~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

Wow...I go away for 10 days and you add a million pages for me to read.

Love the new bag...

I would never put our presents under the tree early...Our Mr Max would open every single one .... especially since we caught Mr D teaching him how to open presents last year...of course only HIS presents got opened... and Max was still a puppy...

Nini

It sounds like you are really set for Christmas! My dog (a golden doodle named Ellie) would have those under the tree packages opened in a hurry! Out tree sits behind a baby gate most of the time.
A request to anyone in Disney now or soon.... I would love a 2013 calendar! Usually we have been down there or know someone who is going, but that didn't happen this year. Only a few more weeks left on this one. If someone could pick it up,please let me know and I will get payment to you!
I hope everyone has a wonderful day! Ruth

LOL... MM hasn't learned how to hopen presents yet... I think that it's next year we will have to worry about. :rolleyes1 I hope someone is able to get your calendar for you Ruth.

You are going to be an Aunt!!! Very sad that you won't get to see him or her very often. My neice lives about 4.5 hours from us. She had a baby 5 months ago and we just go to meet him this past weekend. He was SO PRECIOUS!!! I still have many years to go before it happens, but it made me excited to be Grandma someday!

Yes, we are probably more excited than we need to be - LOL But, V was the very last baby in the family, and the girls are especially close to their Uncle Brian - so this little one is extra special to us. We purchased the first baby gift yesterday, a little Taggie stuffed animal... We needed something to fill the 2nd box we are sending that direction. :rolleyes1

Funny story about MM eating Eyore's ear. Have you seen the Dog Shame page on FB? That story sounded perfect for the Dog Shame page. It is such a funny page, you should check it out!

ROFL... Nope, haven't seen it... Don't wanna give MM any more ideas - nor do I want him to know he is any more famous than he already is. :rotfl2: Maybe I will peek one day while he is napping.

Love the new bag! I love the castle and the sparkly fabric too! Also congrats on being an aunt, how exciting!

Thank you so much! :) Yes, we are all so excited... Only 6 more months to wait. popcorn::

what are you wanting Ruth a wall calendar ? don't know if there are character specific ones or a WDW general one woulb be more than happy to help you especially sinice th
is ' RuthIE' I can look see what they have let u know if there is some theme u have in mind

That is so nice of you RuthIE. :grouphug:

first this is Ruthie............IE..Eeee

love the monorail the best
congratulations on the future new niece or nephew exciting !

glad your DDs seem to be getting better

MM : look ashamed you Eeyore killer

and for Josh that ham dinner sounds Delish !

I am sorry RuthIE... Somehow I missed the IE on the end, pretty much every time you said it. Grrr... sometimes I miss the most obvious things. I will try to do better.

I just love that I have a Ruth, Ruth and Ruthie following my PTR... :thumbsup2

I love the bag D.

I need to order some fairy frost for a skirt for C for our trip. I love fairy frost.

Thanks Chiara! Yah - I ordered more FF yesterday, shame on me... I have a few bags coming up next year that it would go great with, and I really like it on appliques too.

first this is Ruthie............IE..Eeee :rotfl2:

:lmao:

D~ if you really want to cut down on the confusion, you can call me RAT or Bruce. Or we could be Classic Ruth, New Ruth and RuthIE. :rotfl:

T Doesn't play with his toys much: although last night he was laying down with his nose in his toy spot, right between his little squeaky lion and fluffy weasel.

Love the bag so very much! The Castle is perfect and the lining was made for it!

I haven't been able to sit down at the sewing machine, but I am knitting a ruffle scarf for one of my SILs. So at least I feel like I'm accomplishing something.

Thanks Ruth... I just think that everyone in my PTR will now be renamed Ruth (except for Ruthie, of course) - then there will be no confusion at all. :thumbsup2

You knit???? Seriously??? You should see the scarf I just purchased on Etsy to wear for Christmas... (I will try to post pictures later) I am super duper into hand knitted things lately - but I don't know how to knit (and really no desire to learn - yet)... How awesome that you know how to do it - it's such a beautful art! So, what kinds of things do you knit?

