Do you watch your movies on dvd with the audio commentary (if there is one)?

I do. I like them.

I watch without commentary the first time. If it's a movie I liked and want to see again, I watch with commentary the next.

I like it, but I'm not under the illusion that I'm actually watching the movie. It's fun to have on in the background to listen to, though!

I've tried to watch it and I find it incredibly annoying. Of course, I watch it for the first time sans commentary but I've tried a couple of times and I can't stand it.

Brother Bear has an incredibly funny commentary option done by the two moose, Rutt and Tuke.

I do if I really like the movie :)

No, not so much, I've tried, it just makes me crazy and I end up turning it off. LOL

Disney fans would be well advised to check out the dvd commentaries. The Pixar ones are especially good. :earsboy:

I love them and I really like recording them, too.

Some of the stuff that doesn't make it on the DVD is freakin' HIGH-larious.

I do try to listen to all of them on the DVDs I get. Some of them are so boring, though, I have to stop it.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl has a hilarious commentary with Keira Knightly and Commodore Norrington (I forget his realy name). It only shows clips that contain one or both of their characters, so you aren't watching the entire movie, but their comments about the scenes and themselves are just hilarious. Any POTC fan should definitely watch their commentary, you won't regret it, even if you aren't a big commentary fan.

We go back and do commentaries after we've seen the movie or TV show a few times. From TV shows many of the commentaries for Firefly and Scrubs, for example, can be quite funny.

I was going to suggest this one as well.

I like to listen to the cast commentaries, usually the director commentaries are pretty boring. The POTC 1 commentary with Johnny Depp and, I think it was, Gore Verbinski was very boring after listening to Keira Knightly and Jack Davenport.

i like them when they're funny...but some can be pretty boring.

i like subtitles, too. popcorn::

I love most of the commentaries. I always watch the movie without it first and then again with it. Sometimes if they have just the director the commentary can be spotty. Some of them make comments that is just telling you the same thing you are seeing on screes. "And this is where she goes through the door and the bad guy is waiting on the other side". Those are really boring but some of the directors get the concept of what content should be on a commentary. I like the ones where there are groups of actors, director, producer. Those can be very fun although they can stray away from the film sometimes. "Phantasm" is a great commentary. Julie Andrews does a great job refocusing everyone back to the subject at hand on "Mary Poppins"

Only one that I have watched was Apollo 13 with commentary by Jim and Marylin Lovell. It was interesting and funny, he kept pointing out things that did not happen or were embellished.

If you're a Love Actually fan - you MUST watch with commentary. It was really funny.

I just recently watched Muppet Christmas Carol with the commentary - only fit for Muppet geeks. I enjoyed it because I'm into that kind of thing, but the average viewer would probably find it boring.

Thanks for the tip on POTC and Pixar commentaries!

I do watch the commentaries with commentaries on at least once. Commentaries give a lot of insight into what goes on in filmmaking and how screenplays are often changed. I also like watching the commentaries on TV show DVD's.
