~Aug 2013~ Sew what~We've gotta find a way back-Part II- TR link posted - 8/31

and I know someone mentioned about the Frogg Togg towel and I just want to say it was AWESOME! We used it for our trip last week and it was great!

I found an off brand (same thing as the Frogg Togg) at a store called "Tuesday Morning" (not sure if these are anywhere but FL) last weekend for $6.99 and it's huge! I'm planning to cut it up into smaller pieces. Everyone is raving about them!

Yikes, I had no idea about the fridges. I really hope they remedy this soon. I would think they would have to have some sort of fridge available for guests that need them for medical reasons.

My grandmother would spend her summers in Africa. She and the other tourists would use Emergen-C to prevent hypothermia. I've used it when I'm outside for long periods of time and it seems to do the trick.

yes they do and have always had this for medical issues even long before the resorts ever had refrigerators they are estimating 4 months to have the problem remedied

For anyone there now that has a refrigerator they aren't taking it away but as a guest leaves and before another arrives they are removing it This according to several WDW websites and the Disability Community Board of the Dis I think its VERY responsible they are doing this, as someone else said (Nini ?) there was a fire in CA and they aren't taking any chances

I'm impressed with all the progress you are making with your bags, in spite of not having any batting. The girls are so cute and I see Alli had warmed up to the characters. :thumbsup2

Yes, all the rooms had electric coolers (they weren't REALLY refrigerators...but they kept stuff cool). Unfortunately, they had an issue over the weekend. Rumor has it one caused a fire in the Grand Californian in DL. In an effort to prevent it from happening again, Disney has ordered all taken out of the rooms. Disney is scrambling right now to find replacements. They are officially saying 4 months or longer. As people are checking out they are removing them, to be replaced once they get some.

Hopefully they will get it worked out soon....

Nini
I didn't realize there was a fire. YIKES. Hope they get this figured out soon.

If we go to a hotel without our cooler we usually fill up the ice bucket and my DH puts his drink in there to keep cool. You could also fill up a ziplock bag with ice and put your drinks in there. I will usually put ice in a cup before I go to bed and then it is melted but cool in the morning. I'm not a fan of the FL tap water.

I like the idea of packing your bag for your first park day before you leave for WDW. You could always put the items together in a Target bag in your suit case and then transfer it after arrival if you want to use your travel carry-on.

Could not remember where I saw the up neckless but I found it under this PTR A Princess Goes Home!! PTR check it out and see the pic its cute

Those frog towels sound like they would really work. Another thing we used to use at work is a camp scarf... you get them in the camping dept. you soak them in water and they swell up takes them about 15 min to absorb the water the first time. but you wear them around your neck and they keep you cool, to refresh them ask for a glass of ice water at a Disney vender and drop the scarf in it for a few min. then it will be ready to go again......

We stayed at the POP last year and had the " Disney personal shopper" bring us a cheap cooler with the rest of our groceries. We really had no problem with things getting warm. It kept our drinks cold with just one ice change daily.
On the flip side, I don't think they even will ask for a note if you request a fridge for a medical need.

Your trip is coming so fast now. I'm really excited for you! Ruth

I honestly don't think the fridge thing will be that big of an issue. Yes it would keep stuff cold overnight, but by the afternoon (when you really need the coolness) stuff would be warm anyway. Just get ice water from the QS and carts around the parks. Easy peasy.

Look at it this way....we will have more storage space in the room. Right?

hey got an idea, solves problem theres a Dollar Tree not far from WDW they have styrofoam coolers I'll pick up one for anyone coming in Aug and drop them off for you :thumbsup2 let me know asap as I will be picking one up there for us next week

I was very surprised about these headbands, I don't know where she gets them, but the girls always have the same problem - and these don't hurt, they are very nice.

I may have to get one and try it out and see if she likes it. If so we may have just found a new obsession!!

Yeah for getting a lot of work done on both bags.

Still loving the old photos. Makes me want to pull out all mine from past trips. But that's not happening right now. They are buried in the attic somewhere!!

Really didn't have a link she just said she found it on etsy. But I looked on etsy didn't find the neckless but under handmade Disney I found a pin that also matched it...

:thumbsup2

I thought all Disney rooms had fridges. We had one at FQ last year. It wasn't super cold but it did keep drinks cool. My daughter had a mini fridge at Pop in May. She said it was cute.

Nini answered you below.

Techically I'm wireless but there aren't a lot of full time hours right now, so I get to work in electronics and photo more. Our photo lab is a dry lab but it has problems so someone has to be there. It's also concidered a service area and someone has to be around there to help the customers.

That is a bummer about your dry labs... I miss all the chemicals and working with 35mm film... IT's such a lost art now.

I make alot of cross body type bags but I have done others. Recdently I made my niece, who's like a second daughter and my daughter tote bags. I'm making my niece curtains for her son's room and a wristlet for her.

Cool! They sound awesome! :thumbsup2

I'm going to Disney with my daughter. It'll probably be our last mother-daughter trip for a while. Next September we're supposed to go with her boyfriend's family which should be interesting. He wants to have agrand gathering.

Both trips sound like a lot of fun! :cloud9:

THanks for answering Nini! :thumbsup2

I know you are really worried about Alli keeping cool and I know someone mentioned about the Frogg Togg towel and I just want to say it was AWESOME! We used it for our trip last week and it was great! I think that will really help her! Also another thing I got for each of us was those squeezable water bottles. I bought them at the Dollar store and they were great and so much easier to carry.

I love the headbands and Alli's bag.