Love the new bag! You know I love that castle...but the monorail is awesome! And I bet that sparkly fabric is amazing in person. I kinda feel bad for the little monorail though....he shouldn't be stuck on the back of the bag. Nobody will see it! It deserves its own UPB I think ::yes:: A monorail would make a really good GAC pouch for Bradey too...let me know when your list opens up the next time. What would that be....2015 now?? :rotfl2:

Oh, and I was wondering about Rise of the Guardians....it looks like it might be a little more for the tweens/teens. Do you think a 6 year old would like it? Anything sorta scary in it? I really really want to see it, but I thought I might have to take my nephews instead.

I know, it's a bummer that the Monorail is stuck on the back of the bag, but there is no way I could fit it on the front... On the other side of that argument though - I love surprises on my bags, and what better surprise that when it gets taken off - there is something else back there to look forward to. :goodvibes

Rise of the Guardians was very good, however there were some longer and sometimes frequent "dark" scenes in it... I am not sure how well Bradey does with scary stuff? I would maybe wait and take your nephews if they are older. :confused3

Lovely bag and the monorail is awesome. It's a shame that not many people will see it since it's on the back of the bag. Love the little detail on the monoral where a little thing (don't know what it is called) is standing out of the bag almost in front of the monorail. The Fairy Frost fabric looks great and I can imagen that it looks even better in real life.

Yah, it is a little bit of a bummer that it's on the back, but it will be seen when the bag is taken off. :) Thank you - I do love that Fairy Frost... I might be using a little bit of it on my next bag too. :rolleyes1

Hope Ali is feeling better (I had the stomach flu, but the mild one with no vomitting, but I got the viral thing in the chest to go with it ).

LOVE the new bag...it is wonderful.

J's ham and gravy sound absolutely marvelous.

Alli is all better now, thanks for asking. I think it was just a 24 hour bug, none of us have gotten it yet (and let's pray we don't - LOL).

And thank you on both accounts... The ham and gravy was amazing... We are still trying to decide if we want to have turkey or ham for Christmas - or something else. We have one of each in our freezer yet... Josh said he was thinking of ordering Lamb... Yikes - I haven't had lamb since my 21st birthday, I hope he knows how to cook it, because I certainly don't. LOL

the new bag is so sparkly! pretty!!!!
started my PTR

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3028844

Thanks for letting me know - I've already been there.

Oh boy, we just got back to our rooms from Epcot and I checked in on the DIS to see a beautiful castle/monorail backpack! I love it! I'm gonna have to figure out a way to wear it backwards to show off the monorail equally ;) It's just perfect. We're heading home tomorrow, so I'll have to book a trip for next month so I can use it! I showed the pictures to my daughter, and she just kept asking "how does she do that???" She is amazed (as I am!)

Awesome!!! So glad you both like it! LOL about wearing it backwards... You can just sling it over your shoulder "Santa style" with the drawstrings. :thumbsup2

Congrats on becoming an Auntie!!!!

GORGEOUS BAG!!! I love how well everything goes together.

Hope Allie is feeling better. Sorry the teachers didn't do what they said they would do. Makes me know to keep on my kids teacher's if we ever have issues like that.

Thanks Sandra! :)

Yah - Alli is feeling better, thanks for asking. It seems we always have issues like this, and it's so frustrating.

Nini

Welcome home Nini... I don't think there are 10 million pages to read, it's been rather slow lately... Maybe 10 pages. LOL

ROFL about your Max and Mr. D... That is a strange coincidence that is was only his gifts that were open.

**********************************************************

I got a lot done in my sewing room yesterday... I almost have my next bag entirely quilted - just a couple of small pieces left. Then I plan to start the appliques this morning too.

I only have one more bag to do before I am off for Christmas break... :woohoo: Then I have a whole laundry list of things to do for my family as gifts...

I have Alli's camera bag to make yet... And I have a case for V to make yet... And Josh wants me to hand applique a tire cover for his Jeep - I am tired of hearing him complain that he has to get in line with everyone else... :confused3 I hope I can get it all done before Christmas.

I am off this afternoon to go get my hair done. :woohoo:

I had to reschedule my couch guy, because he wanted to come while I was getting my hair done. :confused3

Oh, and at some point today, I need to hit the PO.

