~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

Hey Mo!!! Glad you made it over here. :) Yah - I have issues typing s.l.o.w. :rotfl2:

Soooo... Did you make it through all 40 pages? :rolleyes1

Thanks!! It was a lot of fun! D~

Ummm I am getting there... while i am reading the radical trip reports.. I missed a certain deadline..

:rotfl:

Still chomping through... LOVE LOVE LOVE The cabin and your hair... Ok going back like like ummmm page 30something...

I am still so jealous that I didn't get to Charlotte. I love Charlotte.

Love all the pictures. Thanks for sharing.

I am trying to talk DH into October possibly next year.

Ok... Fine, I will stick with Oct... Lol... But I really want a long trip. Maybe I can send the girls on ME and stay a few more days?

Suzi, what r your dates?

D~

Another thought crossed my mind... What if we went in June? :confused3

We could leave the girls' last day of school, and stay forever.... :thumbsup2 We wouldn't have to worry about cutting our trip short because of school, and the girls would have 10 weeks to recouperate before going back to school. :cool1:

Annnnd, my birthday is in June...

Any thoughts on June? Weather? Crowds? Experiences?

D~ <--- who is a bit concerned that she will belong to every month of FB groups for 2013 because she can't make up her mind. :crazy2:

Yes! Come in June! That is when we are going for 12 days! We could have a DISmeet! You know you want to go in June!

I'm not sure yet. I had originally planned to make it a Nov trip for just Bradey and I while hubby was hunting, but Bradey really wants Bill to go with us, so we are now thinking sometime in Oct. Dates don't really matter much....one week is just about the same as the rest crowd calendar wise (other than Columbus weekend). But I was just kidding....do whatever works best for you guys. I would just as soon take a trip to MOA and see you too.....

Seriously... There is no way I can even think to change my dates in October, if there is a chance of seeing Oopsi again, and finally meeting Chiara and Suzi...

So, our October dates would be the 12-19th... Can anyone make that work?

D~

The dates I was looking at are 9-15, so that works for us.

Great update! Wow, that's alot of thread. Seriously, he hand wound them all? Whoa!

June and July are very crowded and hot. There are a bazillion tour groups of teenagers and just as many local summer camp kids. On the other hand the parks are open later and many carts and restaurants that aren't typically open do open during these crowded times.

For June it would depend on what part of June...we went the first week of June and it was WONDERFUL crowd wise...hot, but just as hot when we went in Oct....I loved October for Food & Wine fest and MNSSHP!!

lynn who was not asked for her 2 cents!:rotfl2:

At this point we are wide open...so I will just make that week work. We haven't talked exact dates yet, just months. Oh, it would be so much fun to meet you all! I should just do it and book it. With room-only I only have to put down one night's fee....might as well. I'll just tell hubby the dates and he will do what I say...he's a good little boy :thumbsup2

LOL - I haven't booked yet... I am waiting until my Super Secret Project is done. :thumbsup2 I would be so excited to meet you and your family too... Who knows... We might end up taking lots of trips together - w/o our un-Disney-loving DHs... :scratchin

D~

Wow... Just - wow!! I don't even know what to say. Thank you. Both of you. You all know I do it because I love it. :lovestruc

**************************************************************************************************************************************

I actually came on here to post the recipes you requested earlier...

Caramel Rolls/Monkey Bread

2 frozen bread loaves (thawed)
1-6oz pkg butterscotch pudding (sometimes I do vanilla too, must be cook n' serve - NOT instant)
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup Butter
2 Tbsp Milk
Ground Cinnamon

Heat over to 350 deg. Grease a 9x13 pan, rip apart 1 loaf of bread into approx. 1" pieces, covering bottom of the pan. Heat pudding, sugar, butter, and milk together until boiling around the edges of the pot, pour over bread pieces. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon to taste. Rip apart the 2nd loaf of bread on top of the caramel mixture and sprinkle with cinnamon. Cover to raise bread. Bake for 35-40 minutes.