THanks! I did buy 2 Frogg Toggs a few weeks ago - I still have to get them out (and wash them)... I hope they work - and most importantly, my 2 teen age girls don't think they are too cool for them. :rolleyes1

You can always put her drinks in the ice bucket or plug up the sink and put lots of ice in there to keep her drinks cool. Unfortunately, there is no timetable for the fridges to be replaced. They are being taken out of all resorts except for the DVC's, Ft. Wildnerness and I think the value suites.

I think this is a magnificant idea Kathy!!! I love it!

Thanks! Well, I have batting now - LOL... But I am trying to finish up some half finished projects before I start any more...

This coming week, I have my custom order, then I also have my auction on Thursday (which I haven't even started yet - but at least I know what I am doing), and I also promised V that I am going to start her bag while she is staying at a friends' house next week... YIKES!

I don't like the FL tap water either. I think I may just pack that bag before we leave, it will make things much easier once we are there.

Is the scarf similar to the Frogg Toggs?

I think this may be an option for us... SOmtimes I get carried away and have a freak out moment... I am much more calm now. :rotfl2:

It's coming too fast!!! I have sooo much to get done! Yikes!!!

Hahaha... I knew I could count on you Suzi!

This sounds marvelous... But it will mean an extra trip to WDW for you... And I don't want to inconvenience you at all... And who knows, maybe Disney will have the issue fixed by then - so all of this worry will be for nothing? I know it doesn't seem promising - but maybe... :flower3: If you pick one up for me, I will pay you the $1 (or whatever it is) when I see you. :thumbsup2

I may have to get one and try it out and see if she likes it. If so we may have just found a new obsession!!

Yes, you should try one out... We were honestly expecting them to hurt when we got them (because they ALWAYS do) - so we were pleasantly surprised!

Well, when you do find the photos - be sure to post them - I would love to see!

So, yesterday was a Target day... My day went really fast, as they had several projects for me to work on once I got there. I do like it when that happens.

Then, I came home and worked in my sewing room for about an hour before Dinner...

V made pancakes and bacon... It was so nice of her to make dinner for all of us. :thumbsup2

After dinner... I sat here and did some business - trying to get my invoices sent out for my next 2 bag orders.

Today is a busy day, and I won't get up to my sewing room at all until later this afternoon...

V has an appointment this morning. Then Alli is meeting a friend for lunch this afternoon... Which I am still VERY nervous about - as this is the first time she will be allowed in a car with a friend driving. I do plan to have the "Precious Cargo" chat with this friend today.

In between the appointment and lunch - I think the girls and I will run to the mall... I need my shower gel that I've been out of for months... Then I need to stop at Victoria's Secret to get my shampoo and conditioner - this is not my every day stuff - but it is my Disney Scent... And I NEED it for our trip.

In trip related news....

I purchased my PHotopass + last night. It's a relief to me to have that done and on the way.

I also reworked my budget, and my existing cash flow... I am very happy to report that my trip will be TOTALLY and COMPLETELY paid in full next week Friday. Wait... you thought I was paid in full right? Well - I am - sort of. Remember, my trip is only booked as room/dining at the moment. So, that part of it is paid in full. After my big auction - I had enough $$ left over to buy our park tickets, but I still had other things to pay for... Photopass +, Tips, OOP dining, water park tickets, and paying Suzi back for the Dessert Party. So, I am happy to report, that after next week, those things will all be paid for too. The only thing remaining will be our baggage fees, and any souvenier $$ I can scrape up. :thumbsup2 What a relief!

The girls' first MNSSHP... We just LOVE this event!

Have a wonderful day everyone - thoughts and prayers to everyone in need!!! :grouphug:

D~

I forgot to tell you that on the 4th of July we let Chiara go to the mall with her friend and her dad. this was the first time I ever let her do anything like that and I was a nervous nellie but she had such a blast and discovered Hollister LOL. - Your comment about Ally going in a car with a friend reminded me.

Good luck with everything today. I am going to costco with my girls and my mom so this should be interesting.

Awww, that last pic is soooo cute!!!!!! princess:

Yay for the budget! That is awesome....we are still over a year out and are thinking of areas to cut cause I think we will have trouble saving for all we want to do. we'll see! :cool1:

It is crazy to me that you have to drive to work to see when you work....I have never heard of such a thing

quote:The room inventory survey of fridges is now complete, and not all rooms are affected (only around 50% at Riverside in fact, due to a bit of luck during the recent refurb) so requesting a fridge (even for non-medical reasons) might well get you one. I don't think this is going to be as big of a deal as people feared.

Geez. i am LATE to the party.
I really don't think the fridge is a big deal??:confused3 But that's just me. Matt is a HORRIBLE over heater to the point of throwing up. Talking to doctor's about it (since he is in so many sports) Keep him drinking Gatorade Lots of shade stops. (this helps since i always hit a DSA) and stop in air conditioned areas. I also plan to get this:
Mickey Cooler

OR!!!

THIS!

This way we will have a cooler with us. JUST in case. I also plan on those FROG TOGS everyone is talking about great idea to keep them cool.
If She is as bad at over heating as your saying i don't think fashion is a problem for a coolant thingy. Ya know?!?! :confused3

i am SOOOOOO glad you got your PP+.. Can't wait to see how your pictures come out!!! The trip is really coming up FAST!!!! :cool1:

Awwwwwwwww the girls in that Picture is JUST SO CUTE!!!!!

Both great options I really like the smaller one not so much to carry around.:)

I am in LOVE with the backpack one... once the trip get a little closer i will be calling the florist are awesome magical peeps.. I used them in the past...

Right here.....

Oh crap....the lady that sits behind me (aka...mini boss) just drove back in. Gotta go pretend to work for the next hour. Then I'm OUTTA HERE!