I hope you all have a marvelous day today!

D~

Yeah, I think I will take my nephews. They are 12 & 13...they will like it :happytv:

You haven't done the tire cover yet?? Geez woman, what have you been doing? Twiddling your thumbs this whole time? I mean, its not like you have anything else to do...

How dare that couch guy....doesn't he know how sacred our hair appointments are?? :rotfl2:

I do a little of everything crafty. Sewing, applique, cloth dolls, crochet, knit, scrapbooking,

I've knit scarves, hats, a sock (yes, just one: it was bright yellow and I wanted to see if I could actually do a sock) dishclothes and a 22" pillow of Chip, from Beauty and the Beast. I thought I had a picture uploaded, but I can't find it.

I always feel like I'm leaving DH out when I craft. I did, however, get a pajama pattern that, as soon as I find some perfect fabric, will be making for him. He does encourage me to work on stuff for me, as well as others.

RuthIE I would love any calendar you can find at disney. The ones I've had before were pictures from around the "world". What a great group of people are on these boards!

No, I have not done the tire cover yet... :confused3 Part of the problem is that he took all 3 blank ones and put them in the basement somewhere... I need to go on a scavenger hunt today and find them, because I want that gift to be a surprise.

Exactly... and no one has called me to reschedule his appointment.

Love the new bag!

Thanks Tink!

Wow Ruth - you do a lot of everything, how awesome!

LOL about the one sock...

If you find the photo of the Chip pillow - I would love to see it!

That's awesome that your DH is is encouraging. Josh is that way too - he thinks it's almost sacreligious that I don't carry one of my own bags on a daily basis. :confused3 He sometimes gets annoyed that I never make anything for myself.

LOL Ruthie... I have had several dates for my trip... Right now, I have it narrowed down to sometime between October 11-21. It's going to depend on what kind of deals that Disney releases and airfare prices... Unfortunately, we may end up with a shorter trip this time.

LOL - I didn't know that Ruth was Walt's sister's name... See - you Ruths (and Ruthies) are famous!

good luck getting everything made for the family! sure you'll get it done!

Thanks Lisa.

**********************************************************

So... Yesterday I finished up my quilting, then I worked on my applique all morning - I managed to finish most of the front one. It's turning out fantastic and I am very happy with it. I feel like I nailed the expression - and that is very important to me when I am doing a character.

Then, I got a call from the school nurse for V... What is going on??? Seriously - I feel like I have had one of my girls home with me every single day this school year. Her chest was bothering her, and it "hurt to breathe"... but when I got there she was fine. :confused3 So, I took her home. I noticed I was having sort of the same symptoms - so I assumed we were getting a cold? But today I feel fine, so who knows?

I dropped all my packages at the PO on the way home. :thumbsup2 Our PO is starting very reduced hours in January, so I am slowly trying to learn all of the online PO tricks - eventually, I am going to move everything to online PO and have everything picked up at home... Thanks to my newest PO lady - who is telling me all about the tricks. :thumbsup2 It will save me lots of gas mileage and time.

I went and had my hair done, it turned out really cute! I just LOVE my new stylist - not only is she very personable, but her prices are very reasonable too. I decided to do something fun for the holidays and she mixed burgundy into my color pallette... LOVE IT!!! Very fun and super cute! Although, next time I do a color - I am going to do an all over color under it - I love all the highlights and lowlights she put in, but I hate my own color mixed in with that - since it's such a dirty color (not really a color at all) and gray. :rolleyes1 I am hoping to get the all over color as close to my natural as possible, so when it grows out - it's not so noticable. popcorn:: I would show pictures, but I am under strict orders not to shampoo my hair for 3 days (this is going to drive me crazy), so that the burgundy really takes. Last time, my red hue lowlights were the first to go.

Today will be an all day sewing extravaganza... I plan to finish up all the appliques and start assembly.