****************************************************************************************************************************

The caramel rice krispie treats is a recipe that I got from a co-worker a few years ago, when I was looking for the recipe yesterday, I couldn't find it in my book, so I searched for it online and found it at Cooks.com... So, this recipe came from there - but it's the same.

Caramel Rice Krispie Treats

1st Layer:

1/4 c. butter
4 c. mini marshmallows
4 c. Rice Krispies

2nd Layer:

1 stick butter
1 can Eagle brand milk
1 bag Kraft caramels

3rd Layer:

1/4 c. butter
4 c. mini marshmallows
4 c. Rice Krispies

Melt butter and marshmallows in the microwave. Add Rice Krispies. Press into buttered cookie sheet. Melt 1 stick butter, Eagle brand milk and caramels in microwave. Pour over 1st layer. Place in refrigerator for 40 minutes. Repeat 1st layer.

OOPSI!!!! V does Ok eating all of these with her braces... The caramel in both of them isn't the really sticky chewy caramel, it's much more runny because of everything that's added to it... Not saying it isn't sticky at all - just not *as* sticky as regular caramels.

D~
I was in the pick up line earlier so I could not multi quote but oh my these sound good!!! EE and I made rice crispie treat pumpkins the other night because it has been "cool" here (read that it has been 80 here). But she would LOVE these!
Can't wait to see your new bag.

This was the real reason I had to come back and quote. This looks gorgeous!!!

GREAT UPDATE. I had such a great day, meeting and spending time with everyone. Katie was very good about taking pictures with lots of cameras and phones. All the kids were so well behaved too.

Curtis is all better and back to being his energetic 7 year old self, sounds familiar.... That flu really did wipe him out and the dehydration and not eating put him out. We followed up with the doctor on Thursday and she said it has been a long time since one of her patients had to go to he hospital for the flu but she was glad we took him in because he blood test results indicated that he needed to be.

I am glad Curtis is better... And it's a good thing you brought him in.

:rotfl2: Too funny! July was super duper hot and crowded, and I'm sure June isn't that much cooler, but probably a little less crowded. And one thing to think about....yes it is hot, but when it is hot at home too you really don't notice it as much. It's bad when you go from northern winter to hot hot FL, but when it's summer up here it's really not that different. I would never bring hubby in the summer, but once Bradey gets older, I would do it again I think.

That makes sense.

But I'm a little sad because I was just going to tell you that we have changed our plans and now are thinking Oct too :sad1: Well, maybe next time we will meet up.

I was just brainstorming... I am so deflated because we really enjoyed our long trip. There's something about going down there and knowing you have an extended amount of time to really enjoy things. For me - the 7 days just seems so short, but if we go in October, we can't go any longer than that. Victoria will be starting High School next year, and with Allison having a hard adjustment this year, I just cringe at the thought that they are going to be missing 2 days as it is. I wish we could make it longer, but we just can't. Oh well, maybe we can save the $$ we saved and put it towards our next trip?

NO! :sad1: You simply can't! See, now we can have a Dismeet with you, us and Suzi...PLEASE stick with October! ::yes::

I am super excited about this Dis meet... And it's the main reason I am sticking to October. It will be such a fun one!

I don't think you've mentioned it - but where are you staying?

Ummm I am getting there... while i am reading the radical trip reports.. I missed a certain deadline..

:rotfl:

Still chomping through... LOVE LOVE LOVE The cabin and your hair... Ok going back like like ummmm page 30something...

Thanks! I just went in for another hair cut yesterday (this is the first time in my life that I've been on top of it)... and I even made appointments for my next 2 cuts and a foil - to get me through the holidays. This is the person who used to only get her hair cut on special occasions - but I just really like my stylist a lot.

I am still so jealous that I didn't get to Charlotte. I love Charlotte.

Love all the pictures. Thanks for sharing.

I am trying to talk DH into October possibly next year.

