Just creating a cruise meets post. Anyone else heading North right before Labor Day?

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :thumbsup2

Have a great cruise!

Hello! My DH and I booked this cruise on our 6/7 cruise on the Dream. My birthday is August 28, so we already had this cruise in mind before we got on the ship. We can't wait!

We will be disembarking on our wedding anniversary on this new cruise. We booked another Alaska cruise while on the June 21st (DH birthday) sailing to Alaska this year. It was fabulous!

Been busy this month...makes the days go by faster to the cruise!

That's fantastic! My in-laws just came back from their first cruise ever to Alaska (they went on Princess) and they loved it. They said they saw the Wonder on one of their last stops.

I'm curious to see how the weather will be in late August. Being from San Francisco, we enjoy the cooler weather. The heat/humidity last month in Florida was horrendous, so I think we are looking forward to cooler weather for our vacation next year. :)

This will be our 3rd cruise (second is in November 2011)...

DH and I be traveling with our 3 sons, 12.5, 14.5 and 2yo. along with my parents!

Hi everyone!

We just booked this cruise last week while on the Wonder. It will be DH, DD (16), DD (11) and DS (9). We're looking forward to getting to know everyone!

We're on this cruise. We booked it after our Aug 23rd cruise to Alaska.:hippie::goodvibes

We just got back from the Westbound Transatlantic, where we booked this cruise for our next adventure!

It will be our 4th cruise (all DCL) and our 1st to Alaska. We've done two four-nighters on the Wonder and the WBTA on the Magic. The WBTA was my birthday present for one of those "landmark" birthdays and Alaska will be my DH's "landmark" birthday present next year.

Two of our tablemates from the WBTA are booked on this, too, so they should be along shortly.

Looking forward to chatting with everyone here!

Hi Pat, can't wait to cruise with you and Dennis again :goodvibes and I'm looking forward to researching all the new adventures we could have in Alaska. Time to start reading some Alaskan trip reports ...

Hello everyone! I am sailing with DH on Aug. 27 as well. This will be our 11th Disney cruise (Platinum, FINALLY!!! We've been working on it for a while now ). We are thrilled to be going to Alaska! We live in Florida, and this will be my first plane ride... and as far away as Seattle, none the less. I am terrified of the plane. I even had a nightmare about it a few nights ago. Luckily, I have 11 months and 6 days to get used to the idea. DH said "You'd better not be thinking I'm driving us from Florida to Seattle... you are GOING on the plane!" DH's brother and wife live in Seattle, so we are looking forward to seeing the sights and visiting with them for a few days before the cruise.

This cruise is really a dream come true. I have so many places I'd like to see, but time just keeps rolling by faster and faster, so I told DH that we need to start seeing everywhere we had wanted to see. DH is starting to show some signs of wear and tear from his physically demanding job, so I don't want to have regrets later in life when we may not be able to travel as much as we'd like. Carpe diem, right? :goodvibes

I am looking forward to chatting with everyone on here, and sharing tips and ideas.

Hi Karen! I was back at work today, telling everyone about our fab cruise - they were all jealous. I'm trying to adjust to not eating six times a day. Must. Go. To. GYM!

I'll be interested to hear what you find out about the Alaska excursions. It looks like a couple of our port days are going to be pretty short.

We miss you!

I hate flying, too. The only thing that got me on the flight to Barcelona was the thought of spending 2 weeks on the Magic.

Pat while we were In the World of Disney store in DTD we saw a yard ornament of the pink flamingo from Gnomeo & Juliet, it made us smile and think of you :goodvibes

Did you see them too?

No, I missed those! I've seen the beaded flamingo ornaments in one of the stores. Very cool, but I don't think I can talk Dennis into it. One of those "where would we put it" deals.

We skipped WoD this time. I ended up in a long line at guest services trying to get our KTTW cards sorted out so we could buy lunch. Apparently when we checked in at OKW they forgot to check the box that gave us a credit limit over $0. After that, all we wanted to do was go for a swim and hang out at the resort. OKW was very cool! We loved it.

So we have almost a year before we sail (wow, that seems like a long time) and it may be a bit early for all of this, but...

Has anyone given any thought to:

a) hotels to stay at before we sail?

b) excursions at the ports?

c) ways to get cheap airfare to Seattle?

d) activities on board? (e.g., FE exchange)

On the WBTA, the DIS'ers organized a ton of activities, like a Pajama breakfast on one sea-day, a Mickey Mouse club night at one dinner, and a scrapbooking exchange, to name a few.

I was in charge of organizing the FE exchange, and I'd be happy to do it again for this cruise.

As more people join, maybe we can kick around some ideas of things to do.

I'm planning! :D I think I may be driving my hubby nuts. I seem to go through a pattern with cruises of doing tons of planning right after booking, then 4 months of nothing, then the month we pay off the cruise I go into busy bee mode and plan plan plan. I also start packing a month before our departure :D. To which DH says all month, "Honey, I have no socks..." "Well, it's because I've packed them all for the cruise dear." :laundy:

I got lucky with the hotel part... DH's brother and wife live in Seattle, so they are putting up with us for a few days before and after the cruise. They've been wanting us to visit, so this all falls together nicely.

I searched Expedia and found very cheap airfare to Seattle from Orlando on Delta ($218 per person round trip), but I have a feeling it may be because Delta has a large presence in Orlando. The airfare from Tampa to Seattle via Delta was almost double, and I checked Jetblue and they were double the price as well. I'm going to book the tickets as soon as our dates show up for the return flight. So I'd recommend checking out Expedia or Priceline, to atleast get the blanket prices of most airlines for your location.

As for excursions, DH and I are definitely doing the White Pass and Yukon Route (Skagway). We saw a video Disney posted that sold us on it months ago. I'd also like to see Mendenhall Glacier (Juneau), but we are "thrifty" and I found the planned excursions to it to be a little pricey, considering to get into the visitor's center is only $3. We may find private transportation and go that way. We were also looking at various things to do in Ketchikan. It looks like an absolutely beautiful town and a fun place to walk around, so we may just walk around and visit some local parks and see the sights in town, or take in the lumberjack show. I'm scouring the boards when I have time, trying to find more info.

Edit: Just booked plane fare! :) $560 for two roundtrip from Orlando to Seattle (with added insurance). As I was looking on Expedia, the price jumped almost $100! Not sure what happened there... but luckily when I went to Delta's site it was still the same price.

Hi all!

We just booked this cruise! :woohoo: :yay: (tentatively for now)
We were originally planning to sail to Alaska in 2013 but now with so many rumors about the Wonder moving to the east coast we decided to stop procrastinating.

It will be me, dh ds15, ds12. It will be our 11th Disney cruise. yay! platinum perks!

I'm still in sticker shock; we are used to off-peak Caribbean cruises.
I usually book 1st day of release and just out of curiosity I've been looking to see what prices were back then but the only Wonder 2012 price thread I can find is only MR related.

My family has never been so exicted to go on a cruise before! :goodvibes:love:

Welcome aboard! :wave2:

This will be our 4th cruise, all Disney. We've done 2 4-night Bahamas cruises on the Wonder, and the Westbound Transatlantic on the Magic back in September.

This is Dennis' (my DH) birthday present, for one of those "landmark" birthdays next year. The WBTA was my "landmark" birthday present this year. But his is a much bigger "landmark" than mine was. ;)

Hopefully, we'll get some chat going here as more people join up.