Josh and I were talking about remodeling our kitchen last night... So, I told him just to forget it... I am sick of all the work we have to do to this house yet, and the fact that part of the kitchen floor is sinking... It's an old house, and I am really beginning to see that it's not worth all this effort. So, on a whim - we've decided we want to finish up the current projects and sell. :headache: Then I looked around, and thought "there is NO WAY I am going to be able to pack up and move all this STUFF"... But we did go online to see if there are any houses that interest us on the market... Nope - really nothing. But, at least we've decided that we are not going to stay here forever... :rolleyes1

Fun times...

Well, I have to get going, I have to bring Alli into town early this morning, so she can take a test from last week.

I hope you all have a wonderful day. :thumbsup2

D~

I find it fascinating to read about your hair color...I know, I'm weird. I made it 31 years before I ever colored my hair. I always had long, straight, plain brown hair. Then a couple years ago I had a moment....I chopped it off. I mean really chopped it off. She had to use a razor on the back of my neck that's how short I have it now! And I love it. When I chopped it off, she told me I should have some highlights to make the layers stand out. So I did it. That's as far as I've gotten though....I don't dare to get a full color job. I just so afraid that once I do it, I can never go back. Don't you have to go like every few weeks to keep the roots from showing? I have an appointment tomorrow for another trim and highlights. Not sure I can go full blown yet...

And I totally know what you are saying with the moving. We are at that place right now...not because our house is old, but because we want something cheaper. But moving is such a daunting task. And we just did it 3 years ago! And with a young child, keeping your house clean for showings is impossible! Oy...I just want the house fairy to come save me. Maybe we should both apply to HGTV and see what happens :thumbsup2

your hair sounds festive D! I usually get highlights a couple times a year and then touch up my roots at home every few weeks.

hope you a V aren't getting sick...my cold keeps switching up on me, was feeling better, but have a sore throat today :confused3

one good thing about moving...you really make decisions on what's truly important enough to keep and move! its a good reason to purge :thumbsup2

MM did receive a surprise in the mail the other day... Wendy (gosh her Dis name slips me right now) picked up an Eeyore for Max... He was so excited to get it. I took a picture of him, and he was just a happy little guy. :lovestruc About an hour later - we noticed that Eeyore was missing an ear already (Eeyore does not have small ears, mind you). I searched the office and the ear was no where to be found. :headache: So, I put Eeyore on a high shelf, until MM learns not to eat his Eeyores. This morning, I woke to a large pile of "something questionable" (ahem - vomit) on my office floor... Then I noticed the pink of Eeyore's ear in the pile... Yup - I found it...

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. :lovestruc

D~[/QUOTE]

I can't believe he tore the ear off that quickly! Poor MM! I am glad that he was so happy with it and thank you for sending me a picture of him! It really was no problem getting it and BTW my name is Holly (not Wendy).

Finally caught up!

I love the new bag. :lovestruc I got lots of attention last week while carrying mine!

I'm so jealous that you are done with your Christmas shopping. I still have so much to do and most of mine has to be mailed. I really need to do a marathon shopping day this weekend. My main problem is my Mom, I never know what to get her. :confused3 I was hoping to come up with an idea after being with her for a week at Disney but no such luck.

I love the castle/monorail bag! The interior fabric is perfect and the black for the windows is amazing! What did you say the name of it was? That might be a fun fabric to make Mickey heads put out of for our next trip.

:wave2:
Hi i'm back!
You need to make a sleeping bag your bags are so awesome! I hope everyone is feeling better!?! LOVE your tree! can't wait to get ours. you have me looking up tree farms around here... unlike the local landscaping place we usually get. I have my candles up and lit already! LOVE LOVE the smells of Christmas! i saw Target has some new Disney items!!!
I'm sure you know?!
i am finally caught up with you and Suzi. Mat leaves tomorrow. Oopsi HERE I COME!!!

Thanks for sharing all those tidbits about MOA. I hope to make it out there someday soon :stir:

OMG Holly - I am sooo sorry... The funny thing is, I had your Dis name right in my head, and I didn't write it because I thought I had it wrong. LOL It was the "W"s in it that threw me off, and made me think "Wendy"... Please forgive my ever aging mind.

D, just popping in to say goodbye and I'll see you when I get back.

