Attn Vera Bradley lovers

I have more VB backpacks than I care to admit in public...my DD6 has started to carry some of my older patterns because they very easy to wear and carry. They hold an amazing amount of stuff without feeling bulky and hot. I've carried mine thru our past 5 Disney trips. I don't typically put anything of value in the front pouch because i have always thought it would be too easy for someone to lift the flap and grab something....but the zipper of the main compartment as well as the zipper against your back would be difficult to open without you being aware of someone tugging on your back.

When I go without kids, I carry one of my mini hipsters and I'm able to hold hand sanitizer, sunglasses, band aids, camera, credit cards/cash, cell phone. It also holds a great amount and its easy to wear. I never feel like the straps dig into my shoulder.

I'm not a fan of the hipster though...it feels too....floppy? Unwieldy? I don't know what the right word is....it's too much bag flopping around at my waist! :)

Everyone has a favorite. I think if you can't try them out before buying, you should at least have a pretty good idea about what kind of handbag you typically feel most comfortable with...go with a similar style. :)

Thank you! This was the info I was looking for. A zippered compartment against my back would be perfect for my cards. Hand sanitizer - I wouldn't be devastated if someone snatched that out. I agree about the hipster. It is quite bulky.
Thanks!

Oh my gosh! Disney Vera Bradley?? Someone take my purse and hide my wallet! Things could get dangerous!! :rotfl:

hope they come out with a Lizzy! that is my favorite style. I saw another tip that someone bought a wristlet and the lanyard and clipped one to the other to wear it more like a tiny purse. Just enough for me! I go light:thumbsup2

I was so excited about the announcement of Disney Veras, had my credit card n my hand to get 2 before my trip to the World in 3 weeks...........and then read they won't be out until the fall, talk about devastated! Oh well, something to look forward to in the fall and I will put them away until my trip in 2014 :cool1:

I have used a small backpack, large backpack, mini hipster and hipster at the parks - the mini and regular hipster dug into my neck to the point of causing abrasions which required antibiotic ointment and large bandaids. The large backpack was too big, ie I put too much stuff in it! The small backpack seems to work best for me, it limits what I carry, it has a zippered pocket up against your back as others mentioned which makes it impossible (or nearly so, I guess anything is possible) to be accessed by anyone else and that is where I put my wallet and car keys, the main section holds "stuff" like ponchos, sunscreen, sunglasses, park maps etc and the front pocket holds hand sanitizer, Carmex, eye drops etc.

Someone mentioned that they didn't like the backpack because of needing to take it off on rides, I never find that to be a problem, I get on the ride and then slide if off very quickly to put it by my feet or beside me depending on the ride. Now, I will say I don't ride thrill rides so I am not sure how that would work but there have been occasions like Thunder Mountain that I have simply left one arm strap on and shift the bag to my side between my friend and myself or simply put it on the floor and put a foot through the strap and it never moved.

I have heard vicious rumors that VB are washable :rotfl: However, I have yet to get a bag (any sort of VB bag) dirty enough to have to wash it, but then again, if I got one that dirty, I would be tired of it by then and want another pattern! Lets just say, I have alot of bags, wallets, purses, totes, camera bag, napkins, pens, note pads and the list goes on and on. Its pretty bad when I opened my mail last week and found a birthday card from Vera in the mail for me:cool1:

That was me aggravated taking backpack for rides, even a ride like soarin..I would rather just have it on me.... Also I like to grab camera quick. Backpack is constantly on and off me, so annoying. But it is hands free so it is personal preference definitely. I would really prefer no purse lol.

Somebody should pass that rumor on to my MIL. Ugh. She lets hers get so icky! It's worse because it gets that smokers yellowing but I think she just sets it anywhere. Now I only buy her darker colors so I don't have to see it.

Sadly, my very very favorite purse, Julia, is not washable because front, back, and flap are all solid. I assume it's cardboard like some bottoms. And it's discontinued so I have to take care of it since I can't replace it. I'm going to buy out the outlet and scotchguard them I guess! Just bummed that I can't get in in the new colors!

Thinking of getting the backpack and all in one wristlet for our upcoming trip (first trip with no stroller wahoo!!)
Can I fit the wristlet, 2 refillable water bottles and various odds and ends (sunscreen, chapstick, small wipes) I HATE to carry anything big and this past fall we did Hershey with no stroller and I felt my backpack (non Vera) was too big so would love to splurge on a new Vera. They are on sale right now with free shipping - will this work?
thanks
Laura

I usually carry a hipster but was thinking I needed something a little larger for the water bottle and other things. Has anyone used the mailbag instead of a hipster? Would that work? Thanks

Laura, isn't there a VB at one of the Hershey or Lancaster outlets? I get mine at the Phila outlets in limerick.

I take multiple bags with me. Crazy I know, but what bag I carry depends on the park. My last two trips I mostly used the Little Hipster. It has a built in wallet which I found really convenient. Its in the ribbons pattern and when the security guard saw it, he said he had not seen that pattern before and he was going to have to get one for his wife!! LOL!

Never understood the VB craze, but to each his own. However, add Disney to the mix and now I may have to see what all the hype is about.

To me the appeal was getting a bag that was non-leather (I'm a vegetarian) that was still stylish. The fake leather or fabric with fake leather trim often looks cheap and knock-offy. I like that the same VB purse that others carry fits my beliefs. That it comes in so many shapes and colors was a bonus. But believe me, when I thought they were all frumpy 80's paisley I avoided them. My MIL wanted one so I reluctantly looked... And found a hip print I liked!

I was just checking out the new VB patterns and styles for my upcoming Disney trip. I have decided to get the Little Hipster to use especially for the parks and what we call our "do nothin' days" (no park days). I usually use the Mini Hipster but believe it to be a little too small for this trip with the Grandkids.

The link above is to the Little Hipster, Marina Paisley (the least flowery to me)
and there is also the Sun Valley pattern (my least favorite of the 4 summer patterns).

My summer VB purse will be the Cassidy in Tutti Frutti. The Little Hipster will be in Lilli Bell. I placed my from the VB website.

I will have to abstain from future VB purchases to save up for the Disney VB bags!!!