I wish you could have made it to Charlotte too. But I am super excited that you may be planning a trip in October - that would make me feel so much better. I would really LOVE to meet you and your family some day C!

Yes! Come in June! That is when we are going for 12 days! We could have a DISmeet! You know you want to go in June!

LOL Really, I would like to plan one trip a month for an entire year - wouldn't that be awesome? :upsidedow

Well, let's plan a meet in Oct - then if you want to come up to the MOA, we can do that too. :thumbsup2

Such great pics! Looks like yall had so much fun!

Thanks Callie!

The dates I was looking at are 9-15, so that works for us.

Awesome!!! I went online and I looked into AoA, but I dunno if we can do that. To get a 1 bedroom suite is more expensive than a week at AKL and the same price as the Poly... Hello... Definately going for the Poly if it costs that much for AoA. Realistically - we will be at FQ, because we enjoyed it so much. Booking with a garden view this time though, in the hope that we get near the same location we did last time - that was phenominal!

I know I asked above... but just in case you didn't see it - where are you plannning to stay?

And just an added note... You need to get that TR done so you can start a new PTR...

Great update! Wow, that's alot of thread. Seriously, he hand wound them all? Whoa!

Boy, it did sounds that way didn't it? Sorry about that... He actually wound it himself, but he does it on the thread winding machines at the beginning of my post. But he is the only one who operates those machines, so it's still pretty cool that he has done SO MUCH!

June and July are very crowded and hot. There are a bazillion tour groups of teenagers and just as many local summer camp kids. On the other hand the parks are open later and many carts and restaurants that aren't typically open do open during these crowded times.

Yah - I think you convinced me just by saying "tour groups"... I've heard the horror stories and I want to be as far away as possible! I was thinking that it wouldn't be as bad as our last few days of Spring Break... :scared:

For June it would depend on what part of June...we went the first week of June and it was WONDERFUL crowd wise...hot, but just as hot when we went in Oct....I loved October for Food & Wine fest and MNSSHP!!

lynn who was not asked for her 2 cents!:rotfl2:

Lynn - your 2¢ are always welcome. :thumbsup2 I think we are going to stick with October, there are many benefits to this... The weather and decorations, MNSSHP, F&W, Oopsi - Suzi - & maybe Chiara are going to be there (anyone else?)... I just wish the girls had more time off of school - I get little panic attacks thinking about how locked into our dates we are, and if free dining is offered, but not for our check in date - I will just cry.

I am super excited... THat means you need to finish up your TR too and get started on that PTR. :cheer2: I haven't booked yet... I need to wait until after Josh's hunting trip in a few weeks and after I finish my Super Secret Project, then I will be booking. Hopefully some time after TG. I am just anxiously waiting for the TP 365 day calendar to flip over in a few days, so I can get a look at the early crowd predictions.

I was in the pick up line earlier so I could not multi quote but oh my these sound good!!! EE and I made rice crispie treat pumpkins the other night because it has been "cool" here (read that it has been 80 here). But she would LOVE these!
Can't wait to see your new bag.

Yah - these treats are awesome, but I made the mistake of using the unwrapped Kraft caramels - they just aren't the same, next time I will use the regular Kraft caramels and unwrap them all myself - the pre-unwrapped ones don't solidify at all, and make the treats really excessively gooey.

This was the real reason I had to come back and quote. This looks gorgeous!!!

It was very beautiful.

I had an amazing day in my sewing room yesterday, and I managed to accomplish a lot. I started and finished my applique - it turned out really nice - and it just goes really well with the rest of the bag. I also completely assembled the exterior of the bag and started with my assembly prep for the interior of the bag. I work at Target today - so I hope to finish the bag tomorrow morning and then start on the coordinating wallet.

