packed enough or not for the kids, and thinking of myself as well. and out loud, i just said..."oh, if not, we can always just buy it!"

i know what you mean about having to wear whatever is left! thank goodness we don't have much "plans" in the next week and a half! so we can just lounge in "leftover clothes"!! :flower:

i'm already so excited that it's only 10 days away that i can barely sleep at nights now - and i get up at 2:50 am as it is!!! I won't sleep at all that friday night - will want to get to San Jose as early as i can persuade DH to take us!!!

Well DS & I do not do seafood - so you guys are all welcome to our 'share' of lobsters!!!

Has it really been 14 months since we booked this trip???? WOW!

I just got my new bathing suite from LL Bean. Now should I try it out up at the pool today (supposed to be 95) or christen it on the cruise?

I think we finally got a decent touring plan for DL from RideMax. It gives us lots of time walking from attraction to attraction (for the grandma's) and a big break in the afternoon for lunch and to see the parade.

10 Days 8 Hrs 44 Mins 59 Secs

i vote for "christen it on the cruise"! that means i have quite a few items to
"christen"!! hee hee...

what is ridemax? is that a tour w/in dl? thanx! :flower:

Am I the only one whose kids dont eat? Mine went on a cruise last year and dinner was so boring for them. We ended up leaving before dessert a few nights and I stuck them in the club once too. All they wanted was their plain pasta, or hot dog and they wanted out of there. They dont mind dressing up though.

Is it cold enough for jackets? I think Ill bring one now.

And yes, I believe Thursday is Lobster night, at least I hope so. Thats the menu I want to miss to go to Palo. ;)

When does everyone else leave? I go early Tuesday morning...VERY early. We leave here for the airport at about 4:00am, for our 6:30 flight. I'm off the wall!

oh i'm SOOOO envious you get to leave on TUESDAY!!! I sure didn't plan this right - but booked our flights before i even knew this board existed :sad2:
oh well - i'll be back at DL in Dec....and i also was thinking how cool it would be to have Disney people picking us from airport and taking us right to the port. So much for 'cool' - i'm missing out on DL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i get cold easy! and i think it's kinda chilly in the restaurants...for me anyways. at nights here, it gets a bit chilly, if you're out. and so i'm assuming it'll be chilly out on deck. i really didn't want to bring it, but it's my "just in case" thinking!

wow, that's early!! how long is your flight? we are getting dropped off at port around 10:30. (at least, that's the plan, so far.) my brother is taking us... :flower:

I think we booked the Land's End cruise and the Cabo beach Break. I'm torn - they sound really fun, and my kids are good about sticking to a plan, but I just wonder whether more flexibility might be better. Anyone else doing these?

And yes, the tuxedo, what a hoot - I was planning to skip the whole formal thing, but he insisted. I got him a Mickey & friends colored vest to go with it ...

I'm the same way...always cold. Jackets are a good idea! :)

Its supposed to be 6:30-9:45, but with the 3 hour time change that makes it over 6 hours. I have been watching the flight once in a while and the good news is its usually about 1/2 hour early, so Id say its about 6 hours, less with any luck. This is the longest flight Ive taken so it should be interesting. ;)

Camcolt,

You are certainly not the only one!

My DS 6 and DS 3 could care less about food - even sweets or ice cream or chocolate!! It's like pulling teeth to get them to eat more than six bites at any meal ever!

The baby girl, however, who just started on bananas and cheerios - she eats everything! :earsboy:

On our Carinival trip last year, my daughter ate bread and ice cream most nights. Pasta, pizza and sometime a hot dog. Hoping for better eating this time. But oh well. At least she eats the ice cream ever night and even during the day.

Nancy, remember that fast pass does not expire. You can use it anytime that day after the return time. This should help in getting you on more of the top rides.

Last year when we went to Magic Kingdom in WDW we only rode the rides that we didn't have in Disneyland. We did WDW in 1 1/2 days. I think it might be time to return to WDW next year and spend more time there.

We actually have a brick with our names on it right next to the monorail station retun entrance on the Magic Kingdom side. We also have a brick at Disneyland with the 50 anniversay logo on it near the middle of the Disneyland main entrance. Have not seen it yet. Something to look for on our next trip to Disneyland.

RideMax is a program that gives you the times to go on the rides for optimum amount. I said we would be arriving around 8:05 on Friday - they are projecting 2 min wait for Star Tours, 6 min for Buzz, 8 min Autopia.... It also tells you when to pick up fast passes and knows when your approximate return time should be. The longest wait we have is 31 min for Matterhorn, everything else is 15 min or less.
