Aug 27, 2012 Seattle to Skagway Sailing

Its official! The Robinson family is IN on the FE exchange. I also checked out the facebook page and requested membership. Not sure how the approvals work, but its been done.

We are getting excited. Flights booked. Trying to narrow down excursions. We are interested in FE. Also still looking for penpal for DD 12 if anyone has similar age girl.

Hello everyone! We just booked this cruise a few weeks ago and it will be our 7th disney cruise. We are a family of 4: me(37), dh(38), dd(8) and dd(6). This will be a surprise for our girls. We will be visiting family in Seattle the weekend before the cruise departs and then plan on taking them to the port to "see" the Wonder. I can't wait to see the looks on their faces! I will join the fbook group as well!

Hey guys - we were out on the water yesterday morning and saw the Wonder in port! It was so exciting (for me! my kids were less than impressed, LOL. My daughter says she just can't wait 87 days for the cruise).

So I saw that you all posted in the current Alaska cruise thread hoping for Navigators and looking for info about a pirate night. (I'm doing the Alaska cruise thread right before you.) I saw on CC that one of the people there has a son who is Jack Sparrow for the Wonder this season...so that makes it sound like there will be a pirate night. :)

Hello fellow August 27 Disney Wonder cruisers!

We booked this cruise last August while we were on the Dream, and were very excited to finally book Port Adventures and check in last night! We're a family of five and we have three boys. At the time of the cruise, they will be ages 5, 12 and "just days away from 13."

LuvTink, we have no experience in Alaska, but I have to say that I realized the impact of the short port times once I booked excursions! We booked the Rainforest Canoe Adventure and Nature Trail in Ketchikan, and it returns at 11:45am - doesn't look like there would be time to look around in Ketchikan with that schedule, but I'm not sure.

maggie, did you decide on excursions?

neenslovesdisney, we're also visiting family (but in Western Washington) before the cruise. Wow - 7th Disney cruise! Have you sailed on the Wonder before?

I thought they wouldn't be having fireworks due to the debris that falls into the water. I guess you never know.

Thanks, DisSarahK! This is great news, because I just ordered the Jake costume for our youngest from disneystore.com. Last summer on the Dream, we had to put together our own Jake costume for him (older boys were both Jack Sparrow), and it was less-than-convincing.

Ha! One of the options I'm considering is pulling together Jake and Izzy costumes for my two. (Yes, even my 8 year old daughter likes Jake!)

We booked float plane in Ketchikan with Island Wings last night and I just booked Palo!! Woohoo. This is our second cruise and we didn't do Palo last time.
We are still sorting out other excursions.

If only we had that money tree :rotfl2:

Are you on the 8 a.m. flight? That's what we have booked. :goodvibes

Dh would love that float plane but I'm too nervous to fly in something like that!

As for the costumes , I am also looking for pirate costumes for the kids and DH! We haven't done a disney cruise for a little over a year so the kids (and DH lol) have outgrown everything ! I'm going to check an online costume store as well as the Disney store. Any suggestions for places to look?

Yes 8 am flight. Do you think we are on the same flight? There are 4 of us

I think that means we are! Last time I used her when I was in Alaska there was only one plane and I've never read of there being another pilot. There are two of us so we just might have the whole tour booked, lol.

I think I finally have our excursions nailed down. It's hard to plan when my daughters have no clue so they can't give their input. Or maybe that makes it easier? :confused3 My goal was to do at least one thing each day that my girls (5, 7 and 10) would be excited about.

Skagway: White Pass Scenic Railway with Exclusive Youth Activity in the morning. I thought that the other trips on the train were a little long for our girls and this way they will have the choice of hanging out with the other kids and Disney counselors on the way down. Then we are going to do the Musher's Camp & Seld Dog Experience in the afternoon. I'm booked with DCL for now but think we will book directly instead.

Juneau: Historic Gold Mining and Panning Adventure through DCL in the morning then exploring Mendenhall on our own and possibly the Mt. Roberts Tram too.

Ketchikan: Bering Sea Crab Fisherman's Tour. I have heard so many great things about this that I can't wait. Even being from the Seattle area where we can go see many of the boats from the show up close, I think this will be fun for all of us. I just wish we had more time in port so we could walk around a bit too.

Victoria: We're opting to not get off the ship here since we can do a day trip anytime we want. We'll do our Palo dinner this evening instead.

Oh and I have Palo brunch scheduled for Tracy Arm day.

What time of year are the crab boats docked in Seattle? We are coming to Seattle a few days early so we can be tourists, and my hubby's one wish is to see the Deadliest Catch boats at their dock. I told him not to get his hopes up... please tell me that they will be there in late August. Otherwise I'm going to have to buy the "Crabby" boat from Cars 2 and tell him that's as close as he's getting to a crab boat (the excursion is out of our budget unfortunately :sad1:).