Next week, I have a week off - no bag scheduled - which means I will be frantically working on my Super Secret Project, and hopeing to get a huge portion of it done. My personal deadline is Thanksgiving week - preferably sooner, and I still have SO MUCH to do! :crazy2:

I ordered a bunch of fabric the other day. I am kind of excited about it, because I have a bag coming up that I have been struggling with my fabric choices for months now, and I just keep dragging my feet on it because nothing was speaking to me. I found something that I really like - now I just hope that the person that ordered the bag likes it too.

As I mentioned above, I am anxiously awaiting TP to release the crowd predictions for our proposed October 2013 trip... It's getting close. Then I can start planning in earnest. I plan to cancel all of our March ADRs shortly (as soon as the TP stuff is released), and begin working on our October plans. Some how, we are going to have to squeeze in MNSSHP too - we can't go at that time of year, and not go to that - it's our favorite! Which means we will only have 5 full park days, and 1 half day (arrival day) - what to do? What to do? So, only one park will get to be done twice... So sad. I just don't know how we will get it all done? Hopefully, as our time gets closer, I will figure out a way to extend our trip a little bit. :coffee:

Does anyone have a preferred length for their trip? Considering that we don't ever buy park hoppers, and we have made it work in the past... I can't justify it this time either, especially with the added expense of MNSSHP. Oh - and costumes... Going to have to come up with a good idea for those... :coffee:

I thought I would share a picture of MM from yesterday... Josh had just taken him for a long walk in the woods (to prep him for hunting in a few weeks), he was so exhausted when they returned, he just laid on the squash. :confused3

IMG_8584.jpg

OK - enough rambling for today, must get going and get ready for work. I hope everyone has a fantastic day!

D~

WOW I love seeing all that thread. I didn't realize he winds his own stuff. How cool to get a behind the scene tour.

Another thought crossed my mind... What if we went in June? :confused3

Having been at the end of June it is very crowded the closer you get to July but I love being able to stay longer. It helps with the planning:rotfl:

Our preferred length is 10 days. That gives us 2 full days in each park and 2 days off.

We have gone shorter (not good) but never longer...yet.

Whoot! Glad you're all caught up... I also have another PTR and TR if you really want to get caught up. :crazy2:

Here's the link to the part in my TR about 50's because I don't feel like typing it all up again. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=44480105&postcount=320

I am super excited about this Dis meet... And it's the main reason I am sticking to October. It will be such a fun one!

Well, let's plan a meet in Oct - then if you want to come up to the MOA, we can do that too.

Disney is too expensive to not do what you want! Just plan whatever trip is best for you guys and if it works out that we can make it, then that would be wonderful....but I would really hate to see you not have fun because you switched dates for a DISmeet! :crowded: I probably could be persuaded to take a short trip in June with just my little man.....:scratchin I love the Hopper option and think it is totally worth the extra $$, so I can easily do a long weekend in June if that works better. Oh, I'm just gonna wait a while before I book to see what works best. We are totally open, I just know I want to go sometime in 2013!

Awesome!!! I went online and I looked into AoA, but I dunno if we can do that. To get a 1 bedroom suite is more expensive than a week at AKL and the same price as the Poly... Hello... Definately going for the Poly if it costs that much for AoA.

I know! Isn't that ridiculous?? ::yes:: I know it's a suite and all, but it is still a VALUE resort....ummm, where's the value? I wish they had made more regular rooms at that cool resort. But I don't think Bradey would appreciate the Little Mermaid theme :rotfl2: But like you said, if we are spending that kind of money, I will be at the Poly....as long as it is finished it's refurb, and that's questionable right now. I think I heard last that they were starting the rooms in Jan 2013.

Hopefully some time after TG. I am just anxiously waiting for the TP 365 day calendar to flip over in a few days, so I can get a look at the early crowd predictions.

What's TG?? I've tried to work it out, but can't do it :scratchin
And I was checking out TP crowd calendars for this Oct yesterday. It looks like everything is about a 5 other than Columbus Weekend. That shoots up to a 9ish! TP looks much better than UndercoverTourist does for Oct numbers.