Going to sell the house and move? I dread that move to Florida in three years and packing up. :scared1:

Do not feel bad! Since my DIS is so different from my real name it is understandable and the fact that I never post my real name.

I know how you feel about the sick kids. I swear last year the school nurse had my number on speed dial. It hasn't been as bad this year but my oldest son was home today after getting sick last night...and even now he is looking kinda rough. I'm not so sure he'll go to school tomorrow either, but I really hate for him to miss because I know he'll fall behind. He struggles enough when he IS in class!

Wow about your thoughts on moving. I really love our house and can't imagine living anywhere else. We had it built in 2001 and we are always making changes. I SO need a new kitchen floor and we were going to go looking over the weekend...but then I decided I don't want to make ANY changes either right now. Why? Because there's a CHANCE we may rent it out for a while...and move to ENGLAND for a few years!

So can you say Disneyland Paris??? :rotfl:

Yah - I love my hair short too... I was always long haired until I had Allison, then I chopped it uber short. Now, I am kind of in the middle.

Yep, I would probably have to have my roots touched up at every cut... But that's why I want my color to be as close as I can to my natural color, so it's not quite so obvious when it grows out.

And I totally know what you are saying with the moving. We are at that place right now...not because our house is old, but because we want something cheaper. But moving is such a daunting task. Yah - I am just so sick of this house... There is so much that still needs to be done to it, and it's quite embarassing to have non-family people over because we have so many half finished projects, and so many more that are in dire need... We have several years worth of work to complete before we can even think about selling. :headache:

your hair sounds festive D! I usually get highlights a couple times a year and then touch up my roots at home every few weeks.

hope you a V aren't getting sick...my cold keeps switching up on me, was feeling better, but have a sore throat today :confused3

It is a little festive - LOL :wizard: I hope you are feeling better today Lisa.

Yah - I have SOOO Much to purge, it isn't even funny... I guess I better get started on that, because some day we will move - maybe.

Finally caught up!

I love the new bag. :lovestruc I got lots of attention last week while carrying mine!

So glad to have you back Ariana! And I am glad you got lots of attention from the bag... When you have a chance I would love a photo with your bag in "action". :thumbsup2

I still have one more package to ship to The Netherlands, I've been procrastinating about sending it... Next year, I think we will just send them cash... Seriously - we have spent DOUBLE on shipping their packages over, vs. what even budget to spend on them - and now that we have the little one coming, I am sure our shipping is going to go through the roof!

I hope you are able to find something for your mom. :thumbsup2

I love the castle/monorail bag! The interior fabric is perfect and the black for the windows is amazing! What did you say the name of it was? That might be a fun fabric to make Mickey heads put out of for our next trip.

Thank you HOLLY! The fabric is called Fairy Frost... It might work very well for Mickey heads.

D, just popping in to say goodbye and I'll see you when I get back.

Going to sell the house and move? I dread that move to Florida in three years and packing up. :scared1:

Yay!!! So happy for you that the surprise is going off with out a hitch... Gosh, if I was in Mark's shoes - I would be crying and carrying on - no way would I be able to sleep the night before! I am just so excited for you both!

I would totally pack up and move to Florida - in a heart beat. :thumbsup2

:rotfl:

I hope your oldest is feeling better.

I wish I loved our house... Ours is OLD... We did not build it - but we have done some extentive remodeling to it. I can only dream of us building one day... Honest to God - my dream house is a rambler... LOL I just want a nice house with lots of square footage. We figured it out the other night - we would need, at least, a 5 bedroom house - preferably 6. 1 for Josh and I, 1 for each of the girls, either a dedicated office - or a bedroom to become one, and another bedroom or room for my sewing room. Currently, we have a 5 bedroom house, and we could use 6... It would be nice to have a spare bedroom for guests. It sounds like we have a big house right now, but we don't... It is literally 5 bedrooms, an eat in kitchen and a livingroom + 2 bathrooms. That's it. I would LOVE to have an extra family room, and a dedicated diningroom. We do love where we live, and our immediate neighbors... So, I did draw up an addition - unfortunately, I think it's too big for our lot, and I don't think a variance would cover it. :confused3 Sigh. Oh well, something will work out eventually.
