~Aug 2013~ Sew what~We've gotta find a way back-Part II- TR link posted - 8/31

I can't wait to see Alli's bag!!! I've always known how much work goes into your bags, but I just made a little wristlet and good grief, took me forever! I didn't even applique on it  You earn every penny you make on your bags and wallets!

I bet MM misses all that water, and his doggy buddies :)

Happy you are home safe & sound. And that you will be able to get to sewing. I can't wait to see Alli's bag. :hourglass
I love the expressions on the girls it the Mickey photo.

Enjoy the day!

Just a quick little bag update...

I am almost finished with it - about an hour to go... Then I am taking Alli out on a photo shoot with her camera and new bag...

Photos will be up tonight!!!

Whoot... I am not exaggerating - it is magnificant! It better be, after 26 hours of stitching out those appliques... LOL

D~

So happy to hear that you had a fun trip and made it home safely! I am so excited to see Alli's bag. I'll be stalking your PTR to see the pics later. :cool1:

I just don't even know where to begin telling you all about this bag - it was a labor of love for me, and it couldn't have turned out any better than it did. It is truly an epic bag, and one of my very best.

This bag was inspired by 3 different photos...

The front of the bag was inpired by this scene - one Alli's favorite scenes.

The entire color scheme of the bag was inpired by the house...

And under the flap is inspired by this scene - another of Alli's favorites.

When the fabric started rolling in... I could hardly contain myself - I just knew then that this bag was going to be exactly how my mind wanted it to be...

All in all - I know I've said this before - there are 26 HOURS of stitching time in this bag! That does NOT include the time it took to draw, cut or piece the appliques, nor does it include the time it took to quilt or assemble the bag iteself.

Under the flap - which by the way, this entire applique was an after thought, it didn't even come to me until I had started to assemble the bag - the words were done with my borrowed embroidery machine - which was 3 hoopings and an additional 4 hours trying to get each hooping lined up perfectly. Also, the flap of this bag is lined in laminated cotton to help with a little waterproofing:

And the lucky girl who gets to carry this bag in - ahem - 44 days...

Well, I know Miss B feels you NAILED IT!

She said it was a ton of AWESOMNESS!

Having not seen the movie myself I will have to defer to her judgement! (Please don't take my Disney Fan club membership from me for that admission!)

I say Beautiful...girl, smile and BAG!

Aww... Thanks Stephanie. I remember my first few wallets - and yes, they were not easy. I've done so many now - I am pretty sure I can do them in my sleep. :thumbsup2

MM is so tired - I don't think he's been awake long enough to miss anyone since we've been home? :rotfl2:

Thank you - I hope so!

that is all I could come up with !!!!!!

Thanks Ruthie! :lovestruc

LOL - thanks!

Wow! Amazing! But you must tell us , what was allis reaction?

Thanks Dee... Well - I think she was a little shocked at first... She was kind of cranky yesterday afternoon - but once I got her out there for her photo shoot, she perked right up. She does love it - and she is super excited to carry it in Disney. She is a bit disappointed that I didn't make the insert... I told her that I must get the bags done first - if I have the time, I will make her a new insert, otherwise she will have to use the one I made for her bag at Christmas. But I really hope to have the time to do a new insert for her. :lovestruc

Well, you saw what my day consisted of yesterday. When I begain working on Alli's bag in the morning - I honestly did not think I would finish it yesterday. I knew I would get most of it done... It wasn't until I had the exterior assembled that I knew I'd finish. It was such a relief to have it done - FINALLY! It was very hard for me to leave it unfinished while we were at the lake.

Today, I plan to start my next custom order. And this afternoon, I plan to start V's trip bag. :lovestruc

I am now in full-on final planning mode. As the MDE website cooperates, I've been dumping all of my duplicate ADRs - this has not been an easy task due to website glitches - but I am plugging away.

I have also been trying to tweek my calendar pages a little bit... I am trying to add in our out of pocket expenses, so when I am in WDW I kind of have a "budget" of what I need to stick to per meal. During planning - I know that I way over estimated the cost of things, but just to be safe, I want to make sure I have enough in GCs when it comes time to actually start using them. This is kind of a time consuming process, because I have to sift through all of my planning notebook to come up with my original budget... :surfweb: I also need to get all of these pages printed.

I also, finally, completed my online check in. I've debated on whether I was going to do this or not, and I just decided I would. I also plan to send a fax at approximately 10 days out to request our beloved building #6. :lovestruc

Once again, thank you all for the lovely comments on Alli's bag (both here and on FB) - It was such a fun bag to make, and I just love how it turned out. I cannot wait to see her using it on our trip.

Have a wonderful Monday everyone... Prayers go out to everyone in need... Tess - any updates on Kat? And, has anyone seen Lillian lately?

D~

WOW!!!!! LOVE Alli's bag! Love all the fabrics including the lining fabric. The appliqués are stunning! You've set the bar pretty high for yours and V's bags!:rotfl:

Ok I make dog clothes and stuff. But that is the cutest bag I have ever seen!! :thumbsup2 Do you have a website for your bags? You could be the next vera Bradley I swear.....:woohoo:

Thanks for asking D~ - Kat is in the rehab hospital and seems to be making great progress. She can walk a little, is moving her arm and is gaining new words every day - not always appropriately, but getting that connection in her brain working is more important. She got up from her wheelchair the other day without assistance and was able to stand on her own 2 feet. Being in Baltimore, her friends have been able to visit more and her best friend has been there constantly. They apparently have taken to having wheelchair races down the hallway.

I will say it AGAIN! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the up inspired bag!!! so how long (INCLUDING the cutting out etc) did the entire bag take to make? i can only imagine...

there is so much to say! your get away to the lake is so awesome!!! the picture with MM and the stick had me cracking up!!!
OH and Josh the photo bomber!!! What a riot!!! just shows how much fun you had!!! and of course i love the sweatshirts.
