Its just a joke based on the PA announcements at some shows, stores, or wedding receptions, etc...

Since the Castle is always lit up, I thought it would be a funny statement about that.

That's because "larboard" IS the correct word used in the attraction.

"Larboard" (left side of the boat) means the opposite of "starboard" (right side of the boat.)

But the old-world "larboard" term has be supplanted by the newer term "port."

It is likely because it was too easy to mistake one for the other in noisy conditions.

So in PotC "...show 'em your larboard side" is what the old-school pirate says.

I stand corrected...it always sounded like starboard to me and since I never heard of "larboard" I must have misheard. A thousand pardons from a confirmed landlubber.

Thanks for backing me up, grimley and Robo! I'm pretty land-bound myself, but I have this bad habit of "lip-synching" ride dialogue. Too many solo trips! I have to make my own fun. (I get some funny looks in the stretching room at the Haunted Mansion.)

I'm sorry to hear that corny old Ms. Jobson is gone from the Safaris. I always rolled my eyes at the line, but it seemed like part of the queue as much as the crowned cranes. Oh, well. As Mr. CoP would say, "Well, that's progress for you."

In Haunted Mansion, we love it when they say "Drag your bodies to the DEAD center of the room" before they turn off the lights!

A real good CM will sometimes say:
"Please drag your wreched bodies to the DEAD center of the room and away from the BLOOD red carpet" the red being the line around the room that keeps you away from the doors,so the y can open safely.

I've been going through this thread looking for quotes from Splash Mtn and was amazed that nobody had mentioned any until now!

The one I like but can't remember exactly is the one where Brer Rabbit is telling Brer Bear something like "I didn't say your laughing place, I said MY laughing place"

And I can't believe nobody has mentioned "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow"! Or does that one not count because it's a song?
