Attention Parents Of Dancers! Website For Highly Discount Dance Shoes/Clothes

Do there shoes run true to size? DD15 has a big foot and so often what we think is her size isn't!

Thank you! As fast as her feet are growing, it seems like I am buying new shoes twice a year, and with 3 kinds, that adds up fast!

WOW!!! I just checked out the site and the prices are great!! Will definitely be shopping there!

If you are concerned about sizing when it comes to ordering online what I have done is gone to a local dance store for the purpose of a shoe fitting, particularly when it comes to pointe shoes. Usually my response to the person helping me out is, "I appreciate your time and help, but I'm going to think on these and come back later". And then from there I confidently order online knowing I am getting the right size, obviously pay attention to the brand name as each brand fits differently from the other.

I just never exactly trust the sizing guides, mainly because when you are buying a pair of dance shoes you are purchasing athletic equipment. And ill fitting dance shoes can cause foot injuries, and long term foot problems.

Both ballet slippers and jazz shoes need to fit like a glove with no room to spare.

Tap you want a little wiggle room, but not much.

Pointe shoes are different as each persons foot is different from another persons. So these need to be professionally fitted by a certified pointe shoe fitter.

Thank you. My dd competes in trampoline and tumbling, but she loves those shorts to put on over her leo. They have some that I know she will like for half the price of GK. Now to convince her she won't die if she wears a leo other than GK:confused3

I don't think it's fair to the dance studio to have a professional fit you into pointe shoes and then for you to take your business and money elsewhere. That's why my DD's dance studio charges for pointe shoe fitting and refunds the charge when you buy the shoes.

That being said, I need to buy my DD new jazz shoes and I'll buy those online :).

This is precisely why local dance shops are going out of business. They spend time helping a customer, making sure the shoe fits properly, trying to give great customer service...only for the customer to turn around and make their purchase online to save a couple bucks. This is also why many dance shops are now charging a fitting fee. As a former small business owner, I do hope that you think twice about doing this. I'm all for saving a few bucks...but...if you want to buy online, contact the customer service reps for that specific company to get fitting information, instead of taking up the valuable time of a small business owner hoping to gain your business. Just something to think about. Put yourself in the position of the business owner trying to make a living....

Totally agree! We must have been writing this response at the same time.

Yup. And now you're making me feel a teeny bit guilty about buying the tap shoes online, LOL. My DD is still dancing in last year's shoes ...

Nothing wrong with buying them online! LOL!! I buy a lot of my shoes and dance wear online...I'm all for saving some money. But sometimes, there are things you just can't order online (or you need guidance from a professional before buying). THOSE are the things I buy in the store! We have a wonderful dance store attached to our studio, great customer service, friendly staff, good at what they do...which I think helps me want to shop there...even if the price is a few dollars higher. Plus, I get the satisfaction of getting the item RIGHT THEN as opposed to waiting a few days. It's a great solution for impatient people like me :rotfl: And, I'm supporting a local small business, which makes me smile.

I don't buy all of my dance stuff on the internet. Just some of the time, when I don't have time to get to a dance store, or if I'm on tour and need to have shoes and stuff shipped to the next venue I will be at and cant get to a dance store in that case (when you are on tour the tour busses don't stop for you to shop or pick up necessities).

Needless to say I do understand business, and know how it works. My dad is a business owner (19 years in business), and I'm his business associate/assistant when I'm not busy with dance. He runs a day care center and potential clients sometimes do turn us down to give them a service of taking care of their kids during the day. This after he or another staff member taking their time with them, to ask questions, and give them a facility tour. Add to that we constantly lose money, and business due to clients who don't pay, or cant pay the minimum the state tells the parent to pay, while they pay the rest. I was raised and grew up in a business.

Yes, but would you still spend the time with potential clients if you knew before talking with them that they were going to turn you down, no matter what you said or did? Just askin'....:confused3 Since you were raised and grew up in a business, surely you must understand that it is the wrong thing to do, right?

Regardless, the online site you suggested will be of great help to many dancers and dance parents. Thanks for posting it.

First we never know what parents will or will not to decide to rather use the child care center as the choice to take their kids to our center for day care. We just never know unless they call us back telling us we are the one they will be using. So basically its pretty hit and run, granted we do spend time with all potential clients. So for me business has always been seeing people just not return. I do understand what I did as a customer was wrong, and its been proven here by many people and I now know not to do that in the future. Lesson learned on my end :).

So you waste their time and merchandise? You do know their prices are higher because they are experts and have to pay rent and for all those shoes you try on, right?? My mom owns a dancewear store and charges $25 for a fitting if you do not purchase the pointe shoes. No charge if you buy them, obviously. She is known throughout the state for the quality of her fit and has people drive more than 2 hours for her to fit them. She has no issue at all if you like that pair and then order the next time you need them. Obviously, she would love it if they came back, but realizes money talks. It is people like you who are putting local stores out of business.

I also have no issue with buying things online like leos, tights, shoes that don't need a custom fit etc. But, to do it with pointe shoes is wrong and immoral. If you don't think so, tell them when you go in "I want to try on some shoes so then I can order them online." If you don't feel comfortable doing so, what does that say?
