Aug 27, 2012 Seattle to Skagway Sailing

I think that means we are! Last time I used her when I was in Alaska there was only one plane and I've never read of there being another pilot. There are two of us so we just might have the whole tour booked, lol.

Awesome!!! We are really looking forward to this.

What time of year are the crab boats docked in Seattle? We are coming to Seattle a few days early so we can be tourists, and my hubby's one wish is to see the Deadliest Catch boats at their dock. I told him not to get his hopes up... please tell me that they will be there in late August. Otherwise I'm going to have to buy the "Crabby" boat from Cars 2 and tell him that's as close as he's getting to a crab boat (the excursion is out of our budget unfortunately :sad1:).

You may be in luck. I don't think they head out until middle of September at the earliest. The king season starts mid October. Of course it depends on what commitments they might have. But the big boats you're most likely going to see here are the Northwestern and the Wizard.

YEY!! Thank you so much Luv_Tink. Hubby will be very happy :).

Here's some information on Fisherman's Terminal in Seattle for thos wanting to check out the fleet and the memorial to all those we've lost.

When we get closer to our cruise date, I'll try to make a trip down to the docks and see what boats might be around. You also have to remember that not all the local Deadliest Catch boats dock at Fisherman's Terminal all the time. The could be in for repairs and maintenance or docked somewhere else entirely.

Hi Everyone! Got some great last minute news, and we'll be able to join. It's myself, my husband, and our son (4 and a half- the half is very important to him!) We'd love to join the FE group too.

Since this is a little last minute, I'm a little anxious about combing through the excursions and getting everything worked out, but it'll just make the time fly faster right?

Welcome!! :) That half is definitely important! My gal turned 5 in february and is VERY upset not to have that "half" anymore. LOL :)

Don't forget to add your name to the google spreadsheet for our cruise and join the facebook group :)

Hi One and All~

My mother, son (age 13) and I will be on this cruise. I just cant wait!! This is my 4th cruise - second time on the Wonder. We will be flying in from New York the day of the cruise. Wish we had more time in Seattle - haven't been to Washington in a long time - I think my son would have loved to explore the city. I have already posted my information on the spreadsheet and would love to participate in the FE.:dance3:. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Ha ha! I wonder if crabby would soothe my own disappointments about this being out of our budget also! :rotfl2:

Hi everyone! My mother (Mary probably doesn't want me to mention age) and I (Fran, 36) will also be sailing with you! This is our 2nd DCL trip together, last time 2007. So it's been a while. Very excited. We are coming from different cities, but meeting in Chicago and flying to SEA together the day before. I can tell you that prices have greatly increased since I booked, but I did not find good deals on airfare.
We will be doing mostly wildlife excursions because we enjoy that type of thing. We have booked Palo for our Victoria day. This trip is a birthday present to myself, though bday is actually debarkation day. That's not that great of a present.
I did an FE exchange on our last cruise, so I already have my fish extender packed.
See everyone soon!
Fran

Welcome gotomu212, Doodles811, & chkdrumr! Earlier in the thread there are pointers to a google spreadsheet (A roster of sorts... and also where you sign up for the FE if you are interested). There is also a link to the facebook page. Hoping to get to know ya'll :)

Hi, all!

My family will be on this cruise, too. It'll be me (Brad) along with my wife Kathy and two sons: Charlie, 7, and Henry, 11. This will be our first cruise (DCL or otherwise). We live right in Seattle and considered heading up for one of the Vancouver departures last year. When they announced the Seattle cruises for 2012, we jumped. Looking forward to cruising!

Welcome to the newest cruisers!! I am sure that everyone is as bouncy as I am waiting for this cruise. I even started packing. Yes, I am THAT excited! (Plus it helps that I live in FL, so none of those warm Alaska clothes I can wear right now anyway!).

Let the days fly by... my insulated cocoa mugs are packed and ready to go!

And David... look, we can ease our sorrows for only ten bucks!! For some reason, I think Crabby is going to sink if I put him in the Goofy pool...

Welcome everyone!! I'm so excited that our group is growing!

Have any of you been to Butchart Gardens? We have Palo booked for the last night but I'm wondering if it is worth it to get off the ship and tour them.

I considered this as well, but thought it was such a late port day, that it would be easier to stay onboard. I know the last time we sailed, it was difficult (for my mom especially) to get all of our stuff packed an out the door. I just thought an evening port excursion would make it that much harder. PLus, even though it's not my birthday until midnight, that will be the day I'm celebrating. Paolo just seemed the right way to do it. I've been craving that food since we got off our last trip 5 years ago.

You have some good points Fran. We moved our Palo time to the first seating at 6:00 p.m. so if we have time when we are done we may get off the ship for a little but if not then we will just relax and enjoy our last childless night, ha ha.

Hi All~

Just cant wait to get on board. I have been checking out all the different shore excursions and they look "Wonder"-ful. My son (age 13) wants to go Salmon Fishing while in Ketchian, so we are going to do that while my mom takes the City Highlights Tour - I think that is more her speed. Still cant decide which excursion to do while in Skagway - i know it's going to be the train up White Pass - just not sure which one as of yet. :confused3 Does anyone have any ideas???

Looking forward to getting this party started!

Welcome to all the new cruisers! I love seeing our group grow as we get closer! I don't know how I'm going to contain my excitement over the next few months. My kids don't know and I'm so afraid I'm going to spill the beans and ruin the surprise.

Welcome to all the new cruisers!! It's so fun to be getting to know everyone before the trip. It makes it so much more exciting and "real". :) I'm so glad there are more of you joining the FE group! So fun.

If you have not already please include yourself on our group spreadsheet, which is here. It's fun to see who you've booked excursions with, and to see who has kids the same age as yours for potential playmates!: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Au6ZjSAKNCdBdGNIa0hpRmFPQVpwaEttZF9xUWsyc1E#gid=0

And then join us over on facebook for more fun! https://www.facebook.com/groups/306867739393733/

GROUP MEETUP:

I'm thinking 2:30 or 3:00 on Embarkation day in the Promenade Lounge for our group meetup?

I thought this too but usually we are at CC the last day of a cruise. This time we'll be at sea the last day. I plan to pack earlier in the day and try to do either a trolley tour or horse drawn carriage. We have early dining and it's kind of messing up our dinner so we'll see.
